Welcome to Neopoints for Newbies! I, random_geyser, will be your guide to getting Neopoints the fastest way possible- by playing lots and lots of games! Whether you're a newbie or an experienced Neopian, this guide can be very useful to you. Throughout this page you will find the most rewarding of games and some other miscellaneous ways of earning Neopoints. I encourage you to take a look around because I know that you will find something useful to you.

The Top Ten:

Listed below are the ten games (non-sponsor) that I think are the best games to play. Some of them require a little bit of effort and/or skill to play, but none of them require a large amount of luck. Because of the low luck requirement, they are very dependable games that should be played every day.

2. Hannah and the Ice Caves
3. Crisis Courier

8. Evil Fuzzles from Beyond the Stars
9. Grand Theft Ummagine
10. Hubrid's Hero Heist

Kass Basher
Also known as Whack-a-Kass, this game is the fastest and easiest way to get 1000 Neopoints per play. However, first you must go through two levels before you can reach the most rewarding one.

862 points = 1000 NP
3000 NP

Hannah and the Ice Caves
In order to get 1000 NP per play easily, you must get to the last level called Muahaha. This took me about an hour or so (starting from level one). It may seem like a long time, but it's definitely worth it when you get 1000 NP per play in less than three minutes!

Tip: Hold down the spacebar at the end of the level when your coins are going into the treasure chest so that they go faster.

NP Ratio: 0.02
50,000 points = 1000 NP

Crisis Courier
This game takes a little practice. The jackpot of points isn't until the second half of the third level. Not only is this game a good source of easy Neopoints, it's also fun to play!

Zurroball
Zurroball is a very fast way of earning Neopoints. All you have to do is click the ball so that it goes above the red line to score points. However, this game can be very frustrating sometimes. Just try to keep your cool and keep sharp objects away from yourself while playing this game. :)

Tip: Click the N button on the spinning Grundo on the main page to have the Grundo be the ball! This is also the best ball to use, in my opinion.
NP Ratio: 12.51

3000 NP

Defender Trainer
This is another fast game to play. It takes a while to get used to the answers so that you can answer them more quickly. Other than that, it's a pretty straightforward, easy game.

Swarm- The Bugs Strike Back
This game is just a tad slower than the previous ones, but with its new Neopoint ratio, its a lot easier to get 1000 NP per play. The classics cannot do any wrong. ;D

Volcano Run II
Volcano Run II is a little more challenging. Your main goal is to go as far as you can without hitting the obstacles and to get as many jewels as possible. It takes a little practice, but you'll get the hang of it.

Evil Fuzzles from Beyond the Stars
This is a rather exhilarating game. Just shoot the Evil Fuzzles and the mines and you're set! In my personal opinion, just upgrade the gun every chance you get and nothing else. A good defense is a strong offense.

Hubrid's Hero Heist
Easy and fun is a good combination. A little time consuming, but it's still a good source of Neopoints. Just wave your wand at the bad guys, squish them with your feet-of-justice, and collect your reward. This is my kind of game!

Sponsor games can be a really good way of earning Neopoints quickly. I, personally, don't know how the business world works, but I assume that the more money the companies pay Neopets equals a bigger Neopoint ratio which equals more players which equals more customers. -shrug- But what do I know? Pft, not a lot. :P

Spin the wheel and earn Neopoints!
Tip: If you need a tip to spin a wheel, then you're pretty special.
NP Ratio: 1.00
Maximum reward = 2000 NP
---- NP

Wheel of Slime
Just click the Start Game button and then Spin to earn Neopoints! Unlike the other wheels, this wheel does not cost anything to spin. However, you can only spin the Wheel of Slime every eight hours.
Tip: Look at the very bottom section on the wheel. Then look one space to the right. That will be your reward after the wheel spins.
NP Ratio: 1.00
Maximum reward = 2000 NP
---- NP

Adver-Video
Watch an advertisement, spin a wheel, and earn Neopoints! The Neopoint rewards go from 100 to 800 Neopoints. Unlike other games, you can play this game five times a day.
Tip: Play other games while waiting for the commercial to end so that you can save time. ;D
NP Ratio: 1.00
Maximum reward = 800 NP
---- NP

Milk Surf
This game can get annoying very quickly. On the bright side, it's a fairly good game to earn Neopoints from.
Tip: Hit the up and right arrow keys to do a board flip which will give you 45 points.
NP Ratio: 1.00
1000 points = 1000 NP
3000 NP

Fashion Fever
Dress a Kougra and earn 300 NP! Simple, no? This is one of the games where you can earn Neopoints by sending greetings. See the Greetings section for more information.

