The World of Skyrim and its History
...learn the past to decide the future!

Gerrod: Welcome to Skyrim, guest. My name is Gerrod, and I'm Falekor's uncle. I'm borrowing her page to tell you all about the world of Skyrim and its history! Oh, what is Skyrim, you ask? Skyrim is the realm we all live in-- both Edentoth and Aetheria are parts of it, as well as many other countries.
But the main focuses for today are the New Republic of Edentoth, and the Ancient Kingdom of Aetheria. Some notes to remember about both sides:
- Neither side has a royalty, but both countries have noble classes.
- The social hierarchies, while similar, are also different.
- Neither country has islands under its jurisdiction.

Places of Interest
There are many places of interest in Aetheria that are rather renowned worldwide. Read below for a list of them!
The Royal Palace
The Royal Palace in Aelis is perhaps the largest and most magnificent castle in all of Skyrim. It boasts master architecture, an expert's detailing work, and, of course, glorious murals and frescoes painted along its inner walls.
Most of the main floor is open to the public, moreover so people can make use of the Healer's wing, or to make appointments to meet with one or all of the High Council if the aide who is registering the appointment deems it serious enough a problem.
The Guild of Mages
The Guild of Mages has many different outposts in cities spanning the globe, but its first building, and headquarters, is also in Aelis. The Guild welcomes all graduates of the Lusiee, as well as other magical academies, into membership once they come of age.
It's as much a bureau of magical information as it is an extended family; many of the mages live at the outposts, and many others, who travel for a living, bounce from one building to another to stay on their journeys.
But while the Aelis has the main branch of the Guild, other branches specialize in other things. The Oroleusian branch, for example, which is located in the woods at the mideastern foot of the Oroleusian mountains and quite close to the Lusiee Academy, appropriately specializes in elemental magic.
The Lusiee Academy
The Lusiee Academy, located in the upper Oroleusian Mountains, is a school specifically targeted to training children and teenagers who are gifted in elemental magic. The school also serves as a dormitory, meaning the students live on-campus. Though each student follows the workings of one element closely, they learn the very basics of all six.
It costs a hefty sum of money to attend, and therefore generally available to only the nobility and children of wealthy merchants, but the education is a good, thorough one. Students enter at the age of six and graduate at the age of fifteen as a novice in their chosen element. Around age thirteen, if a student is excelling in a particular element, then one of the teachers, who are all masters of a certain element, take them on as apprentices.

The Engineer's Association
The Engineer's Association is a type of guild for the engineers of Edentoth. They have four outposts in four different cities across the country. The headquarters is in Chartreuse, located in southeast Edentoth. and even has members from far away countries!
The Engineer's Association is for all kinds of engineers; civil engineers, who work out where roads and buildings might go; mechanical engineers, who tinker with tools to make mechanical wonders such as typewriters; and many, many more. It's a place for engineers to submit findings and search for knowledge on the subject, much like a library.
The Port of Kings
Currently the largest and most flourishing port in all of Skyrim, it was named the Port of Kings for all the upscale and important business transactions that took place there. The Port isn't technically owned by Edentoth, but it houses it and takes care of it, considering it's on the country's soil.
The Port is more or less neutral ground. People from all over Skyrim, across the ocean, and even from Aetheria despite the war, gather there to trade and sell raw goods. Everything from shady deals to serious ones for the economic well-being of countries take place here. It has its own guard force that is separate from Edentoth's, but they are both supplied and paid by the all the small taxes the country takes from the port.
