Feikira and Arinaritor Hot Pink Blossoms Chapter 1 It was a warm sunny lazy afternoon on the beaches of Mystery Island. The sky was a clear bright blue save for a few puffy white clouds. A slight breeze whipped through the lone standing lutari's wavy brown hair. She stood straight and tall with her long spear held firmly in her right hand. Her red fur seemed to glow against the sand she stood on as she gazed pensively across the ocean waters. In the heated air she wore only a brown bikini style top and matching loin cloth bottom. Various golden charms and jewelry glistened across her body only enhancing the glow she gave off. She was slowly enjoying watching the flotsams swim about playfully when she heard a twig crack. She spun around faster than lightning and saw two big blue eyes staring at her through the bushes. Then a nose appeared and it sneezed. She jumped back spear at the ready... The red lutari called out to the intruder. "Who are you? Show yourself....now," she demanded. Her golden red eyes flashed. The thing in the bushes hollered "TAG! YOU'RE IT!!" It tapped her then ran off giggling its head off… The red lutari was taken aback by the thing's sudden appearance and with the fur along her back raised she stumbled backward a few steps before regaining her balance. She stood ready for anything now, griping her spear tight and waiting for the thing to return. The thing looked back and came slowly walking towards her and said to the red lutari, "Hi there I'm Arin what's your name?" He stuck out his hand for her to shake while she looked quite puzzled. She could see now that the thing was another lutari like her only he was blue. Continuing to stare at him she began to straighten and lowered her spear stabbing the end of it back in the sand as if it were a walking stick. "Arin, did you say? I'm Feikira." She left his hand hanging awkwardly and just glanced quizzically at it. He looked at her and said "Don't you know how to shake hands?" and he lowered his hand and then said, "Uh Feikira, what's with the spear and loincloth? It's not Halloween yet." Confusion swept over Feikira's face for the briefest of moments before she glanced down at her outfit and then shot a fiery glare at Arin. "Hrmph. And what exactly is so magnificent about what you're wearing?" Her grasp on her spear tightened. Arin raised an eyebrow and said "Hey nobody wants to get hurt around here so get a grip on yourself." He eyed her spear without showing the slightest bit of fear. "You know we could get you some more clean clothes if you like. And I've been wondering, what's with the spear? Are you afraid someone's going to jump out behind you and say 'TAG YOU'RE IT!'" and Arin fell on the ground laughing his head off. Finally he said, "Because that's too late, it already happened." Feikira just sneered at the spectacle Arin was making. With a bit of a huff, she turned on her heel and began to slowly but steadily walk in the other direction down the beach with her fluffy red tail flicking behind her. Hey Ferika!" Yelled Arin can I come with you? When she looked at him angrily he said "Hey I'm sorry about what I said it's just I've never seen another lutari." He gulped, "I didn't know what to say." The name's Feikira." She stopped in her tracks, without turning around, to let Arin catch up. Once he reached her, she spoke calmly but was a strong undertone. "And if you are truly sorry than I shall give you a second chance. But I warn you that I don't give more than two chances." She glanced at him now, "I suggest you take that information into consideration when you address me from now on. That is, if you truly care as you seem to want to imply." Thanks Feikira," said Arin slightly out of breath. "And don't worry I will be more careful. Oh yeah, where are we going?" Arin asked as they walked deeper into the jungles of Mystery Island. She glanced at him from the corner of her eye while they trudged along. "I've heard of a deserted city that's been recently discovered on Mystery Island." She leapt gracefully over a fallen palm tree. "The idea of a lost civilization intrigues me." Really? That sounds great!" Arin tried to get over the palm tree but tripped. "Hee hee, guess I'm not the bushwalking sort, but ill learn. Hey, how long will this trip take?" Chapter 2 Feikira continued on easily through the dense jungle brush. "Well I'm not exactly sure to tell you the truth." She ducked under a low hanging bulk of a branch. "I just figure it'll take as long as it needs to." Arin picked himself up and said to Feikira, "Oh really?" They walked for another 30 minutes (with Arin stumbling at least 3 or 4 times) until Arin kicked something covered with moss. They thought it was just a stone till