The light outside was dim, and didn't allow your eyes to adjust fully to your dark surroundings. Supposing you had taken a wrong turn some streets ago, you cautiously embark down a trodden, empty street. The cobblestones were uneven and loose, causing you to stumble and take tediously delicate steps. Cursing your failed sense of direction, you wander blindly, straining to catch sight of a living building; a glimpse of gaslight through shaded windows.

And it didn't seem long before your tired eyes were rewarded. At the opposite corner of the street was what looked to be a library. It was dingy and run-down, but it looked as if, years ago, it had been grand. A single light was shimmering from a far window, and, hopeful, you shuffle through the huge wooden doors into a musty common room.

Rubbing your hands together, still in dark, you call out tentatively, very aware that you were trespassing. However, you were relieved to hear a warm, elderly voice echo back. Bustling in from another room, an aged Tyrannian lupe holds out a large lantern, flooding the light with room.

You look lost, fine sir. Care for a cup of something warm, and perhaps a crumpet?" He sets the lantern down on a table as he steps toward you, a proud, wise air to his walk.

Stay as long as you like, my dear fellow. I'm sure we could accommodate you in one of these many rooms we have here. My name's Eohskii, and I humbly welcome you to my study.

[ Tales and Stories ]

I have passed through many, many years, and traveled to many places in order to experience many things. Therefore, the story of my past is extensive and could only bore you when told in a large heap like this. My tales were meant to be spun individually, and at a time when their happenings will inspire. Slowly I work on my memoir, but as it won't be done anytime soon, I suppose I could share with you some of my more…captivating moments. Sit down and help yourself to a cup of tea, please. You'll certainly be here long enough.

The Divided Carpenter

Ah, it was a fine day that day. I was much younger – perhaps in my twenties – and was on my first expedition to China. I had done research on the culture, but was still nervous, as I knew nothing about the language, nor the geography. The trip was a gift from a now long gone relative of mine who was eager to see me continue traveling, so I was housed a lot more fancier than my own finances usually allowed.

Well, you can imagine my shock when my directions led me into the front path of a beautiful, elaborately made palace. It was the home of a very well-known Korean spiritual leader, who lead meditations said to rekindle your memories of birth.

--Oh, don't you get excited now! I saw this man only a few times in passing after he welcomed me into his home. On another trip to China, I did attend one of his meditation circles, but that's a story for another day. For now, enjoy this one.

Ahem. Where was I?

Oh, yes. So, when I wasn't out learning the ways of the Chinese people, I was drifting through the majestic halls of this palace. The place was so grand I can nearly swear to you I never went down the same corridor twice. Large statues of jade and gold lined many of the passages, and fine draperies covered large, delicately framed windows that provided views to the various edges of its estates.

Then, one day, I happen upon the looks of a rather empty, dull-looking route. It sharply took my breathe away, seeing as it's dingy, unpainted walls and half-finished structure felt so eerie compared to it's brothers. I was curious, but it's depths simply seemed too dark for lone exploration, so I made to leave. I was stopped, however, by a sharp, eager voice.

EY!" It said, causing me to turn myself back around in alarm. Slowly, a ragged-looking Lenny in a worn Chinese gown revealed himself from the shadows, continuing in nearly flawless English.

…Don't tell anyone about this place?" He had a look of longing and concern on his face, and I sensed that he meant no harm, so I joined him for a cup of tea at his abode. It turned out, however, that his abode was that dingy hallway. The bird's name, it turned out, was Lungshan Lin, and he was once a well-known carpenter hired many years ago to repair a section of the palace after a major flood. The work was so grueling and intricate it took him nearly his entire life to finish one hallway. The Lenny was left to age in despair, knowing nothing but the blueprints of the passage walls.

He grew wise as he slowly turned into a hermit, however. The years of work had made him strong and tolerant, and the homeless who took shelter in the woods around the palace would sneak him food and whisper him secrets of nature through cracks in the windows. The wonders they passed on to him made Lin excited to spread this knowledge to the world, but, alas, he had been cooped up in the ways of the palace for so long, that he couldn't find his way out!

So the same routine had continued for nearly 10 more years before I stumbled upon him. Now, of course I led him out and helped him find his family's new settlement, and in exchange, he let me in on the secrets he had learned.

They were so elaborate and beautiful I instantly knew why they were kept so low-profile, and I swore not to repeat them until I found the right ears, aha, but I'll let you know I never got lost in a jungle again. And I've never taken any form of medicine that I haven't harvested myself from nature, either.

[ Friends and Alliances ]

Ah, yes. Sir Phillpott; my apprentice. He's quite the rascal this one. My boy always has his head in the clouds, both literally and metaphorically. He's got a crazy fascination with the technology I believe is not only destroying his own mind, but the world's ability to work for themselves…Ahem. Yes, well! I can only hope that the lad will grow out of this phase and put his head to something more worthwhile. He certainly has a good one. No matter how much of a handful he constantly proves to be, never will I tire of him zooming about by my side.

And I am proud to announce my relationship with my esteemed colleague and dependable friend, Sir Schlupi. He's a dear man who is kind enough to let Sir Phill and I shelter with him in his library, and I will never tire of the absolutely magnificent conversations we can have together. Oh, and he's a sorcerer to boot! The wonderous things I've learned about the ways of magic though his knowing hands in a way books could never permit me.

[ Love ]

Oh, but love is such a strong word, isn't it? Yes, I have loved in my time, and, of course, lost as well. Alas, let me recite to you the all too true phrases spun by Shakespeare, in the tragic love tale of Romeo and Juliet:

Why, such is love's transgression.
Griefs of mine own lie heavy in my breast,
Which thou wilt propagate, to have it prest
With more of thine: this love that thou hast shown
Doth add more grief to too much of mine own. Love is a smoke raised with the fume of sighs;
Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers' eyes;
Being vex'd a sea nourish'd with lovers' tears:
What is it else? a madness most discreet,
A choking gall and a preserving sweet.

[ Quill Adoptables ]

Requests: Shooks and good friends only
Trades: Open!

You know the rules. If you steal these, don't link back, ect., I'll find you. Don't think I'm kidding.

Not that these aren't species specific, so if you have something other than a lupe, don't hesitate to ask-I can probably make it happen.
