Oh my I am so very sorry! I thought you were someone else." She looked around cautiously. "Did I hurt you?" "No I think I'm fine. Who did you think I was anyway?" "I'm not sure who but my pack mate was attacked by someone with markings almost similar to yours and I wanted to protect my pack. He didn't have that black marking on your thigh though." It sounded like she was describing one of the hunters of my tribe. "Um I think they were a hunter of my tribe." I smiled at her. She began to growl at me. I was still pinned so if she wanted she could easily kill me right now. My neck was fully exposed. "So you came back for more? Why did they send you? What do you guys want with us?" She looked so cute when she was angry. I had a feeling this was her first time trying to be scary. "Let me explain something. I am not one of them anymore! They cast me out. I wasn't good enough for them so they kicked me out. I am not here to harm you or your pack."

She stopped growling. "Could you get off me please?" "Oh sorry" She leaped off of me and sat down in front of me. "I am very sorry for getting so angry at you. Please don't tell my father I tackled the wrong guy. He didn't believe that I could defend the pack so I came out here to prove him wrong. I guess I'm not good at it after all though." "No you were great. I was pretty scared!" Her ears perked up and she smiled. "You really mean it?" "Yes defiantly! I think you will make an amazing defender!" She stood and brushed up against me in a hugging motion then sat back down. "Thank you so much! I want to be a defender more than anything!" "I'm Filtiern by the way but please call me Filt." "Oh yes, I'm Aqati! Hey if you want I can bring you back to the pack? I'm sure they will be ok with you joining the pack!" I did not want to be in anything where I liked the leaders' daughter but how else was I going to eat. So I decided to accept the invitation but make sure I didn't get to comfortable.

I followed her for a little bit until she stopped and turned to look at me. "Alright. The pack should be within a 5 mile radius. Makuni probably already knows I'm not alone." "Why where is he?" I asked her looking around for this lupe she called Makuni. "He's probably with the pack." "But you said 5 mile radius….that's a long distance how can he see us without us being able to see him?" "Oh um see…my pack isn't like normal packs…." "Which means?" "I don't know how to explain this… Most in my pack have powers…" "Powers?" "Yes like Makuni…well we don't really know what his powers are but he's the most powerful of us. He does stuff like levitates people, he can shift the ground, sense when pack members are near and when intruders are near, he says he can explode a person from the inside using his mind, we haven't actually seen him do it though. My day Ray, the leader, he can generate blue flames from his paws and he's rather powerful. Kek is one to look out for. He is evil and his eyes glow black when he's angry and he generates black flames and can levitate. Stay clear of him if you can. Bre can run super fast. Lux has all the same powers as Makuni but knows how to control them and is evil. And I… Well I don't have any powers. See I was adopted. Ray found me when I was a pup and raised me as his own. I am completely normal."

I felt my legs shaking. What in the world had I gotten myself into? I wanted to run but knew if I did I could get hunted by these monsters she speaks of. I could see the worry in her eyes. The worry that she had scared me into leaving. Her eyes begged me to stay. Her soul called to me. Like it was saying stay and be normal with me. Wait a minute…did she say her father was the leader? No way! Nope! I'm leaving! My tribe leader kicked me out but this lupe will fry me! "Maybe I should just go…" "Oh please don't!!! Please! They really are harmless. Just protective. You will be safe with them just like I am. Please!" Her face was a panic. Then I saw it. A cloud of dust in the distance. She sensed it too.

Be calm! Here they come. They must think I'm in trouble but if you stay still they wont attack you without knowing what's going on. If you run they will think you did wrong! Bre will get here first. Don't worry he is no threat! Be nice and polite and we wont have a problem." I appeared calm but on the inside my whole being was in a total panic. Then I saw him. The one she called Bre. Wow was he fast. He didn't look very threatening though. He quickly approached Aqati.