NP Ratio: 1.00
300 points = 300 NP
900 NP

Chocolatey Milk River Rafting
Travel on a magical milk stream through a cave while collecting random cereal items on the way! Sound exciting? It certainly is.
Tip: Hit the spikes to earn extra points, but be sure not to hit too many! You can press the right arrow to move faster, but be more concerned about getting points rather than finishing the level.
NP Ratio: 1.00
1000 points = 1000 NP
Average score = 650 pts = 650 NP
2000 NP

Cocoa Krispies Chocolatey Milk Mine
This game is really kind of dumb. I don't know why I keep dying; I encourage you to read the instructions. Play this game if you feel like getting a few extra Neopoints at the cost of your sanity.
Tip: -shrug-
NP Ratio: 1.00
1000 points = 1000 NP
Average score = 200 pts = 200 NP
800 NP

Crunching Up Boring
Shoot the blobs to earn Neopoints.

Tip: Don't worry about your health too much, as it restores each level. Go to the sides if you need protection for a while.
NP Ratio: 0.48
1100 points = 528 NP
1575 NP

HoneyComb Fast Eye
All you have to do is track down the bee hive with the cereal in it. Your eyes may hurt after a while. :P
Tip: I like to watch the top of the bee hive because it helps me keep track of whether it moves or not and in which direction it moved.
NP Ratio: 2.00
300 points = 600 NP
1800 NP

Target Back-to-School Extravaganza
Jump and duck over and under obstacles while collecting powerups and bonuses. I wouldn't worry about the computer beating you in this game. :P
Tip: When you need to jump over three obstacles all at once, jump right on the middle one and immediately jump again.
NP Ratio: 0.33
1540 points = 508 NP
1500 NP

Cafeteria Caper
Read the instructions! I stress that because when I briefly skimmed them and played the game, I was very confused. So confused, actually, that I missed this fine opportunity to earn Neopoints for quite a while until I reread the instructions.
Tip: Have a good short term memory. :) But seriously, wait until Fred finishes his thoughts, otherwise he won't project his final thought and then you have to guess which items he wants.
NP Ratio: 2.38
150 points = 357 NP
1050 NP

Camp Dino's Capture the Flag
Very similar to Target Back-to-School Extravaganza. Actually they're almost identical. Hm.
Tip: The powerups actually work in this game, so you shouldn't have any trouble.
NP Ratio: 0.56
880 points = 492 NP
1500 NP

Sears Closet Of Clues
Pretty straightforward. Just remember the items and put them in the right spots.
Tip: ...STICKY NOTES! 8D;
NP Ratio: 1.07
350 points = 375 NP

Survey Shack: Super Daily Survey
This game's actually kind of fun. Aim for the middle so that you can get the 200 NP jackpot.

600 points = 852 NP
Average score = 250 pts = 355 NP

This game can get extremely repetitive and boring. Just hang in there, and hopefully you won't die from Pressingarrowstoomanytimesitus.
Tip: Take a break in between rounds so that you don't get too drowzy. :)
NP Ratio: 0.32
1560 points = 499 NP

Free Food:

There are several ways to feed your pets for free. By taking advantage of these opportunities, you will save a good amount of Neopoints in no time. Although feeding your pets isn't necessary, you don't want your pets to look sad. That would be animal cruelty and is frowned upon in most modern-day societies.

Ways to feed your pets:

Cocoaworks Kitchen
- Once every 24 hours.
Healing Springs
- Your pet has a chance to become bloated and restored to full hit points.
- Once every half hour.
Soup Kitchen
- You receive free food if you have less than 3,000 NP.
Neopian Neolodge
- Choose the restaurant option for just 5 NP a night!