Arin saw something shiny he uncovered it.... Feikira stood nearby with spear in hand. "Well...what is it?" I'm....I'm not sure! But it looks like a gold idol that looks like..." He looked at her with a look of fear, "Feikira, this idol looks like.....like....YOU!" Feikira's ears flattened against her head. "Surely it cannot be an idol of me." She edged closer to get a better look. "It's probably some other lutari." She looked at Arin, confusion written all over her face. Arin carefully had another look at the idol. He was sure it was Feikira. "Maybe I should hang on to this we might need it along the way." And with that he put it in his backpack and walked on. Arin didn't know it yet but he had a talent for telling when something odd was up, although he was starting to discover it. He was sure they were being watched... She felt a bit uneasy but Feikira continued along with Arin. Every step they took she grew more and more anxious and soon the red lutari slowed her pace to an apprehensive creep along the dense jungle floor. The tension in the air was almost as thick as the moisture. Finally she paused and halted Arin as well. "May I see that golden figure once again?" Arin looked at her and said "Yea ok." He pulled the statue out of his backpack and passed it to Feikira. He looked at her with concern and worry pasted on his face and said "Feikira you look a little white maybe you should have a drink." He passed her a drink bottle out of his bag still staring at the statue in her hands wondering about it. She handled the object, turning it over a few times before handing it back to Arin in exchange for the bottle. "What is this?" She asked as she opened the cap and sniffed. Arin looked at it carefully then he vigilantly sniffed it. He looked at Feikira in alarm. "FEIKIRA THROW THAT AWAY!!!! SOMEONE SWITCHED MY WATER BOTTLE FOR POISION!!" She calmly and cautiously walked over to a small shrub growing on the jungle floor and poured the contents of the bottle over the tiny plant. The tender shrub suddenly began to blossom. Hot pink flowers bloomed all over the plant and just as quickly each flower burst into flame. The entire shrub was swiftly reduced to burnt ashes. Feikira glanced back at Arin who was completely wide-eyed. Chapter 3 Arin stood there in complete shock and then he fainted...Feikira finally got him to come around. "Feikira it wasn't me. I swear I'd never want to harm you." He looked at her and asked, "Are you ok? You look very pale." She leaned back a bit and swallowed hard. With a toss of her hair and a clearing of her throat Feikira assured Arin. "I'm...fine. Really. What about you? Are you alright? Did you hit your head?" He looked up at her, "I'm glad your okay I have a small bump but its nothing....really." He picked himself up off the jungle floor and gawked at the incinerated plant. "Wow I'm sure glad neither of us drank that. But who put that poison in my back pack? I think back there someone or something was watching us." Feikira stood up as well. With a quick glance at Arin she began trudging forward once again. "We'd best be moving along. I believe I hear some running water ahead. And it looks as though some type of large rocky structures are just past all of this brush." Ok, lead the way!" They trudged on for a few hours before they stopped at a glamorous waterfall with some strange shaped rocks around it. They began exploring around the water fall when Arin fell in the water straight under the waterfall. He tried to grab onto something to help him get up the bank. He grasped something that looked like a wooden carving and it came down. Arin heard a creaking sound behind the waterfall; He went to have a look. With an excited voice he called, "HEY FEIKIRA!" She twirled around to see where Arin was and saw his head poking out from under the waterfall. "Feikira you HAVE to see this!" Feikira started toward the falls and when she got there her mouth dropped at the sight. "Feikira it's a secret passage behind the falls!" How deep is it?" She eyed the dark waterway suspiciously. The water is about 5 inches deep and the cave is…well, I can't tell from here but there are some carved pillars here," Arin said. He pulled out that golden statue from his backpack and looked at it then looked at the pillars. "Hmm... these pillars resemble that statue we found and...." Arin's last words were cut off by a scream from him. He was screaming "Feikira help!!!!" Ears back, Feikira charged into the waterfall ready for anything. She slipped a bit but caught herself before she fell. Her eyes flashed wildly around the cavern as they adjusted to the dimmer light. Chapter 4 Meanwhile Arin was deep in what looked like a cave. He was pinned up by spears and gagged