Welcome to all the new and returning SK members.
Please be sure to familiarize yourself with the board rules and all the 'challenge' rules
History
The Shenkuu Scoreboard was first started during the ACII to provide a place for Shenkuu players to play the AC games along with others while keeping track of the total score among the members.
Throughout the competition certain challenges were created to encourage more game play among the members. These challenges include game marathons and sprints to a certain score for a game.
After the ACII finished and we had no more need to keep score we became the Shenkuu Relax and Chat Board or R&C for short. Here we have fun and just chat and help each other as we go on with our Neopian lives. We also implemented the Shenkuu Rehab Center for all those with need help with game obsession, extreme luck, or just plain insanity. See links for more about the Rehab Center.
The AC IV has started up. So get to playing.

Rules
General Rules

- ALL NEOPETS BOARD RULES APPLY!!
- No bashing other teams
- NO spam/avvie posts
- No hateful arguments allowed, only friendly ones
- Please try to keep chatting to a MINIMUM during the cup
Making the next board
- During the cup: the First Regular Scoreboard member to post on page 23 is responsible for making the next board.
- During the off season: First Regular Scoreboard member to post on page 24 makes the next board.
- No using side accounts to talk to yourself in order to pwn
- A bump or smiley on the pwn page does NOT get the pwn. It will be passed onto the first non-spam post of the page.
- Members are limited to 3-4 pwns in a row.
- For what needs to be on the next board check the Section on First Post here
Submitting your scores
The layout for submitting your score is on a blank post have the score you want to submit along with the game name or it's abbreviation on one line. If you
want to post scores for more than one game have each game on it's own separate line.
Ex.
54 YYB
987 SOSD
3872 SS
10284 MSN
There are three times to submit your score
- As you play - post your score on the board every time you finish a game.
- During Random Intervals - Personally keep track of your scores and then post the total through out the day. Can be after a certain time or after you
play a certain number of games. NOTE: When using this method only post the amount you gained since your last score posting NOT your total for the whole day
so as not to confuse the scorekeeper.
- End of the day/Dump - Keep track of your own score and post your whole days total when you stop playing for the day.
Scorekeeper eligibility
To be eligible to be scorekeeper you must meet these requirements. A more in depth list of Scorekeeping duties are listed in the scorekeeping section here
- Be playing for Shenkuu in the current AC competition
- Willing and able to keep track of all the numbers posted on the board and be able to add them together.
- Have a good knowledge on how the challenges work and how to run them.
- Are a recognizable participant of the board and have been posting your scores for a minimum of two(2) days before volunteering to be Scorekeeper.
NOTE: The members list at the bottom of this page may be used to keep track of who is eligible to be Scorekeeper. If you are not on that list you must be
vouched for by at least one but preferably more people on that list to be allowed Scorekeeper Duties.
- DO NOT scorekeep if your computer tends to lag, if you may have to leave soon, or if your computer may disconnect from the internet.
Challenges
[top]
Marathons
- The scorekeeper will set an allotted time to play for (usually between 25-40 but can vary)
- Participants will then just play as many games as they can(getting the highest score they can) in that allotted time.
- DON'T post your scores during the marathon but keep track of them yourself.
- At the END of the marathon post your totals that you got.
[top]
Races/Sprints
- The scorekeeper will set an score to play to for one game or for all the games this is the goal.
- Participants will then just play the specified game(s)
- Scores should be posted as you complete the game or at very frequent intervals
- The race is over when the scorekeeper says the goal has been reached.
[top]
Checklist
- The scorekeeper assigns a certain number of each game to play
- You then go off to play the specified number of games while keeping tack of your totals yourself
- You post you totals either when you finish all of one games on the list OR after you finished the entire list
[top]
Missions
- Scoremonster gives everyone (voluntary) a personal goal for a game(s)
- You are "banished" from the board until you reach that goal
- then you post your score

Scorekeeping
Scorekeeping is an incredibly important job, so there are several rules that one must know before volunteering. This is an outline on all the responsibilities of the scorekeeper and how best to scorekeep. Rules for who is eligible to become Scorekeeper are in the "Rules" section above.
Types of Scorekeepers and their responsibilities
Within the Scorekeepers ranks there are 2 different types of score keepers. There are the Official Scorekeepers and Temporary (Temp) Scorekeepers.
Official Scorekeeper Duties

