IntroIntroducing... ![]() We're in our first SOTM! Spare a vote? ;) Hi!, and welcome to one of MS Paint/Picnik graphic making instruction sites. This site was created by my owner FieryWithWings. The Graphic Lab was originaly inspired by Ashyaruu's Button Tutorial Suggest A Guide? ToolsWhat you need![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
Going onto MS PaintGreat for Newbies
Picking A ImageNeeded!First, find a image. Here are some places you could search:* * * * * * * * After your done searching, take a screenie, take off the "extra image parts" and save it OR save it into your computer by doing:
For both times, save like this: ![]() (Can be jpg or gif too.) CroppingAnother thing needed Once done saving main image, crop it by now doing:
![]() After that, get out of MS Paint and open MS Paint again! Now paste the 88x31 or smaller image. Save. Your Button needs...Whipping your button into shape!
Now you have a button without a border. Eek! Don't you know review sites think of that?
![]() Now add a border. I recommend black. You can make any border, there is the standard solid though. Now save. ![]() Still not that nice looking. You better make a second white border. Its good for padding too. Save again. ![]() Now add text. I used the bordered pixel text from above and changed the border color. Arrange the letters to make the name/initials of your sit. Use a color that's not very pretty as the background of the text and fill in using the bucket tool on MS Paint, as shown: ![]() Crop and copy on to the button. Right click on the same color as the one you used as the background of the text and make sure that you click on the red boxed area right here: ,until is highlighted blue, like it is. Paste and move the text to where you want it. Now your results look like this:![]() Now upload your image. Uploading ImagePretty handy! :)ImageShack:
Go to
![]() Here's how you upload your image: ![]() Then, here's how you code it: ![]() Well, that's pretty much how to code a button in , great for multitasking too! Can upload more than one image at a time!
Photobucket:
Go to
![]() Upload your image at Photobucket, pick your image and for more of the easy-go-er type of person, it will load without needing to click on another button. :)NOTE: Make sure that you have a accout to upload a image at Photobucket. ![]() After it's done loading, here's how you code your button: ![]() That's about it for photobucket! :) And you can even delete it after done, great for button making! TinyPic:
Go to
![]() Upload it, pick your image. I'm too lazy too update my screenies so...:P ![]() And then code it like this: ![]() So little effort! Tinypic also has the shortest coding! Making A Transparent BlogOn PicnikFirst of all go to picnik[dot]com/app
![]() First of all, of coarse, you'll have to find an image, then put a border around the image and add some white padding, I usually put 1px padding on it. Do that on MS paint. Then upload it on picnik. ![]() ^^ Look up ^^ ![]() ^^ Look up ^^ ![]() ^^ Look up ^^ ![]() ^^ Look up ^^ ![]() ^^ Look up ^^ ![]() ^^ Look up ^^ ![]() This is what it should (usually with a differant background and size) look like after your done! :)
Making A GradientOn Picnik/MS PaintFirst of all go to MS Paint.
![]() Then, make a diagonal line (either way) of one of the colors of your gradient on MS Paint. Make sure that the whole thing is 100x100 px's tall and wide. ![]() Then, color one of the sides the same color as the diaganol line. ![]() Than color the other side with another color of choice, or leave it white. Go to Picnik.com/app and then look up. ![]() ^^ Look up ^^ ![]() ^^ Look up ^^ ![]() ^^ Look up ^^ ![]() This is what it should look like (usually with differant colors) after your done! :)
Coding random imagesNo need to upload![]() ![]() That simple! JPEG vs PNG vs GIFInfo! | | | | ![]() JPEG | Highest Quality JPEG | GIF | Animated GIF | PNG JPEG: A low quality type of file type. Not useful. Maybe good for actual photos that were scanned. Should NOT be used at all. Highest Quality JPEG: Uses a massive file size. Can only be used at Picnik[dot]com[slash]app. Should use it ONLY when entering neopets competitions due to huge file size. No distortion if highest quality. GIF: Great for neopets competitions due to not much distortion (but distortion) and regular file size. Should be used when making animations or neopets contests. Animated GIF: Slightly above average file size. You can download it free at www[dot]jhepple[dot]com[slash]gif_animator[dot]htm. Nice animations, but slightly distorts images like the regular GIF. Can be used for neopets contests. PNG: Regular file size AND no image distortions! Should always be used except when cannot such as in neopet competitions. Best known to man so far. FAQQuestions?
Q. How do you code a button?
A. ![]() Blue Text In Image = Replace With Pet Name, Red Text In Image = Put in coding (in the uploading section where it says see FAQ for coding instructions, put the copied text in) The "border="0 is for the prevention of a nasty link border. Did you know that review site take away points if you have link borders on your images? Q.What version of MS Paint do you use? A.V. 5.1, pretty old...:P, 1981 - 2001?! Q.What are link borders? A. Blue/purple borders that indicate that there is a link in a image. Did I mention they are bad? |
