Welcome to the Neopets Lab Pet Directory (also affectionately known as the Lab Rat Listing). This is where I will be assembling a list of as many Lab Pets as I possibly can.

What's a Lab Pet?
A Lab Pet is a Neopet that the owner takes to the Secret Laboratory on a daily basis (or as often as they are able) to zap with the Lab Ray there. Effects from such action are widely varied, but most commonly the effects are an increase or decrease in any stat (including level), or a change in color, gender, or species.

How do I get a Lab Pet?
First of all, you need a pet that you're willing to zap. Keep in mind that the effects of the Lab Ray are totally random and that you have no control over what will happen to a pet when it is zapped! This means that if you're one with absolutely horrible luck, your unfortunate Lab Pet may end up decreasing in stats every time it's zapped for a week, month, or however long your bad luck lasts.

Ok, I've picked a test subject.. err.. Lab Pet. Now what?
Now you need the map. You can only get to the Secret Laboratory where the Lab Ray is when you've got all 9 pieces of the map. These pieces can be obtained in a number of ways...

Random Events: You simply find one on a page somewhere around Neopia.

Shop Wiz: Seach the Shop Wiz for "Secret Laboratory Map" but be careful that you don't get the same piece twice! Each of the 9 pieces of the map looks different, but they are all listed under the same name. So you're going to have to do a bit of searching.

Trading Post: By far the easiest place to find all the pieces and make sure that they're the right ones, the Trading Post is always a reliable source for finding that last piece you need. The only downfall is that they might not be the lowest prices out there for the piece you need. One of the benefits of the Trading Post is that (if you have the NP to blow) you can buy the entire map in one shot. Doing so will cost you around 700K to buy it as a package, depending on who you're trading with.

Never ever ever ever ever beg for map pieces (or any other item for that matter)!

Yes! I finally got all the pieces! How do I get there?
Now you go to the Games Room and put them all together! There are two ways of doing this...

First, make sure you have all the pieces of the map in your Inventory. Then go to the Games Room. Scroll down to where it lists the Puzzle games and click "more." Scroll down again to "Treasure Maps" and click that. Another click on "Click to Play." And one more on "Laboratory."

Are there any avatars I can get from the Lab Ray?
Yes! There is one exclusive to the Lab Ray called "Pwned by the Lab." You obtain this avatar when the Lab Ray changes your pet's species.

I've got a Lab Pet (with or without a Lab Petpet). How do I get it listed on the Directory?
Quite simple! NeoMail OrangeGryphon with a request. Please include the information listed below. If you fail to do so, either your pet will not be listed, or it will take much longer while the information is retrieved. Make sure you NeoMail from the account that the Lab Pet is on, or your request will be denied.

Your Neopets username

Your Lab Pet's name

Lab Pet's starting species, color, and gender.

Lab Pet's current species, color, and gender.

Your goal for labbing the pet (such as color, species, or stats)

Your Lab Petpet's starting species and color (if you have one)

Your Lab Petpet's current species and color (if you have one)

Which petpage your Lab Pet's labbing-records are on (if you have one). Note: It is highly recommended that you have a Lab Zap records petpage. Since updating everyone's listing here every single day would be nearly impossible for me, doing your own records and simply having them linked from here is much more sensible.
