Tips for making a Screenies Page:

1.  WATCH what you screen capture.  I see a lot of un-funny screen shots out there.  The POINT of a n00b screenies page is to make people laugh, lame screenshots don't accomplish that.  Note that screencaps of rewards/accomplishments don't really apply to rule #1.

2.  EDIT!!  The Images.  You don't need the menu, titlebar, or the task bar of the browser/desktop or anything like that.  All neopets pages are only 800 pixels wide, that is the ABSOLUTE MAX ANY screenshot should EVER be.  If it's from a Chat Topics, each post, provided it's not strectched in any way, is EXACTLY 560 pixels wide if you include black bodered edges.  Not only will cutting out the garbage of the image make it look better, it'll download faster, be MUCH easier on your bandwidth (meaning less broken images if you have a lot of viewers), AND give the page a more professional look.

3.  Keep the screenies as-is, unless you want to draw attention to a certain word/prase...and then, a simple arrow or line will suffice.  If there is WHITE SPACE in the vicinity to make a QUICK comment, thats fine.  But the screenie SHOULD NOT be covered in marks and no part of it should be covered.  Save your comments for below or beside the screenie.  Flooding the image with comments makes it look very disorganized.  When you scribble on it, it draws one's attention AWAY from the "object" you captured...which is SUPPOSED to be the focus, and onto you're scribbling.  It's NOT your scribbles one should have their attention drawn to...otherwise, the screenie had no purpse for being taken.

If you MUST comment in the screenie itself, for the Love of Fyora, TYPE IT!  DO NOT "hand" draw it!  Writing it out by hand makes it look even WORSE.  Not to mention, it take MUCH less time to type it.

4.  Save them as a .gif, NOT as .jpg.  Jpg will 'Pixilize' the image (since the are pretty low-res.  'pixilizing' is when you see individual pixels when they should all be blended together.  A pixilized image will look either VERY low quality, or "fuzzy", especially where one color mets another), and makes it look bad.  But DO NOT use MS Paint to save it as a Gif, you'll lose a LOT of quality.  Use a better image program or use and image converter (search online for either).  Once you HAVE it as a gif, yes, it's okay to edit in MS Paint, since it won't reduce the quality if it's ALREADY a gif.

Bitmaps are MUCH too large in disk size...so don't use them!  Png is a good alternative that has that quality with a smaller size, if you dont have a good image program to make high quaility gifs.  But gif is the optimum format.

5.  ERASE the usernames, and anything in their text that may identify them (such as their guild name if it's in their signature)!  Otherwise, you may get in trouble for harassment, unless you have permission from any posters involved to keep their name up.  Also, when erasing them, BLEND IT IN with the surroundings.  Make it look like the username was NEVER there.

Random things about Neopets that annoy me:
(not intended to offend anyone, sorry if you are, but these are my opinions, and I'm entitled to have them)
  • The "Whatsthatlongbuttonatthebottomoftheykeyboard" signatures.  I don't know.   Why not PRESS it and find out what it does?

  • Begging/asking for donations of any kind.  Make your OWN NP.  Accepting is fine, if some kind-hearted person knows you're saving for something and wants to help of their own free without any pressure.  But asking some person to do this for you is NOT.

  • Invisible fonts.  Sorry.  If I can't clearly see what you're trying to say, I'm not going to listen.  How would a teacher feel if you submitted a report on black paper printed in black ink?

  • People who use chatspeak.  It's not funny.  Show some INTELLIGENCE by speaking an ACTUAL language, and not some immature sophomoric dialect.

  • People who say they were warned/frozen unfairly.  Sorry.   While mistakes do happen, they don't as often as you try to convince people to believe.  Live up to the consequences of your action of breaking the rules.   It's TNT's site.  They have the final say.

  • People who don't read the rules they agreed too.  Sorry.   It's YOUR responsibility to read the rules, and periodically re-read them.   Not mine.

  • People who attention seek.  Enough said.

  • People who bump said attention boards.  Don't even tell them your reporting them or to get a life.  You're just giving them the attention they crave.

  • People who bump offensive boads.  Especially to say "Sicko, Reported!"  Yeah.  If you SAY reported, you're being a hyprocrite.  If you're reporting something, you want it to be removed and not seen.  Bumping it MAKES it seen.  You're following the tules by reporting it, but DISREAGARDING them by posting on the board.  DON'T DO IT.  Not to mention, just saying "reported" is technically spamming, since it adds no value to the topic at hand.

  • People who bump boards.  ONCE after 2-3 minutes is okay; sometimes, you just posted at a bad moment and it's bumped down before anyone can see it.   It happens.  But any more than that, you're spamming.

  • People who bump said boards every 3 seconds.  It takes TIME for people to enter the board, read your request, think of a reply, type it out, and submit it.  We can't react at light speed.  Patience is a virtue.

  • People who make boards telling people to stop flooding the boards with *insert current hot topic/panic boards here*.  Yeah.  By making that board, you're actually contributing to the problem you're trying to rid the boards of.   Hypocrites aren't cool.

  • People who use an avatar the very second it's released.  Okay.   So you can use any avatar you want.  But it's dumb when every Tom, Jack, and Harry use it.  An avatar is supposed to "personalize" you posts.  That doesn't happen when everyone uses the same avatar.  Geez.  There's about 50 default and a max of about 140 other avatars you could have collected and be using.

  • Lab Ray countdown/wait boards.  Stop the spamming, and use the time to help others in the topics they create, or go do something else.  You wouldn't be happy if others started a Fruit Machine, Tombola, Scores Reset, Bank Interest, etc. boards taking over your little spamming chat fest, would you?  So KNOCK IT OFF.

  • People who start a continuation board long before the original is locked.  When it's over 450 posts, yeah, it's okay to start a new one if you know the original will reach 500 soon.  But don't create a new one at like 300.

  • People who still complain abotu General Chat being gone.  Yeah.   It happend nearly EIGHT MONTHS AGO.  DEAL.

  • When you ask people to look up an item on the WIZ for a quest, and they don't refresh.  I bet if YOU were the one buying the item, you'd want the lowest price.  Sicne you've already helped by looking it up, take the extra 10 seconds to refresh to get the low for them.  You'd expect the same of them.
