What to do at the Magma Pool What your pet will look like
HOW TO GET A MAGMA PET
To get a Magma Pet, you must visit the Magma Pool in the Moltara Caves.

Unfortunately, the Magma Pool is guarded . To get a Magma Pet, you must visit the pool when the guard is asleep.

You will then be able to sneak past the guard and paint one of your pets Magma.
Note: The time that the guard is asleep is different for everyone.
When the guard is asleep, a picture of each of your pets will appear below the guard. Click on one of your pets to paint it Magma.
On rare occasions, the guard may even let you pass.

Note:You can only paint a Pet at the Magma Pool once a week.
For those of you wondering if it is alright to visit the Magma Pool on your side accounts, the answer is yes.
(See the Editorial section of Issue 423 of The Neopian Times)
Elsewhere in Neopia:
hisprincess has been compiling a list of the times the guard has been caught sleeping. She has also been working on why the guard will accept certain people.

THE WORMS
Top of Guide
THE STEPS YOU MUST COMPLETE TO GET THE RED MOLTITE ARE AS FOLLOWS:
STEP ONE: Getting the Lantern STEP TWO: Finding the Worms STEP THREE: Filling your lantern with worms STEP FOUR: Finding the Red Moltite STEP FIVE: Completing the day ONE TIME ONLY STEP SIX: The Friendly Glowing Lantern
THE PATTERN: Understanding your worms
STEP ONE:
Visit Lampwyck's Lights Fantastic.
Lampwyck will give you an Empty Lantern.

Note: Lampwyck gives you the lantern for free. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BUY IT.
Top of Section Top of Guide
STEP TWO:
Find all 10 worms in Moltara City and Moltara Caves. The worms will always appear on the map in the same location.
Note: It may take a while to find all 10 worms (in some cases, several days).
Don't get discouraged though. Just follow these simple tips.
Note: If you do not manage to collect all the worms in one day, you can continue to collect them on subsequent days.

There are five worms in Moltara City:

There are 5 worms in Moltara Caves:

Note: On the map, your Black worm will look purple with a dark colored stomach.

Note: On the map, your Purple worm will be purple with a white stomach.

Note: The worms and all the lanterns (except the wearable Friendly Glowing Lantern) are non-tradeable. They cannot be sold in shops, traded at the trading post, given to friends or donated at the money tree. You can, however, put them in your safety deposit box and your gallery. And, if you get really frustrated, you also have the option of discarding them and starting over from scratch.
For those of you wondering if it is alright to collect worms on your side account, the answer is NO.
The reason for this is that you can potentially get items that can be sold for profit.
(See the Editorial section of Issue 423 of The Neopian Times)
Top of Section Top of Guide
STEP THREE:
Once you have found all 10 worms, go to your inventory and click on your Empty Lantern.
Choose the option that lets you fill your lantern with worms.

Your Empty Lantern is now replaced with a Brightly Lit Lantern.

Top of Section Top of Guide
STEP FOUR:
Once you have your Brightly Lit Lantern, go to the Dark Caves.
Because you have the Brightly Lit Lantern, you will now be able to see where you are going.

Following the pattern on rokkusan's guide, choose to either go left or right until you find the red moltite.

Note: Red Moltite can be taken to Tangor's Workshop in Moltara City and combined with other materials found around Moltara to make PetPets.
Sometimes, you will run into obstacles in the caves and be forced to return to the beginning.

If you have been following rokkusan's guide, this wont be a problem.
Top of Section Top of Guide
STEP FIVE:
Your Brightly Lit Lantern has now become a Dim Lantern

Take it back to Lampwyck's Lights Fantastic.

When you go back the next day, something will have happened to the worms.

Lampwyck will return your Empty Lantern and you will have to repeat the process all over again.
Top of Section Top of Guide
ONE TIME ONLY STEP SIX:
If this is your first time finding the worms, Lampwyck will also give you a Friendly Glowing Lantern when you return to his shop.

This item is wearable.
This item can also be sold and traded.

THE PATTERN
Still looking for your Rainbow worm? Here are a few tips for tracking him down:
WHAT TO REMEMBER:
FACT #1:
Not everyone's worms will appear at the same time. So its no use asking on the neoboards.
You will have to keep track of your own worms.
FACT #2:
Every color of worm will have its own set of times. So you will have to keep track of 10 different sets of times.
Most important though are the Black and Rainbow worms.
This may seem like a lot of work, but if you follow the tips below, it should take you no time at all.
WHAT TO DO:
TIP #1:
Keep note of when your worms are there. They will be there at the same time every day.
You will have to do this for each of the 10 colors of worms. Note: A good way to do this is using a spreadsheet. If you don't have Excel, Open Office is just as good, and its free.
Graph paper also works fine.
TIP #2:
Keep note of when your worms AREN'T there. Much like when they are there, your worms will be absent at the same time every day.
By doing this, you know when not to be looking for your worms.
This tactic is especially important with Rainbow and Black worms, as they appear the least often and are the hardest to find.
TIP #3:
Check for your worms every five minutes.
The worms will appear/disappear at five minute intervals.
Checking at least once every five minute interval will allow you to confirm or eliminate the presence of your worms.
Note: There is no need to check exactly every five minutes. Once in a five minute chunk is fine.
For example, say you are checking the 1:05 am - 1:09 am five minute chunk.
Checking anytime between 1:05 am and 1:10 am will allow you to confirm or eliminate the presence of your worms for those five minutes.
So, if you check at 1:07 am, and your worm is not there, you can safely assume that he wont be there at 1:05, 1:06, 1:08 or 1:09 either.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Top of Guide
Browsing the Neoboards, I saw many questions asked more frequently than others. Here are the answers to a few of them:
Questions about the Magma Pool Questions about the worms
MAGMA POOL RELATED QUESTIONS
-Can I go to the Magma Pool on my side account? Yes, because there is no profit from visiting the Magma Pool.
(See the Editorial section of Issue 423 of The Neopian Times)
-Will pounding a Magma Pet really turn it red? Yes. There is a warning where you go to abandon a pet.
Right above your pets, if you look very carefully, you will see, in tiny, wee, hard to see letters:
Caution! Abandoning a Magma Neopet will turn it Red!

WORM RELATED QUESTIONS
-Whats with all the worms? If you capture all 10 worms, you can get the Red Moltite from the Dark Caves.
-I cant pick up my worms! Why cant I pick up my worms? Before you can gather your worms, you must first get the Empty Lantern from Lampwyck.
-I cant pick up my worms! Why cant I pick up my worms? If you have already captured a set of worms, and you are unable to pick them up the following day, its probably because you forgot to either drop the Dim Lantern off at Lampwyck's, or to retrieve the Empty Lantern from Lampwyck the next day.
-Is Lampwyck incompetent? When it comes to keeping your worms safe and out of harm's way? Yes. Yes he is.
-I couldnt find all my worms today, will I still be able to collect them tomorrow? Yes, you will be able to start where you left off the day before.
-Can I capture the worms on a side account? Unfortunately, no. This is because you can sell the Red Moltite you get at the end.
(See the Editorial section of Issue 423 of The Neopian Times)
-My worm was stolen by the Pant Devil! Will I still be able to collect all my worms? Yes. The worm that was stolen will appear again so that you can recapture him.
