Altador Cup V

This will be the fourth year that Paddy (dragonsflame_uk) has played for the Altador Cup.
In the AC II (2007), she played for Mystery Island, followed by Krawk Island in the finals. AC III (2008) saw the finals change, and we stuck with the same team all the way through, with Paddy playing for Altador. AC IV (2009) saw her play for Terror Mountain, and last year's AC V (2010) saw her reach All-Star for the first time, while playing for Moltara. This year Paddy will be playing for....

So what are the games in the Altador Cup?

The Altador Cup games this year are

Yooyuball (of course!) Game play has changed as of the 2011 Altador Cup VI, and now requires us to use the cursor keys, instead of the computer mouse, so practise is strongly advised before the games start on June 1st! There's a super game guide (not made by me, this is one I've come across) here, which is specifically for the new YYB game version *smiles* There are also new power-ups, including: Speed Boost Goal Expansion Mystery Power-up and Freeze Opponent A handy hint for the new YYB game, courtesy of fellow DC player Nicole: I figured out that if you get the ball to the other goalie and LET him get it, then wait while it's counting and steal the ball from him around 4 the goalie will move to the side for some reason, leaving you room to score! I found it help me a lot, so just wanted to share In the previous Altador Cups, scores of 15-0 will not count, so make sure you only score a maximum of 14 goals in each game! If you haven't already got the avatar, you will be awarded it when you get to level 1 (see the shields and ranks below) :)

Slushie Slinger Have you got what it takes to serve the best Slushies in the Altador Cup? Serving the correct flavour will earn you more points. There is a minimum score to count towards an increase in rank, and that is 300. Scores under 300 will still go through, but will not help you to move up a rank. Based on 2010's scoring, two games of Slushie Slinger equal one winning Yooyuball game

Make Some Noise Help the Techo Fanatic to cheer on Terror Mountain as you hit two keyboard keys as fast as you possibly can! Restart the game if the two keys are not easy for you to use (especially useful for anyone with an ergonomicly shaped keyboard!). There is a minimum score to count towards an increase in rank, and that is 3,000. Scores under 3,000 will still go through, but will not help you to move up a rank. Based on 2010's scoring, twelve games of Slushie Slinger equal one winning Yooyuball game

Shootout Showdown See how many goals you can score against a Chia goalkeeper, within the time limit. The game will automatically stop after you score 5 goals, or the time limit is up (whichever happens first). Based on 2010's scoring, twelve games of Slushie Slinger equal one winning Yooyuball game

Altador Cup NC VIP

This year, the NC Mall has a different form of Neocash element for the Altador Cup. We can purchase a VIP pass from the NC Mall, and access a "behind the scenes" area of the Altador Cup, and also collect a daily (neocash) item.
The first pass is currently on sale in the Mall, for 750NC.

For Altador Cup VI, the Staff Tournament has changed - instead of choosing a staff member we think will win, we need to pick an entire Yooyuball team!
We need to select two forwards, two defenders and one goalie:

The shields & ranks

2011's YYB requirements for each of the 21 rank levels are listed below.

It is possible to increase your rank by playing any of the four AC games. The table of shields shows the Yooyuball wins required, but I've added a little table below to show how many scores you need to submit for the other games as well :)

One Yooyuball win is the same as:

• Two Yooyuball draws
  
• Two Slushie Slinger games (minimum score of 300)
  
• Twelve Shootout Showdown games (minimum score of 650)
  
• Twelve Make Some Noise games (minimum score send of 3,000)

So, to get from beginner to rank one, you would need:

• 50 Yooyuball wins
  
• 100 Yooyuball draws
  
• 100 Slushie Slinger (scores over 300)
  
• 600 Shootout Showdown (scores over 650)
  
• 600 Make Some Noise (scores over 3,000)

or of course any combination of those games :)

Yes, for the fifth Altador Cup, the Staff Tournament is back! Sixteen staff members will be picking their favourite team, and competing head-to-head in four rounds.

Make sure to vote in each round, to avoid missing out on qualifying for prizes. Weu don't have to get a certain number of guesses right (or even vote in the first round) to vote for the second, third or fourth rounds. However, TNT have said that the prizes will be better for those with more correct guesses.
Not long after voting closes for each round, the results will be announced. Once all of the results are in, our guesses will be tallied and prizes awarded for the number of guesses we got right.
