I went to my friend's house. We had a lovely dinner there, and my friends dog, Patch, jumped up onto a chair at the kitchen tabe as we were eating our dinner. My friend stopped eating, got up out of her chair and slapped Patch on the head. I asked why she did it, becuase it was natural for dogs to do things like that, and she replied, "That dog is only being bold. He's done that for the past month now, and he needs to be taught a lesson" "But, he's only a puppy!" I protested, "He doesn't know any better, and he's only learning the rules now." Patch began to whimper and I noticed him hopping off the chair and limping to a corner where he cradled himself. He had obviously hurt himself that evening. "Ugh, I hate that dog! He's a waste of space. Peter, I mean, Patch, needs to be taught a lesson!!!" hissed my friend in an angry tone. Then, she ran over to the dog who, upon seeing her face, clasped himself into an even tighter ball, his head low, whimpering. My friend grabbed Patch by the ears and hauled him over toward the back door. The poor Patch was obviously in pain, but daren't reveal it, in fear of getting scolded. And so he followed my friend into the back garden, and she hit him really hard. I heard him howl with pain as she stormed back in. I stared at her, horrified. My mouth made a perfect 0 shape and water was slowly draining into my pitiful eyes. "What's your problem?" she snapped. "Oh, nothing," I lied in reply, ridding my face of that expression. later that night she invied me to a sleepover and I accepted. Durring the night in was raining and thundering, and I couldn't fall asleep, I went downstairs, and while I was there I was through the window a shivering ball of fur. So I rushed out to see Patch. His hair was matted and it looked like he had fleas, and he was whining and shivering worse than I'd thought. Suddenly a light behind me turned on and I herd a harsh voice say, "Jessica, Is that you?"
