The deep pulse of the music could be felt deep within as the bass pounded and the melodies carried out. The room was dark, flashing bright lights giving a split second glimpse at the contents of the room. People dancing. Lights. Flash. Dance. Hot. People were jam packed from wall to wall, dancing, enjoying themselves, the pack of bodies creating an unbearable heat. Up against one wall was the source of the sound, tall towers of speakers flanking a turn table, bright blue and green lights flashing behind it.

If caught in the right moment, the lights illuminated the mastermind of beats. A rather tall, built guy, dark long hair crafted in perfect chaos, the tips bleached white. A pair of big silver Bose headphones fit snuggly over his ears, allowing him control of the music. Eyes closed as he worked his magic, faded dusty black shirt clinging tight to his built frame, black denim jeans tight. Lids finally lift, revealing silvery eyes catching the strobe of the lights, a rather malicious smirk tugging at his rugged features.

He was expecting you, nodding, acknowledging your presence, and threw a black glossy business card in your direction, the corners swirled with bright blue swirls, smaller pale lime colored vines twirling off them. In the center in white letters, five simple letters in a crazy font: "DJ XTC". He motions for you to turn the card over, directing you to a website scrawled on it. On the website? His biography.

My mother was a wonderful person. Such a sweetheart, totally loving and compassionate, carefree. My mother was totally a hippie. To be honest, I never knew her by her real name. She made everyone call her Flower. To her, life was sunshine and peace signs. She never saw the bad in life. I think that's where I got my 'tender' side, and my positive outlook. She always managed to put up with my reckless teenage years, me always getting in trouble, partying with my dad. But boy oh boy, when I needed someone to talk to, my mom was right there. I guess you can say I'm somewhat of a mommah's boy.

Oh Dad. I take a LOT after my dad too. Very wild, very carefree. I swear my parents were meant to be. My dad was really into the rave scene. Loud music, glowing things, neon colors, among other things...I stayed away from those other things. IT was the rave scene that got him into the DJ business, and one of his buddies that gave him the name Cokaine. Bad name, seriously, but oh well. What can you do? I suppose you can call it a family business. My dad's passion for music was infectious, and when I was 9, I got into the DJ business with him, sneaking out and partying it up for my dad.

As far as friends go, I really don't have many. As a kid, we always moved from place to place. Y'know, Flower being that free spirit and all. Neither of my parents really liked to be tied down. But now that I'm old enough and have settled on my own, I'm trying to work out this 'friends' thing.

Adriehn, oh Adri. So, aren't one night stands supposed to be just that? Hah, so tell me why she had to run into me at Best Buy? Girl must be stalking me! Totally joking, really. I'm sure she probably hates my guts, but oh well. If she'd just give me the chance to hang out with her, show her I'm really not that bad of a guy, who knows? Maybe we could be pretty good friends. There's something about the chase in this one that I'm really enjoying. Her tenacious and fiesty personality, the way she can never lose the game, and yet somehow...I always win. Hah. Somehow, she reminds me of the female version of me. Maybe that's why I wouldn't mind rolling with her. I mean, we could all use a little more me.

So this thing called love? Hmmm, never had it before asides from the family thing. I won't lie, beneath my punk azs exterior, there really is a romantic kinda guy. The kinda guy who might lay his jacket (and goodness knows I love my jackets) over a puddle for my lady, just to make her roll her eyes or giggle. Hey, good things come to those that wait. I'm waiting for my good thing to come along.

Really, I think this part is pointless. I mean, why do you honestly need to know everything about? Hmm..? Whatever, I guess if you really need to know, pop a squat, we'll go ahead and tell you. But seriously, you're really gonna be bored, I'm your typical, average...guy. So, uh, here goes.

I suppose we can start off with the part of my life before my life. My parents. My parents weren't your average parents. Maybe that's the only part about my life that wasn't boring. My mom was a tree hugging, peace loving, all around hippe. My father? A glow stick waving, table turning, music pumping raver. Haha, Flower and Caine were meant to be. They met at a party my father happened to be working, hooked up, and oops, had me. Now, usually after a "one night stand", they two never see each other again. But Flower and her 'love' ways, felt that her and Caine were soul mates, and somehow managed to con Caine into marrying her. But I've never seen two people happier and more in love.

So I grew up in a house of love and fun, or so they called it. Which, to be honest, it was just that. It was just the three of us, Flower, Caine, and little baby Ex, such a messed up, but perfect trio. Flower believed in letting us create our own paths, following our hearts, doing what made us happy. Caine on the other hand, believed in just having fu. I lived a very loose childhood. I could go out, do whatever I wanted, set my own curfew, and neither one of them cared. I set my own rules, made my own life, even as a tiny child. However, the two never did have another kid. They said they would never be able to love another kid as much as me. Special, no?

The one thing that Flower didn't believe in was conformity, so she didn't allow me to go to school. Instead, she decided to homeschool me, teaching me the ways of truth, love, and the pursuit of happiness. Caine was never really around to notice I wasn't in school. He was always out promoting his DJ business, his parties. But that never stopped Flower's love for him, or his love for her really. The days he was home, our family was tight knit. I think the one thing we had in common was music. Flower was a huge fan of acoustic guitar, taught me how to play when I was real young. Boy could she sing. Caine was all about the turn tables. I used to sit on his lap and spin my own stuff. I loved it. Homeschooling had its ups and downs though. Sure, I could learn whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted. It really helped because Flower never liked to stay in one place too long. 'Free Spirited' she called it. Whenever she was restless, we'd pack up and move. Being homeschooled meant I never had to adjust to new schools. The downside to homeschooling was I never got much interaction with kids my age; I never really made friends. The only 'friends' I had were friends of my dads.

Caine realized real young that I had a knack for the tables. He'd let me go out with him, spin on his jobs, hook me up with whatever I wanted. I found my passion for mixing just random beats, sounds, whatever I heard. People loved it. So, Caine let me officially work with him as an assistant at 13 years old. Hah. Flower didn't care, she just said do what made me happy. I partied with Caine, spun with Caine, I did everything with Caine. Flower loved it. She loved to see us 'bonding'. Truth was, I looked up to the man. Well, to be honest, I looked up to both of them. I wanted the heart, love, and passion that Flower had, and the skills, romantics, and drive that Caine had.

When I was eighteen, Flower told me I needed to spread my wings and fly. Direct quote, I swear. Caine offered me a full time DJ position with his crew, but that left us still moving from time to time when Flower grew restless. I didn't want that. So, I decieded to take Flower's advice and head off on my own. I moved cross country, started going to college, started my own DJ business, and pretty much started my own life. I realized how much I love the party scene, the girls that DJing brought around, and all the perks. Many could call me a 'ladies man'. Hah. Its funny, when I tell people about my party lifestyle, they suspect all the bad things that came with it; drugs, alcohol, all that good stuff. Nah, seriously, I'm clean as a whistle. Always have been. Took that trait from my parents too. Shoot, you don't need that stuff to make you happy. :p

So, I worked the party scene on campus, y'know, frats, sororieties, house parties, the works. I paid my way through college DJing. At 23, I graduated with a degree in business entrepreneurship. Even after I graduated, I stuck around the college scene, to work the parties. So I was working one party, met this chick, Adri. Y'know, I won't lie. Had a one night stand with her. Didn't expect anything to come from it. Yeah, kinda actually found myself thinking more and more of her. There was something about her...I'm pretty sure it was the fact that I actually had to work for it, chase her. C'mon, who's gonna back down from a good chase?! Really now? Hah, so I did just that, chased her.