with a coconut. He was silently saying to himself "Feikira please find me. Please I need your help." He looked around and discovered he was in not a cave but a small hut and he heard chanting outside. He tried to find his small pocketknife to cut himself free that had his name carved on it when he discovered he couldn't find it he thought to himself, "I hope I dropped it where Feikira can find it. Maybe it will lead her here." As her eyes adjusted, Feikira noticed a light source coming from the inside of the cavern. She crept against the walls her ears straining for any sound that might indicate others in the cave. After about 5 minutes of stalking through the dampness, Feikira cautiously rounded another bend where the light was more concentrated. As she peered around the slimy rock wall she saw through an opening, to her great surprise, a clearing in the jungle lined with skull tipped spears and filled with straw huts. The faint beat of drums reached her and she was sure that Arin must have been taken here...somewhere. Arin still pinned up on the wall of the hut was really trying to get free or to at least get one arm free. Finally after hours of trying, he managed to unbound one arm and then the rest of him because the huts were old. "Now where's my backpack?" he thought. "I see it!!! Maybe I can see what the compartment on the bottom of that statue has in it." He rummaged through his bag and finally found the statue. "Gotcha! Now let's see what's inside you." Arin opened the statue and out slipped a piece of old paper. He could just see the writing. Read through it, he discovered it was an old text. He flipped the paper over to see if there was anything else to tell him what it was, but alas, nothing. He pocketed the paper and put the idol back in his bag. Just then a shadow descended over Arin. A hand came from behind him and covered his mouth. Arin began to panic and struggle but whatever was behind him was stronger and yanked him against the wall. "Quiet now. It's me," Feikira whispered in his ear. Arin relaxed, "Feikira! Boy, am I glad to see you! How did you find me?" He looked around. "Feikira we should get out of here. Trust me this place is very dangerous. I hate to admit that I'm scared but I have to admit it, I mean I found a piece of paper with ancient writing on it. I can't read it, maybe you can." He showed her the piece of paper and said to her, "Look there is also a drawing of a lutari on it. Do you know who she is? If not maybe this writing can tell us but first we should get out of here!" For now, keep that paper safe so we might examine it later." She indicated that Arin should place it in his bag. "I agree that we must vacate as quickly as possible. We have to be careful though. There are dozen of huts in this village, but in my entire search of the area I have come across no inhabitants." Feikira cautiously peered out the -blocked- "I can still hear the drums and chanting, I just cannot see anyone." She looked back at Arin, "Did you see who captured you at all?" I can't remember who captured me but I remember them saying something like 'You take queen away, for that you must die!'" He looked at Feikira and said, "Thank goodness you came otherwise they would have killed me!" He started to cry quietly. "I'm sorry Feikira, I just can't help it. I'm so scared about what might have happened. I'm also sorry that I put you in danger just by inspecting that statue and keeping it. I should have left it alone." He looked at her. "This is all my fault!" he said. Feikira stalked over to Arin and slapped him across the face. Not hard enough to really hurt but enough to get his attention. "Stop blaming yourself. I need you to pull yourself together so we can get out of here and not get caught." She searched Arin's eyes and softened her voice. "Can you do that?" Yeah. I think I can," Arin said. "Now how can we get out of here?" he thought. Then it hit him! "Feikira I know a way out!! Follow me!" Arin felt along the ground and finally came across a weird shaped hole just big enough to fit a lutari's hand in. "Found it!" He put his hand in the hole and nothing happened. "Hmm...It didn't work. Feikira why don't you try? It might work for you." Feikira put her hand in the hole and there was a creaking sound from below them. "Feikira you did it!!" Arin exclaimed happily. They looked down that dark, deep hole and saw an old staircase that looked like it had been there for years and never been used. "Wow," was all Arin could say when he saw it. Feikira could hear the chanting getting louder and with one last glance over her shoulder she grabbed Arin and headed down the dark staircase. "No time to lose." Chapter 5 While they were running Arin grabbed a