Greetings:

By sending the greeting cards listed below, you can earn Neopoints! Yup, it's that easy. I believe you can send 30 cards a day (or somewhere around there). The first time you send the cards, you get a reward per card. Thereafter, you will only get your reward twice after sending the first card. Confusing? A little bit; but you'll see for yourself.

Making a Shop:

Making and maintaining a shop is rather easy and is a very efficient way of earning Neopoints from your items. Whether you recieved your items through a random event or by restocking, selling them through your shop is the best thing to do. Unless they're unbuyables of course, but we'll get to that a little later on. For now, let's focus on making a shop.

The Process of Making a Shop:

Step One:
Making a shop is really easy. All it costs is 150 NP which you will soon regain through profits. First, hover your mouse over the Shops link in the toolbar. Then, click the Your Shop link.
Step Two:
When you scroll down a bit, you'll see a message like this one. It says that in order to create a shop, you must go to the Create/Edit Your Shop link.
Step Three:
Scroll up and you'll see the link you've been searching for- the Create/Edit Your Shop link.
Step Four:
Click on the link and you'll go to a page like this. Fill out all of the information and with a click of the Create Shop button (and 150 NP), you will have created your first shop!

Restocking:

For a restocking guide, click here.
Restocking is a complicated process of buying and selling products to make a profit. Most users do it by going to a Neopian managed shop (like the Book or Food Shop), refreshing until there until there is a restock, and quickly purchasing goods for a low price. Then, they use their shop to resell their bought goods for a higher price, thus making a profit. Soon, you'll be looking like the Kacheek to your left.

Places to Restock:
As mentioned before, most people restock using the Neopian owned shops. This is because they can sell very rare goods for a very cheap price. There is a major downside, though. You have to have a very fast computer in order to compete with the thousands of people trying to get the same item that you are.
Another good place to restock is the Shop Wizard. The reason why it is so popular is because newbies tend to underprice rare items like codestones, dubloons, or paint brushes. This is a very common and understandable mistake newbies make, but experienced users like to take advantage of their ignorance. Visit the Selling section of this guide to learn how to properly sell your items.
The Neopian Auction House is also a good place to restock. Some users like the excitement of bidding on a rare item that is cheaply priced. Auctions have a downside, though. They take a lot longer and there is a better chance that other users will find the item your trying to snag. On a more positive side, they can rake in a good amount of profits.
Probably the least popular place to restock is the Trading Post. You never know if the user will accept or reject your offer. That time could've been used to restock another item. Also, people on the Trading Post have, more likely, researched the price of their item before posting. Therefore, you are not as likely to make as good of a restock.

The description of the places above is strictly my opinion. You are free to disagree with my stated opinions. The places you restock at should be of your preference.

Selling:

How do you know how much an item is worth? The answer to that question is simple and is explained in this section of the guide. Knowing the right price to sell you item for is as important as gaining the items in the first place.
General Guidelines for Selling:

General Price of Item:
How many NPs less you should price your item:
0 - 500
100
500 - 2,000
250
2,000 - 5,000
500
5,000 - 10,000
1,000
10,000 - 30,000
1,500
30,000 - 75,000
5,000
75,000 - 99,999
7,500

The Process of Selling:

Step One:
Find an item in your inventory that you wish to sell. You could have gotten this item from a random event, restock, daily, etc.
Step Two:
Hover your mouse over the Shops link and click on the Shop Wizard option.
Step Three:
Type in the name of the item you are searching for. Select the option Identical to My Phrase.
Step Four:
Click search and look at the top three sellers.
Step Five:
Repeat step 4.
Step Six:
Repeat step 4 again.
Step Seven:
Repeat step 4 one last time.
Step Eight:
Now that you've found the average price of the item (700 NP), go back to your Inventory and click on the item you search for. Select the Put in Your Shop option to sell the item.
Step Nine:
A page like this should appear. Click Close and View Stock.
Step Ten:
This is the part where you have to think. The average price of this item was around 700 NP, at the cheapest. You want to item to sell, don't you? In that case, price the item a little cheaper than the cheapest seller on the Shop Wizard. You don't lose too many Neopoints, and your item will be one of the first to sell!
Step Eleven:
When your done pricing your item(s), click the Update button (after you put in your security PIN number(?)) and wait for your item to sell!
Step Twelve:
When you think your items have sold, go to Your Shop where you'll see something like this:
Step Thirteen:
Check out your Shop Till and feel good about yourself. :)
Step Fourteen:
Put in the amount you want to withdraw from your till, and click Update. Be sure to put all spare Neopoints into your bank account!