Hey Aqati. You alright?" He looked me up and down. Sizing me up. " Ya I'm fine!" She quickly responded probably trying to save me from his wrath. "Well Makuni sensed you in the area with," He nodded towards me "a unknown entity, and then you guys just stopped and well you know Ray, he was worried about his baby girl." "I am fine! I can defend myself thank you very much! But defense was unneeded. This is Filt and he is homeless and hungry and I figured we could use another pack member who was well…." "Weak?" "Not funny Bre! I am not weak just because I have no powers! Besides all you can do is run from danger. That's real strong." They bickered back and forth for about a minute. I had completely un tensed. He was just like a normal lupe when he was standing still. But then I heard it and my whole body went into panic again. The flapping of what sounded like very powerful wings.

He landed next to Aqati. His huge white wings folded up alongside him when he landed. A black striped winded down his back. It half circled his eye and slightly went into his back thigh before coming back up and devoured his tail leaving it completely black. He took a protective stance in front of Aqati and was studying me as I breathed. Then next to him landed the scariest creature I've ever seen. His black wings folded up aside his body and his claws were huge. He had a huge scar going across his left eye. He smiled at me with a toothy grin that made my skin crawl. Then in the distance I saw an explosion and heard a yelp. Another creature landed next to the second one and he looked similar to the second one but his fur was black and he didn't have a scar. Then the creature that made the yelping noise appeared. Blue grey pelt that was kind of scraggly but he smiled at me in a way that relaxed me. It was actually friendly.

Can I eat him yet?" Asked the creature with the scar. "Don't you dare touch him Kek!" Aqati jumped in front of me. I kept my eyes on the first one. The one with the white wings who I am going to guess and say is Ray. "Do you honestly think you could protect anyone from me?" "Let her speak Kek!" Rays voice boomed with authority. "Well this is Filt!" She smiled really big. "He is an outcast of his tribe. He has no way of getting food and he is normal like me so he's no threat to any of you. Could he please join our pack? Dad please!" She gave him the look she gave me when her eyes were begging me to stay. "He looks weak and would be no help to us. Just a burden." The black version of Kek spoke. "Luxpo hush." Ray bellowed. "I hate when you call me that Ray! I told you its Lux!" "Well I am sorry Lux. Behave yourself your scaring him." Then the scraggly looking male stepped towards me. I felt my back leg move backwards a step. "Hello Felt I am Makuni! It is nice to meet you! I hope you enjoy your life with us. You will be safe. I will make sure of it." His smile was sincere. I felt sweet relaxation. "Who says he's staying you dumb dog?" Luxpo taunted him. "Do you honestly think Ray could say no to that face?" He nodded his head in the direction of Aqati who was still pleading her dad with her eyes. Luxpo let out a long sigh.

I promise not to be a burden. Ill eat only when it is necessary. I can try to hunt. I'm sure Aqati could teach me." What was I doing? I have no idea where the courage to talk to them came from but it did. I was surely dead! "Well I guess you could stay. And yes Aqati will have to teach you to hunt. You will have to work for your food but we are a family pack. And once in the family you will always be safe. Welcome." Ray smiled at me. He really was something amazing. The power in this creature was immense. "What? NO!" Kek growled at Ray. "Ray don't do this!"

His eyes began to glow black and black flames engulfed his paws. He shot a black fire ball at Ray and it hit him in the face. Rays eyes began to glow blue but he seemed to have more control that Kek. Only one of his paws set aflame with blue fire and hurled a fire ball at Kek hitting him in the chest. Kek leaped at Ray but Ray ended it quickly. He took his giant paw and flattened Kek to the ground on his back by the neck. He held Kek there for a minute by the neck until Keks' eyes went back to normal. He let Kek get up. Kek growled at him and Ray growled back but louder. "So as I was saying welcome to the pack. And don't worry about Kek. He did this when everyone joined. He will get used to you." Aqati came bounding towards me and before I knew it I was back on the ground with her paws pinning me there. "So you're here to stay." She smiled at me as she said this. "I guess I am." I smiled back.