few things along the way that he thought he could make something with. An unlit torch, a few pebbles, a piece of flat wood, some rope and some wool. Feikira wasn't too happy about Arin taking his time building this thing since the chanting was coming closer. Finally Arin finished making something; it was a flat piece of wood with a lit torch nailed on the front, a piece of rope tied to the front of the wood, and some wool on the wood. Suddenly Arin jumped on the contraption, grabbed Feikira, put her on the device, sprinkled some pebbles in front of them and shouted, "Hang on!!" They started flying down the stairs faster than they would running with Arin steering what he called a sled. They were both hanging on for dear life and screaming as they went faster and faster... Just when Feikira was sure they couldn't possibly go any faster, the staircase came to a sharp 90 degree turn to their left. They hardly saw the wall before they ran into it, bringing them to an abrupt halt. Then the two lutari and their contraption tumbled down a few more steps to the left finally ending up sprawled out on the dirt floor of a dark musty room. Feikira was lying on her side still clutching her spear while Arin laid spread eagle on his back. His little homemade sled had been turned face down with the light of the torch shielded beneath it. Feikira blinked a few times before she tried to move. She grunted a bit as her muscles protested against such an action. "Ar…Arin? Are you…are you alright?" Arin slowly opened his eyes. "Wanna go down again?" he said grinning slightly. He sat himself up against the cold stone wall. "Feikira, are you ok? You have a nasty cut there." He pointed to a wound on her arm. "Here let me just put something on that." He took a tube of cream out of his pocket and sniffed it just to make sure it wasn't poison or something dangerous. Then he retrieved some fresh water from his backpack and gently poured it over her arm before putting the cream on the wound. Feikira shifted slightly with the pain but made no attempt to stop him bandaging it with his bandana. "Hmm....we fell down quite a few stairs. Where are we?" Feikira was examining the bandage Arin had put on her arm. Without looking up she said, "Wherever we are no one else has been her for quite a long time. This room has the smell of age and loneliness." Then she stood up and sauntered over to the overturned sled. She easily righted the contraption and the light of the torch quickly lit up the entire room. Feikira and Arin both gawked at their surroundings. Arin looked around and said "Well this is turning out to be an interesting walk to the village." As they explored the room Arin got a tingling feeling up his spine as if something was strange about a wall he had seen. It had some more ancient writing on it but this time it had carved pictures above the writing. Arin stood there for a while before he looked across the room and saw Feikira examining a bookshelf. He walked over and said "Feikira, found any books on ancient writing and how to translate it? Because there is a wall over there with some old writing on it and some....." he gulped. "Well let's say not the nicest pictures I've ever seen. Come and have a look." Feikira looked up from a book she had pulled off the golden bookcase. "No I haven't. What kind of pictures?" She started to walk over to Arin when she heard a low rumbling sound and stopped in her tracks to listen better. Arin continued to urge her over and since the faint noise stopped she cautiously strolled over to the wall where he stood. She glanced up the dusty stone wall and saw what Arin had been talking about. Maybe I should write this down." Arin started writing on a piece of paper all the inscriptions and pictures, which he did not enjoy much. About half an hour later he looked up and said "Well that should just about do it. Feikira what do you make of these pictures and inscriptions?" He looked around, he couldn't see her anywhere. "Feikira I don't fancy a game of hide and seek right now." Then he heard a muffled voice and saw the bookcase turn. "Feikira must have found a passage and gone to inspect....hang on...here's her spear she never goes anywhere without it. That's strange." He looked around and then yelled "FEIKIRA!!!! WHERE ARE YOU?!!" Chapter 6 Feikira awoke with a start and then immediately fell back down. Her entire head throbbed. It was darker than the last room she and Arin had been. But where was she now? And where was Arin? Before she could ask herself anymore questions she blacked out once again. Arin started pounding hard on the walls yelling "LET HER GO!!!" Then he thought, "Ok let's think. Yelling won't help Feikira, but this might." He looked at the