She stood up, wings glowing brighter than ever, and took to the skies. Surrounded by the aurora still dancing happily in the sky, she appeared as the aurora itself, sweeping across the sky in elegant ripples. The snowflake on her wrist began to glow, and suddenly wisps of blue fire surrounded her, orbiting her, causing her fur to appear dark blue, rather than the previous rainbow.
Glistlle swooped low, barely missing terror mountain as she passed it. As the aurora faded, so did the glow her wings were emitting. As she passed through the cloud layer that engulfed the mountain she lived on, she felt the softness of snowflakes brush past her fur. Glistlle turned her head skyward. Below the clouds, a blizzard was swamping the mountain, as if a blanket had fallen onto it.
She landed in the fresh snow, seeking something. Her nose poked into the snow, making her shiver. As she lifted her head out of the snow again, flakes of snow drifted down off her nose back to the ground. She turned her head. It had to be around here somewhere. Watching her left paw, she glided through the snow.
Suddenly a light glow flickered from the snowflake on her paw, it was near. Glistlle broke into a run, all the time her snowflake glowing brighter and brighter until it matched the brightness of the morning sun. She stopped, below her was what she needed.
Glistlle placed her head into the snow then raised it again. This time, along with snow around her neck, a blue strap was looped there. On the end of the strap, was a purple orb, with a snowflake on, similar to that of the snowflake on her left paw. She had found what she was looking for.
She took off once again to the skies, this time flying away from the mountain and descending further and further towards the lights she saw from her home. She had to find someone, someone to respect, someone to play with, someone like herâ?¦
Yuki: Yuki (or Yukirakugosha) met Glistlle soon after Glistlle escaped from her home. She was an ordinary Carmariller when she had fatefully met Glistlle, until they moved to terror mountain. Yuki had been out one night, enjoying the cool winter air that constantly circled the mountain, regardless of the season, when the aurora appeared. Yuki was mesmerised by the aurora and had not noticed that whilst beautiful, the aurora could have bad effects on Carmarillers. Fortunately, Yuki had been carrying Glistlle's necklace at the time and had been protected by it, only changing the colour of her.
Yuki had met Glistlle whilst she was searching for companionship of other Carmarillers like her, as she had been rejected by her family. She had heard the beating of wings, curious to find out what had caused this noise, Yuki flew hastily in the direction of Glistlle, crashing into her and breaking her wing.
Glistlle, also in the position of loneliness, had taken the injured Yuki and healed her until she was healthy enough to be able to survive by herself, but upon release, Glistlle had grown an inseperable bond with Yuki and offered her the choice of joining her on her own journey.
The day was as ordinary as could be to Glistlle's siblings, Sibare, Lickilly, Spirit and Starglistle were playing in the garden, whilst Bumblebee was reading in his room.
Glistlle opened her eyes and looked up at her mother. Her mother was a pink Xweetok with golden eyes, which seemed to reflect the sunsets of Mystery Island. She looked at her husband and smiled, her father turned away. "She looks like a Wocky to me, not a Xweetok, she's likely a mutant. Glistlle's mother looked at the ground.
Mummy, mummy, can I see my new sister?" chirped Sibare, she climbed to the ledge of the basket and poked her nose down into the blankets. Her mother looked up, and stared at the little striped Xweetok, "not today darling Glistlle needs to rest, you can see her tomorrow." Sibare jumped down and kicked the ground disappointedly.
The next day Glistlle's mother picked her up out of her small blanket and introduced her to the family. Her sisters gazed in awe, they had never seen a Xweetok like her. Glistlle yawned and stretched out her minute paws, revealing her precious pink pads to her family. Bumblebee groaned, "Another girl, as if there weren't enough girls in this family," at this, he went to his room, not to be seen for the rest of the day.
A year later, and Glistlle had already begun to adapt to her personality, her fur had lightened in colour, and she had began to grow small, insect like wings. Still displeased, her father would never communicate with Glistlle, ashamed of her and how she was so unlike all other Xweetoks. Glistlle would spend her days playing with her sisters, living and learning with them and trying her best to impress her father, but it would not work.
It had come the time for Glistlle to go to school. It was her first day, and her mother walked her to the front gates, along with her sisters and Bumblebee and kissed them all once on the forehead and watched them go into class. Glistlle was exited about meeting other Xweetoks like her and immediately dashed into class. Once in the classroom, she searched the room. Just then, the teacher came into the room, carrying crayons and paper, and politely asked the class to be seated. Glistlle looked round, her classmates had all sat down on the carpet and all were focused on the teacher. As the teacher was calling the register, Glistlle attempted to get to know the other Xweetoks in the class.
