What could be worse than death, they say? Pah. They are ignorant. They know nothing. Only a
fool would want to live forever - not in this life, anyway.
How dare they call me lucky! How dare they praise the worst part of me!
Immortal, they call me, as if I am sort sort of goddess. No! They do not understand! They can never understand!
I never wanted this. Sometimes I wish my parents had let me die like so many of my subjects affected by the plague. But no, they sought the help of that sorcerer who made me like this, a
never-aging,
ceaseless existence. What folly this is, that the only ones who wish for death are those who cannot have it!
But no. I cannot criticize my parents. How could they have known the sorcerer's plot? They did this out of love for me. They wanted to see their beloved daughter grow up and inherit a kingdom. Ha. I never grew up, did I? Now they are gone and
my kingdom has crumbled to dust, swallowed up by time, never again to resurface. Why, then, am I still here? Why must I continue to live on? All I want is a mortal life.
Is that so much to ask?
I cannot continue this for much longer. Already, I feel myself growing weaker inside. I have seen too many years. A era of hardships lies behind these youthful eyes.
I am slowly wasting away like a dying fire. My bright yellow coat has dulled, and I sometimes catch myself flickering in and out of existence. One of these days, I fear I will disappear altogether and
simply cease to be.
And yet, the questions remain.
Where is that sorcerer who made me this way?
How did he do it?
Can it be reversed? These same thoughts have entered my mind a million times, but I am still no closer to finding an answer.
Cinder promised she'd
find a cure. How badly I want to trust her! I want to believe that somehow there's a way to restore my former mortality. But I
cannot allow hope to take hold, for once it does, it will be like an unstoppable wildfire, consuming every part of me until nothing remains.
What could be worse than death?
A life cursed by immortality.

Vitanor
Vita understands what I've been through perhaps more than any other alive - or dead. He's the spirit of an ancient king sent back to right the wrongful deeds he did in life. Most people can't see him, but I can. It must be a side affect of my immortality. It was only after I met him did I learn that he was responsible for the downfall of my kingdom - he invaded it during his rule. But he's changed - he's not the same kougra that he was before. I can tell he's truly sorry. He's become my constant companion, and I don't know what I would do without him.

Cinder
Cinder is one of the only people I've met whom I can truly trust. We met several years ago, just after she found that Crystal of Power and gained her magical abilities. She has the power to manipulate fire and communicate telepathically. She can read minds too, which is why she was so intrigued when she first met me. She's since taught me how to guard my mind against sinister presences and promised to help find a cure to my curse.

Tyrestirn
Ty is Cinder's brother. His Crystal of Power gives him abilities similar to Cinder's, except instead of summoning fire, he can move and control things with his mind. I don't know him as well as I know Cinder, for he's often on his own combatting the Masterminds (those who use their mind-control powers for sinister purposes). But he seems like such a suave and well-mannered gentleman, and he's always kind to me.

Ramu
Vitanor told me about Ramu, prince of the desert kingdom. Apparently he'd been keeping an eye out on his family for generations. Ramu doesn't even know how special he is - he is the first to be descended from both my kingdom's royal line and he royal line of Vita's - the mixing of two ancient kingdoms. He alone holds the power to fulfill a prophesy made about our two kingdoms. But Ramu, he's - well, he's different. He doesn't want a kingdom. He'd do anything to be normal. I think I'm going to reveal my presence eventually, but I'm waiting until the time is right.