wall with the writing on it then the statue then at the paper he had found. "Hmm...This is all connected some how but I need to find out how...Oh I know! I forgot about this book I checked out before at the library." He pulled a book out from his bag. "Ancient Writings and How to Decipher Them. Now let's see what we have here…" He opened the book and flicked through to see what he could find and to his amazement he found an exact replica of the wall except for the fact that it had the translation underneath. He looked at the translation and the pictures and all he could say was "Oh dear! I need to find Feikira....Fast!!!" The room was still just as dark as it was the first time when Feikira came to again. This time though the throbbing in her head had subsided enough that she could get a better look around. She sat up from the cold stone slab she'd been laid on. Four torches were lit around her making it difficult for her to see past them into the rest of the room. Unfortunately the little something inside of her told her that whoever, or whatever, brought her here was still nearby. Arin went over and picked up Feikira's spear and held on to it like his life depended on it. He heard a rustling sound behind him and then saw something running towards the wall. Arin started running, looked at the spear and said, "Boy I hope this works. I only have one shot!" He threw the spear with all his might and it landed in a closing crack in the wall. "YES!" He ran over to a rock and pulled a pick out of his bag. "And the guys at home said this wouldn't come in handy!" He started picking at the crack and finally broke a hole big enough for him to fit through. He stepped through the hole and something grabbed him from behind. Arin pretended to faint and the grip on him loosened. Suddenly Arin threw the thing over his head landed on top of it, pointed Feikira's spear at what appeared to be another lutari's throat, and growled, "Where's Feikira? Tell me or else!" Chapter 7 The echoing of voices came to Feikira, but she couldn't quite make them out. She didn't dare move around much more, lest her captors be around to put her out again. It was still too dark for her to see past the torches' light, so she closed her eyes and used the rest of her senses as best she could. Still all she could smell was ancient dust and thick air. But it sounded as though a bit of a scuffle was going on above her. That couldn't be Arin's voice, could it? The scuffle had seemed to stop and Feikira held her breath concentrating only on hearing what was happening in the room above hers. Arin and the other lutari were having a fight just above Feikira. It looked like Arin was going to loose until the statue fell out of his bag and it caught the other lutari's attention. The lutari went over and grabbed it examining it slowly. Arin taking his chance grabbed the book he had and hit the strange lutari on the head with all his strength and knocked him out cold. Suddenly the ground started to break beneath Arin. He just stood there not knowing what to do. The ground broke! He was falling down into another room and he landed on top of something. He looked up and saw it was another unfamiliar lutari, not Feikira, so he whacked that lutari over the head too. He heard a shuffling behind him, Arin spun around ready for anything still holding Feikira's spear and the book. He pointed the spear at what was moving but when he looked closer it was Feikira. "Feikira are you ok? Did they hurt you?" Arin helped her up off the cold, hard, flat stone then handed her the spear. "You dropped this. Taking the firm wooden spear staff in her hands, she nodded her thanks to Arin. "Save for a bit of a lump on my head," Feikira glanced upward, "I'm fine. Thank you." She glanced around the room now noting the fallen lutari, the light of the torches helping her rather than hindering her this time. "Have you gotten anymore information? Arin winced and said "Yes. That writing on the wall was also in this book." He held out the book. "And I don't like the inscription. It says that two lutari will show up one day, one female and one male, one red, one blue." He looked at her then continued, "The red lutari shall be served as queen while the blue one will be…well..." He drew his finger across his throat. Arin gulped then said to Feikira, "Friends till the end? She looked long and hard at Arin. "I won't let it happen. I give you my word. We just need to…" Feikira stopped mid-sentence as the sounds of other movement echoed to their ears. "It seems your new friends are starting to come too," Feikira said in a lowered voice. Arin spun round pulled off his backpack and reached for a heavy tin, "Boy I really hope this works!!!" He pulled off