To her dismay, every Xweetok she talked to turned their backs on her. They had taken one glimpse at her colour, and ignored her. Some even called her names like "Bugsy" or "Sparkles" to tease about her glowing insect wings. Glistlle hung her head. "Why was I born like this? Why must I be considered a freak by others, even my own father?" she thought to herself, tears pricked her eyes. When the teacher called her name, Glistlle burst out of the classroom, tears falling from her eyes, her snowflake glowing a deep blue of sadness.
That evening Glistlle stayed in her room, lost in her thoughts. She thought about what her life would be like if she wasn't born as a freak, what she would be like if she was an ordinary Xweetok. The skies above her swirled with snow clouds. Glistlle looked out her window, and followed the first snowflake that fell from the sky. "That's it I'll leave tomorrow," she thought as she gathered a stash of food to help her survive her journey.
Glistlle ran through the thick snow, the lights from her town growing dimmer and dimmer the further she got away from it. She couldn't turn back, it was too late for that, she had to get away, get away from school, get away from her father, get away from all the Xweetoks who hated her for what she was.
She stopped. Something was following her; she lifted one ear and looked behind her. She couldn't be wrong, something was defiantly there. Glistlle picked up a paw and took a step further. "Glistlleâ?¦" a voice from the darkness echoed through her ear. Glistlle raised her head and turned towards the voice. It was Sibare. "Please come back Glistlle," Sibare cried, tears in her eyes.
I can't," Glistlle looked at the ground, "everyone thinks I'm a freak, I have to go" and at that Glistlle ran out of sight, leaving Sibare watching the place she had just been stood.
After an hour of straight running, Glistlle stopped and fell to the ground. She was exhausted, almost at the point of death. Glistlle curled into a tight ball, her wings glowing dimly in the moonlight, until she fell asleep.
A light surrounded her, reflecting off her fur in all colours of the rainbow and breaking through Glistlle's eye. Gradually and painfully, she opened her eyes. It was still night, the stars gleamed in the sky, containing memories of the earth within them. An aurora filled the sky, dancing in elegant arcs above her head. Glistlle looked up in amazement. She hadn't seen anything like it in her life, still in deep thought, Glistlle looked to the east, and mountains soared to great heights. Looking at her snowflake, which was glowing a beautiful yellow, she knew where she must go, she would go to the mountains.
Yuki hovered up to Glistlle's shoulder and landed on her sleek fur. "You know we have to keep moving," she stated as she fluttered her wings and inspected her small hands.
I knowâ?¦ But it's so busy hereâ?¦ We can't go on like this, we shall surely be spotted before daybreak and then what? I have heard about neopians, they are full of greed and would do anything to get their hands on a coloured pet, we should not have come hereâ?¦" She shivered, thinking of what awful things could be just around the corner. A rustle. Glistlle sharply turned her head to face the noise.
It was your idea to come seek other Xweetoks like you, now we must move on to find them, or else neither of us will get anywhere." Yuki's rainbow wings glittered softly in the dim street lighting.
Glistlle rose to her feet and peered round the corner of the alley leading to the street, her snowflake still glowing. "It is clear, let's go now," she spoke clearly, still weary of the possible danger behind them. She dashed into the street, Yuki still on her shoulder. Glistlle ran and ran, darting in and out of crowds of neopians and their pets. Suddenly she ground to a halt. "Oh no," she gasped, ahead of them was a crowd of pet less neopians, all eyes fixed on them. She looked down, her snowflake had began blazing a blood red light. "We need to get out of here right now, Yuki," she glanced down at the Carmariller on her shoulder.
But how, Glis?" Squeaked the tiny creature, overtaken with fear"
A scream from the crowd burst through their eardrums, "Look it's a Xweetok mummy, can we keep it?"
Glistlle's eyes widened. She sank low to the ground and ran directly into the crowd, hands grabbing at her from all angles. Suddenly she saw a light and broke through to the other side of the crowd. She had made it through. Glistlle let out a sigh of relief and she took to the sky, Yuki close behind her. Her wings lit up as the lights from the city dimmed the further she flew from the city.
Yuki flew by her shoulder, also glowing as brightly as Glistlles wings, "I told you we would make it," she giggled as they flew off towards the dark depths of the Haunted woods.
