The End of Hytrothia

Eric: I used to be the ruler of a kingdom. Not just any kingdom, but a place called Hytrothia, named after the goddess Hythros. This place was build all out of solid gold, and located in another dimention that you can only get to with the special gold from the palace as your portkey. That's why I carry around a septor, see? Anyways, there were alot of people as you can imagine, but they're so used to the gold being everywhere, they didn't scramble for every nugget they see like those in this demention would. *sigh* You're probably wondering what happened to this special palace, right? Well, the palace had faced alot of fierce monsters, but none like what came to us one day. It was called the Criatura. It had the head of a bull, the shell of a turtle, and the body and quills of a porqupine. Our armies did all they could. Fired arrows, catapults, and enything they could throw at it. No matter what, the Criatura was invincible. It wasn't long until it stole all the gold from the palace, buildings and anything gold in the kingdom, and walked away. I myself hid under an overturned fruit cart. Watermelon stained my neck-dress as I peeked out from under the stand. Seeing that the monster was gone, I fully went out into the open. It was a horrid sight. No survivors. Everyone, dead as far as the eye can see. Horrid. Grim. Since then, I left the demention into this one, and didn't even think of looking for the Criatura, knowing if I did, I would surely be killed. Now I live a normal life amongst my piers, a fraction of the man I once was...

Becoming the King

Eric: To tell you the truth, I wasn't really "born" into royalty. When I was only a baby, my father was a very religious man. After my mother had died, he thought the gods were angry at him. So one night, he took me while I was sleeping. He walked the barrid desserts with me in his arms and his camel, Fred. There was even a sandstorm once, almost killing us both, but my father survived it for the both of us. After what was hours of walking, it was morning. We were all tired as can be, but my father made it to his destination. The temple of Hythros. As I explained in my other story, Hythros is the goddess of our kingdom. The eye is actually Hythros's eye. Anyways, I had no clue why my father would bring me to the temple of Hythros. He set me down on the stone in the middle of the temple, where light from a hole in the ceiling would shine in my tiny face. Suddenly, my father pulled out something from his pack. A small knife. I suddenly realised what my father was trying to do. He was going to sacrifice me to Hythros. Realising I was within seconds of death, I started to cry. Feeling guilty, father said, "I'm sorry, son...". He lifted the blade above his head, and... brought it down on himself. My father had sacrificed himself to Hythros instead of me. Like a baby would after seeing the death of his parent, I screamed and cried all my might, Fred still watching over me. The light from the ceiling burned into my skin painfully, and gave me the black marks of Hythros, with which I still have today. Finally, I heard the voice of a women. "What's that noise?" She looked inside the temple and saw me. "A child!" She saw my fathers body next. She realised what happened. "Awww... poor thing! I'll take care of you!" She picked me up in her arms, and for the first time for that whole day, I felt safe. She took Fred and I into her home. Now you must be wondering, "but how does this make you king?" It turned out that the women was the current king's daughter. With much begging and pleading, he let her adopt me as my foster parent. After those two generations, I had become, what you knew of, the king of Hytrothia.