the lid and poured some of the contents onto the floor in front of the charging lutaris. "Hee hee. And the guys at the beach said I shouldn't carry marbles around." All the lutaris that were coming at them slipped on the marbles. As many times as they tried to get up they kept skidding on the marbles. Feikira took her chance and threw her spear into the side of the hut and made a hole in the wall. She then grabbed Arin and ran deep into the jungle. Arin stopped and was fiddling with his bag again. Feikira, waiting impatiently, was tapping her foot. Arin said "Run Feikira! I'll handle them." He threw out some road spikes behind him, then continued running after Feikira. Chapter 8 Arin was so focused on his trap behind him that he slammed into Feikira's back before he had realized she'd stopped. "Oof!" The impact knocked him to the ground. "Sheesh. What'd you stop for Feikira?!" he yelled at her back. It was then that he looked past Feikira's tense form and saw a whole line of the strange lutaris. The green lutari at the front center of the line wore the same brown loin cloth and held a similar spear as the rest of his comrades, but he had a multicolored headdress and large cape-like brown wrapping. He was tall, well-built, and had an air of arrogance about him. Obviously this was the guy in charge around here. He glanced briefly at Arin, almost with a look of contempt, before returning his strong gaze to Feikira. Um...Feikira do you know these lutaris?" Feikira just stood there shocked. He tapped her gently on the cheek. "Hello?...Anyone home?...Feikira will you please answer!" Suddenly the Chief said some mumbo-jumbo and pointed to Arin. Lutaris started coming towards Arin, he had to think fast. "Oh what shall I do!" he thought. "I can't leave Feikira here!" He saw a branch he could reach and just as he was about to grab it and Feikira when he saw a strange red glow behind him. He slowly turned around and saw Feikira setting off a red glow. "What's going on? The red glow around Feikira suddenly transformed into a green glow and she went limp. The green lutari was beside her in an instant and caught her before she fell to the ground. He easily hoisted Feikira into his arms and started to turn away from Arin. Then he twisted back toward the blue lutari, almost as an afterthought, and spat out additional orders to his pack before continuing on his way with Feikira tucked safely in his arms. That's it!!" Arin said. He had remembered how to speak their language and said to them in ancient Lutarian, "I brought your queen here. I have proof too." They looked at him with disbelief as he pulled out the paper that had the lutari and the ancient Lutarian on it. "See? It also says that if you don't let me see her immediately I will unleash terrible wrath upon the village!" Arin of course had written that himself since he could make any writing look alike. The lutaris, with a look of fear, took him straight to her. He casually walked into the room where she was and said "Feikira, wake up it's me Arin." Her eyelids fluttered open and she hugged Arin as soon as she saw him. Arin pulled a bottle out of his backpack. "Here drink this. It will get your strength back up." She drank it and jumped up taking off the garments they had put on her. Then she grabbed Arin, threw him over her shoulders, and ran with almighty speed right to the beach, outrunning the other lutaris. Suddenly Arin fell down and said to Feikira, "I'm not feeling so well." He put his hands on the sand and a blue circle formed around them and then the blue started going up and up until they were in a dome made of very thick ice. "Did I do that?" Arin said before he fainted. Before Feikira could do anything, the pack of lutari had caught up with the two. They surrounded the icy orb and awaited their leader's arrival. Feikira could barely see through the thick blurry walls of ice as the great green lutari soon appeared. She could sense his anger penetrating through the cold barriers. Arin just lay there unconscious, and as frustrated as she was she could think of nothing to do while she felt her energy slipping away from her. A chill ran down her spine and fluffed out through her crimson tail. She had used up all of her renewed strength running to the beach. She hadn't hardly the ability to warm herself. Sinking to her knees, Feikira felt the green leader's energy envelop their frozen sphere. The last she could remember was noticing what looked like vines encase the surrounding ice and feeling like she was floating. Then all was dark. Chapter 9 Arin had woken up and heard the commotion so he pretended to still be out cold. A blue lutari picked him up and carried him somewhere. He heard another one say, "Stay