A humid breeze whispered through the reeds, sending ripples across the murky water of the wetlands. A chorus of cicadas seranaded the passage of a slender creature beneath the lake's surface. Her long body twisted with a natural grace within the water; the surface barely wrinkling at her progress. The heat of the day subsiding, the mare burst through the surface of the water with the most inelegant of leaps, sending an array of small, winged-creatures flying agitatedly away from the previously serene piece of nature, muttering angrily. The mare's dainty features spread in a dark grin.

Her soft, grey frame was adorned with dusty brown stripes that emphasise her thin figure. Tumbles of curls in an assortment of fawny shades fell about her face and neck, seperated at her forehead by a thin horn, with on e small ringlet always positioned close to her vibrant, violet eyes. Shaking trickles of water from her delicate, curled fluke, the mare finished her preening by ridding the last of the water from her petite, tawny wings. This attempt was almost definitely in vain; her wings would seem incompetently underdeveloped and scrawny.

She glared at on e last fish that stared at her from the murky depths of the lake. Seeming satisfied with herself, she sunk into her nest of reeds and grasses, alone.

It should not be thought that she was an antisocial creature - quite the opposite. It was just that this particular mare enjoyed the world most when she could pinpoint exactly what was wrong with it, and how much power she had over the situation. Even to those for who she held affection, she was never sweet and optimistic (unless, of course, she wanted something). It was simply her nature, as it was the fish's to flee when she approached. Not something to scorn her for, neither something for which she should be praised. Like everyone else, the mare on ly desired to be accepted - and to amuse herself a little along the way...

Nellaii and Filuah may never see eye to eye, though the two share a friendship that the Filuah could not do without. Despite her cynical manner, she is often truly charmed by Nellai's naive, though pleasantly rose-tinted, view on the world ...of course, she would never say so.

Sahvij is not on e to we wreckoned with; though neither is Filuah. Two strong personalitites will always clash now and then, though it does not mean that they value each other any less. The pair keep each other on edge, and respect each other for it.

Nok is Filuah's brother, and he was born with the unnerving ability to manipuate not on ly thoughts, but emotions and ideas. Their childhood together, with his constant friendly, but confusing and disturbing, intrusions into her mind were the starting point for her innate fear of magic. The pair share a rather odd relationship. He disappeared, his whereabouts unknown, for many significant years of her life. Then on e day, out of the blue, he came back with the explanation, "nothing's wrong unless you want it to be" and some ugly flower he picked because "he knew she would appreciate it."

Sciros charming wit and intelligence, although contrary to her own dry humour and cynical perceptions, lead to a fast friendship between the pair. They each respect the other for their own unique views, and enjoy nothing more than lounging together on the fringe of society and having a good laugh.

Everyone makes mistakes, though rarely are they as malevolent and unforgiveable as Lastrond's. A voodooist and power-hungry, his desire to please his evil 'superiors' turned disasterous when he reached a terrifying peak of success with victims the higher ones wanted 'dealt with'. Now plagued by guilt and remorse, he lives in constant fear of Karma acting out - and can not silence the voices of victims in his head.

Always quick to crack a joke or dive headfirst into a pond, Safaah is the most light-hearted and playful of her sisters. She is just as quick to laugh as herself as anyone else, though she often gets herself into trouble for it. Her jocular spirit also usually results in her missing the point of certain tasks and she is rarely ever punctual (much to Tiyrra's annoyance).

Tiyrra was blessed with the ability to see the aesthetic beauty in the world around - including in herself. She delights in sitting for hours watching the sun set or the waves lap against the shore; providing, of course, that the wind ruffles her coat in only the most flattering of manners and the shade of the lush grass below compliments her eyes.

She knows what she wants, and will go to any means necessary to ensure that she gets it... Ruthless and determined, Laneicse has a steady hand in power over the neglected slums she lives in. Unfortunately for those around her she also harbours a keen will to fulfil her dream of being a 'beauty queen'.

Fiori was born with the power to heal, though to do this she needs to pull 'life' from the surrounding environment. Confused and disturbed by the outcomes of her bad decisions related to this power in the past, and never really knows how to behave in social situations. As a result of this she has become twisted and disoriented - somewhat 'bipolar'. One can only hope that new friends can help guide her onto a brighter path.