Key Quest:

Playing Key Quest can be both profitable and fun! Furthermore, it's easy and you're able to make many new friends while playing. Whether you win or "lose" you're always a winner. However, there are some bad sports out there that like to quit the game just because they're losing. Don't be one of those people; show good sportsmanship. Besides, even if you do come in second, third, or fourth, you still get a hefty amount of Neopoints and some great items to sell/use.

Playing Key Quest:

Step One:
Hover your mouse of the Games section of the toolbar and click Key Quest.
Step Two:
You can ignore the rest of the page for now; it will only confuse you (like it did to me :P). Simply click on the Play Game button. Or, if you need a quick briefer on what to do or how to play, click the Tutorial button. Playing the game first is recommended because you actually learn the game faster, in my opinion.
Step Three:
Click the Newbies section where you can play with beginners like yourself.
Step Four:
The smiley faces show how many people are signed up for the game and how many are need. Below are some examples.
First row- The game is full.
Second row- One person is needed to start the game.
Third row- Three people are needed to start the game.
Fourth row- Same as the firt row.
Fifth row- Two people are needed to start the game.
Sixth row- Two people have already signed up and two people are needed to start the game.
Step Five:
Click a row that has an empty spot for you to fill.
Step Six:
Click the Join Game button.
Step Seven:
Click on a colored token and wait for your character to load. If it takes over a minute or two, quit the game and try again. This happens regularly.
Step Eight:
If you would like, you can message the other players in the game to liven the mood!
Step Nine:
Instead of joining a game, you can create one. On the page where you clicked the Newbies section should be a door like the one shown. Click it to create a game.
Step Ten:
Here, you can select the amount of players you want to have in your game. Or, you can invite some of your Neofriends to play with you!
Step Eleven:
When you're finished, click the Done button. From there, sit and wait. :)

Bank:

If you plan on saving your Neopoints (which is a very wise idea), then you need to store them in a safe place. Such a place would be the National Neopian Bank. By saving your hard-earned Neopoints in the bank, you'll be able to earn interest on them which will increase your income. However, in order to receive a substantial amount of interest, you need a lot of Neopoints in the bank. I'm talking about at least a million. Don't be scared of that number- a million is your friend. :) This is what this guide is for; just play the games listed above and other miscellaneous activities and you'll reach your goal in no time.
There are other ways to store your Neopoints as well. You can store your Neopoints in items or stocks, but both of which depend on the things you store them in, which can alter in value with time. Compared to the bank, where your Neopoints stay at the same value, storing your Neopoints in items and stocks is a very risky storage system. Despite the great risk factor of losing the value of your Neopoints, the opposite can also happen. You should store your Neopoints in items and stocks that you're at least 90% sure that the things you store them in will increase in value. Only experienced Neopians can do this, however, because they know how the Neopian economy works and which items will increase in value due to supply and demand.

Starting a Bank Account:

Step One:
Hover your mouse over the Shops link and click on Bank.
Step Two:
A page like like this should appear with a green Skeith greeting you.
Step Three:
Fill out the questionaire. Most of the blanks have nothing to do with your bank account (ie. your address, occupation, etc.). The only things that matter is your account type and deposit. Most likely, you'll be a Junior Saver. Deposit the amount of Neopoints so that you'll have no more than 5000 NP out at a time. The reason why you don't want too many Neopoints out the open (the amount of Neopoints that show up on the top bar of every Neopets page) is because random events can cause you to lose your Neopoints like that *snap*.
Step Four:
Another page should loud saying that your account was created.
Step Five:
Your bank information should appear on the same page. This information states your account type (which will change the amount of interest you receive), your balance, your interest rate (which changes with your account type), and your yearly interest (the amount of Neopoints you get after collecting your interest every day for a year).

Quests:

Quests are another way of earning Neopoints. Some quests require expensive items, cheap items, and a variety. Sometimes you even have to do a quest to get the answer to another quest. Just browse the links below to see what quests are right for you!