behind we will deal with this one later." The blue lutari that was holding him answered, "Okay." He waited until the other lutaris had gone with Feikira and was about to kick the blue lutari in the face when the lutari slammed him against a tree covered his mouth and said to Arin, "Don't scream. I want to help." He removed his hand. "Why do you want to help?" demanded Arin. "Because..." said the other lutari "...Feikira is my sister. And since she trusts you, I trust you. Nothing will happen to either of you. I won't let it." Feikira still ached everywhere, her head pounded, and she felt as though every last bit of strength had been zapped from her. She hoped that the lump on the back of her head hadn't done permanent damage. Though as exhausted as she was she still had her senses about her and she could tell she was back in the odd village and not alone. "Ah, finally," a deep voice spoke to her. "You would be a quick healer." The green lutari chuckled softly. Feikira allowed her eyes to flutter open. The leader of the strange lutaris lounged in a bamboo chair beside her bed. He had taken off his rather gaudy headdress, but still had his wrapping about him although it now looked a bit disheveled. Something about this one set Feikira on edge. She knew she had to be careful around him. As he leaned forward, Feikira slowly sat up clutching the thick fur blanket around her. "You know, you've been out for about a day and a half." He looked at her while she simply stared back at him. "What? Surprised that I know how to speak your language?" Slowly and deliberately he stood, turned, and then sat on the bed beside Feikira. His dark green eyes searched her fiery ones for what seemed like an eternity. "You really don't feel it?" "Feel what?" she said after a moment. The green lutari hesitated, "The connection between you and me. Feikira's brother, whose name was Kieran, had explained everything to Arin. "WHAT???!!!!" screeched Arin. "Now Arin, calm down," Kieran stated coolly. "CALM DOWN???!! YOU ARE TRYING TO TELL ME TO CALM DOWN WHEN YOUR SISTER FEIKIRA IS IN DANGER?!" Kieran hit him over the face, "STOP IT ARIN!" Arin went quiet. "That's better. Now, our chief thinks that Feikira is his long lost betrothed. I joined here to learn more about them and what Feikira had to do with them." Arin looked blank. "Look Arin, I know that you can freeze water. I saw you do it on the beach. And I can create fire. With these two powers working together I think we can save Feikira. But we'll still need to come up with a flawless plan in order for us to be successful." Kieran stroked his chin deep in thought and his tail twitched much like Feikira's did when she was contemplating her options. "After all these attempted escapes, Chief Gerik is sure to keep Feikira close to him from now on. It will be difficult to get to her unnoticed by him," he mused aloud. Kieran suddenly glanced over at Arin who still sat there like a bump on a log. "Well, do you have any ideas or are you just going to stay in a stupor for the rest of your life? Arin thought about it and said to Kieran "We don't come up with plans easily." Kieran mumbled, "If only there was a way we could fight them but we are outnumb..." "STOP RIGHT THERE!" Arin proclaimed excitedly, "This may sound crazy but I read on the ancient scrolls I found that if an outsider challenges the chief's right hand man, a.k.a. you Kieran, to a battle and wins he can have 3 demands that will be followed exactly. Look, I have the scroll right here." Arin drew the scroll out of his pack and proudly displayed it to Kieran. "Wow…you are right! But who would the outsider be?" Kieran asked. Arin rolled his eyes at him. "Me! You see, if you let me win we can have 3 demands. If you agree to them, I've figured out two of them… 1. That Feikira and I can leave without being bothered. 2. That no other lutari at all will ever be bothered about being the chief's fiancé. And number 3..." Arin smirked at Kieran, "You can choose what that is if you help us." Kieran complied, "Okay, but we have to make it look realistic. Then after about half of an hour I'll pretend to faint." Arin nodded at Kieran, "Okay sounds good." Arin and Kieran started toward the village. Dragging Arin in beside him, Kieran announced to the green leader, "Chief Gerik, this outsider has the ancient scrolls and wants to challenge me to a fight. In return he said he gets 3 demands. The green leader stared blankly at them for a moment then a smirk crept slowly across his face. The decorated chief stood, "Very well. You shall fight tomorrow morning at dawn. And as is custom, as well as written in the scrolls, the outsider shall announce his demands at the traditional warriors' feast