Repainted Adoptables - Customization Adoptables - Labbed and Loving It Adoptables

Painting can be a means to an end
But that doesn't mean it should be the end to your pet!

Everyday fun and exciting colors are released to Neopia and it is no wonder that people would soon tire of an older color or style, having been inspired or captivated by something new! While the newly released paintbrushes should have pets everywhere excited and eager, it so often finds them anxious and abandoned. Repainted and Proud hopes to enlighten Neopia that the only thing permanent about a pet is it's name, that a pet has no 'rarity value', that abandoning a pet does not help the pet or it's adoptive owner, and that repainting can be so much fun!

The real value of a Neopet

The most common excuse for "pounding" a Neopet instead of morphing / repainting it is that the owner does not want to "waste" the pet's color. This statement is absurd in itself because a color has no value.

Once a paintbrush or morphing potion has been used, it cannot be used again, it's gone forever. If you paint a pet plushie, you cannot later extract that plushie paintbrush from the pet and return it to a previous color. Therefore, what is done is done, what is used is used, and the color of a pet has no real monetary value or worth.

Repainting then, doesn't "unpaint" what you had done before but simply builds on it, which - after the painting is completed - is the only thing left to do whether its repainted or not.

Besides this, your Neopet should be far more valuable than a layer of paint drizzled on it! This petpage elaborates more about the value of a Neopet itself, color aside, but the simple gist of it is that a Neopet is a responsibility you took on and though colors and fads may come and go, a Neopet is constant.

Repainting - The Ultimate Showoff

Many people choose to paint their Neopets to show off wealth. While this page doesn't necessarily encourage these ideas, it understands that many Neopians choose to play with this mindset and repainting caterers to these attitudes as well.

For example, Gere (who hosts this petpage) has been repainted numerous times.

Gere began life as a red lupe, became an ice bori through the toolbar promotion, then was painted into a plushie bori, then morphed into a royalgirl lupe, then a baby elephante, a royalboy kau, spent some time as a shoyru, turned back into a lupe, and then the chocolate ogrin that he is now.

Phew! Now, that chain of events is far more impressive than simply a chocolate ogrin, is it not? Not only has he had the experience of being numerous colors and species, but he was able to participate in old promotions, an experience we shared that a new pet (had I abandoned him) wouldn't have. Finally, my closet now has several deluxe paint brush set clothes that I would not have if I had never repainted him.

Repainting pets also goes against the popular mindset and therefore looks all the more impressive and even distinguished. Besides, pet enthusiasts will applaud you for keeping your Neopet through all these various changes.

Long Live your Neopet!

My favorite part of repainting is the simple fact that you are able to have any kind of Neopets you like without missing the benefits and experience of an older pet.

Hold on a minute, what benefits could be had for having an older pet? The answer is actually two-fold and applies to the emotional, creative side of pet care as well as the practical, goal-oriented side.

As I mentioned earlier, keeping your pet through several changes means that you and your pet have shared allot of experiences together! Site events such as plots, wars, or the introduction of new species and colors. Maybe your pet has supported the same Altador Cup team three years in a row! Perhaps it participated in the Toolbar Ice Bori promotion or picked sides in the Maraqua/Pirate battle! These kinds of experiences and events are what shape our lives in Neopia and being able to have gone through it with the same pet(s) makes it all the more fun and memorable!

Repainting is also practical! Keeping the same pet(s) over the years means that every book you read to it or gourmet food you serve gets you closer to a trophy. Any Beauty Contests or spotlights you enter and win will be with you and your pet for as long as you have them! You can train your pet and continue to build up it's stats and strength without having to start over with a new one. Your older pet is more likely to win PPL if they've taken as good care of their petpet as you have of them! Every small goal, activity and training adds up as time goes on!

Customisation - Repainting Gone Wild!

If you haven't heard of Neopet Customisation you need to take a peak! It's the repainter's dream come true!

Having trouble deciding between a ghost quiggle or a pirate quiggle? Have a ghost pirate quiggle haunt your neohome! Have you always envisioned your royal uni was really brown? Make it happen for all of Neopia to see!

Here's how it works: Some Neopet colors come with clothing that you can add and remove at the customisation module. These colors include pirate, christmas, royal, desert, island, disco, robot, halloween, and possibly a few others.

Once removed from one pet, these species specific items can be used to dress up your other Neopets of the same species or to put right back on your origional pet.

If you repaint your Neopet, you will still keep any clothes that your pet has acquired from previous colors! Even if your pet changes species, it's deluxe paint brush set clothes will remain in the closet, waiting patiently in case you ever have a pet of that species again.

The possibilities here are endless! You can have an island lupe, repaint it Halloween and mix and match the island lei and Halloween shorts! You can turn that same pet into a uni and mix and match with uni paint brush colors but if you ever decide you want a lupe again, you'll again be able to use those island and Halloween lupe clothes on your pet!

The bigger your closet the more possibilities you will have for customizing your Neopet now and down the road. You never know what the future might hold for you or your pets, and when you repaint, remorph and redesign all of those older paint brush clothes will surely come in handy someday!