tonight." Gerik's dark green eyes gleamed. "Until then you may both bathe and prepare the rest of the day. These ladies will attend you." Several giggling female lutaris surrounded both Arin and Kieran at a wave of the chief's hand. "I shall see you two again this evening then." Chief Gerik nodded to them both and then disappeared into a door behind his throne. That evening Arin came to the feast and sat down. Looking a little nervous he thought to himself, "Well....I can see that I can't state the third request because that one is for Kieran for helping us out." Before Arin could think of a plan the chief came and said with a loud voice "Alright outsider stand. What are your wishes?" Arin stood up, "I don't want to insult your customs but at this present point in time I don't want to state them. You can't change my mind." Chief Gerik glowered at Arin. "OUTSIDER, YOU WILL TELL US OR ELSE!" Arin looked him in the eye and said "I said I am not saying yet. Chapter 10 The next morning Arin got ready for his fight with Kieran. "I hope this works," Arin sighed. Arin walked to the Arena and stepped up to the door "WELCOME TO THE FIGHT BETWEEN AN OUTSIDER AND MY RIGHT HAND MAN KIERAN!" shouted the chief to the crowds. "THE OUTSIDER IS ARMED WITH ....a bottle of water and no armor?" exclaimed the chief. "WHILE OUR CHAMPION IS ARMED WITH A BONE SWORD, A TORCH AND ARMOUR." The chief slid back in his throne and said "What is this lutari playing at? Ah well, LET THE FIGHT BEGIN!" A shadowy figure crept just behind the chief's throne. Feikira carefully peeked her head out from behind the golden chair peering through the decadent feathers that stuck out of the rim of the backing of the throne. 'What in Neopia is going on?' she thought. 'That almost looks like Arin and…Kieran?! If only I had a better view!' Suddenly Gerik's low husky voice reached her ears. "Would you like a clearer view of the battle, my love? You'll be able to see everything if you come sit in my lap." Feikira could hear the mischievous smirk that swept across the chief's face and a blush crept to her cheeks. She flattened her ears and huffed back, "Certainly not. I'm just fine where I am.Here goes nothing," thought Arin as he saw Kieran getting ready for battle. Kieran and Arin walked up and shook hands. "Remember the plan?" whispered Kieran so only Arin could hear. "You bet," whispered Arin so Kieran could just hear him. Arin walked to his side of the arena and Kieran walked to his side. Kieran started the fight by throwing fire balls at Arin. In his defense Arin put up a wall of ice. After quite a while Arin squirted some water into the air and froze it; the signal that the battle should soon be over. For the finish of the battle Arin made a sled made completely of ice and went round and round and round Kieran hundreds of times making him dizzy. Finally Kieran fainted. "THE BATTLE HAS ENDED!" announced the chief. "THE OUTSIDER WINS!! WHAT ARE YOUR WISHES OUTSIDER?" yelled the chief at Arin as he walked up to where the chief was. "Chief, the scrolls say I can have any 3 demands, even if it means giving up your fiancé to me. So you cannot say no to what I am about to ask," Arin stated plainly. "Well ask already outsider!! I promise not to say no to any of your demands because I will pay a great penalty if I don't obey them" said the chief. "Alright first one is that Feikira, yes your fiancé, and I can leave and never be bothered by you or anyone about this again. Second one is that no other lutari at all will ever be bothered about being your fiancé and third…" Arin looked at Kieran, "that he gets one demand." The chief said to Arin "Alright. You drive a hard bargain outsider. Take her!" he thrust Feikira at Arin who caught her. "Now Kieran what is your demand?" glared the chief. Kieran faltered for the briefest of moments. Then he straightened himself and looked Chief Gerik directly in his eyes. "My chief," he began, "You have been a great leader and I have been honored to serve at your side…until now." He glanced back at Feikira and Arin before returning his gaze to the chief. "But the time has come for me to continue on my original path which is not alongside you. Feikira is my sister. And Arin is my friend. My true path is with them. And so my demand is that you allow me to leave as well, to be forever detached from your influence." Kieran swallowed hard at the end of his assertion. Well I am not pleased with this situation Kieran but I must obey our laws," said the chief holding back his anger. "Now the three of you get out of my sight!!! I never want to see any of you again!" yelled the chief. Arin, Feikira and Kieran left the village never to return again but to have more wonderful adventures together.