Official Scorekeepers are trusted members that will keep the full days total and run challenges for the players. These scorekeepers are listed below. Ideally the scores will be kept only by those labeled as Official or Listed scorekeepers. However, sometimes an Official keeper may need to leave when another Official is not present. In such a case, the following actions should be taken:
Pick a Temporary Scorekeeper to continue. Have that Temp set up a race in ALL games with high goals. Stop adding scores and calculate your totals not including the Temp's race. Neomail other Officials the Totals and ask them to scorekeep as soon as possible.
By following this method, the arriving Official scorekeeper will only have to add in the Temp's race when they come to take over scorekeeping and no scores will be lost. This also prevents Temps from accidentally or purposely revealing our actual totals on days when percents are in effect.
Scorekeepers must also run all the competitions for the players and be familiar with how races and marathons work. If an Official has not run a challenge for awhile, feel free to gently poke them and suggest a race or marathon. The race/marathon total must be kept separate from the Day's Total until the race/marathon is complete. At that time, the score for that race/marathon may be added to the Day's Total.
NOTE:On percentage days the totals for challenges will still be shown as actual numbers and will only become percents when added to the Day's Totals.
Temporary Scorekeeper Duties
A temporary scorekeeper could be anyone who plays for Shenkuu and is recognized as a loyal player. That means YOU, yes YOU could be a Temporary Scorekeeper for our team! Temporary scorekeepers are NOT responsible for keeping track of the day's totals, so you can dump out that bucket of sweat. As illustrated above, a Temp scorekeeper will be in charge of races for ALL games during the period in which an Official scorekeeper is not present.
If an Official would like to play YYB, MSN, or SS, he/she may also ask if a Temp would like to keep score for awhile.
Hopefully the races will last long enough for another scorekeeper to arrive, but if it doesn't, you need to follow this simple action:
INCREASE the goals, but DO NOT change the totals. If a Listed Keeper has not arrived and players have hit their goal, say 100/100, simply increase the goal: 100/200. No worries.
Just as an Official may have to leave, so may a Temp. So what should you do?
Select another Temp and hand the race to them. You do NOT need to nm officials. Simply make sure that there is another Temp to take your place to continue adding the race.
Day's Totals
Because players enjoy seeing the progress the team is making Officials are also required to post the current total score against the goal of the day in this format:
[Game Abbreviation] [current total]/[goal for the day]
YYB 2304/5000
SOSD 128300/300000
SS 106870/400000
MSN 114593/700000
[Name of the last post to be added]
Percent Days
As any sports patron knows, some matches are more important or difficult than others. On such days, it will be announced that it will be a "percent day". On these days, the ACTUAL Day's Totals will not be shown. Instead, a percent will be shown to mark our progress.
YYB 34%
SOSD 27%
SS 15%
MSN 57%

At the end of the day (12AM NST) the Actual Day's Totals will be revealed so that we may gloat in our accomplishment. It's actually a rather nice surprise to see what you've accomplished secretly on such an important day!
As you can imagine ONLY Listed scorekeepers will have access to our actual totals and our goals for the day. The rest of us will have to wait 'til the end of
the day for the big surprise.
NOTE: Races, Marathons, and any other challenges' totals will be shown normally to prevent confusion. ONLY the Day's Totals will be shown as percents to
prevent the other team from knowing what they need to beat.
How do I keep scores?
The easiest way to scorekeep is to pull up 3 seperate calculator applications on your computer. Use one for each type of score. When scores are posted, add them to the correct calculator to keep a running total of each type of score. Paper and pencil is NOT recommended.
For SS and MSN it IS acceptable to round scores DOWN to tens for easier and faster scorekeeping.
1246=1240
605=600
4503=4500
However, YYB MUST be accounted for in full.
3=3
27=27

FAQs
About Scorekeeping
Our scorekeeper disappeared! The board is about to explode! What should we do?
---
Firstly, make SURE the scorekeeper is really gone. If so, somebody who is able to add scores should volunteer and add the scores where they believe the
keeper left off. Now this is very important.
STOP POSTING!!!
Your board is almost dead and the new keeper can't very well add scores if they explode. Just refresh and wait patiently, yet anxiously, for them to post the
totals of what the keeper had missed.
If this is NOT a percent day, find the last post of Day's Totals and add what the keeper missed to it.
If this IS a percent day, find the last post of Day's Percents and post BOTH that AND what the keeper missed. This is important so that the new keeper may
calculate the totals and add in what was missed correctly.
Once the scores are safely added and a new keeper is in place, business should continue as normal, with the pwner of page 23 in charge of creating a new
board in the format specified.
I'm taking over as a Temp, but now I have to leave! Should I just go?
---
NO! If you are aware that you will need to leave, but have some time, use that time to find another Temp keeper and hand the race to them. If you must leave
IMMEDIATELY. Announce that you are leaving and specify where you left off. Hopefully some kind soul will pick up for you.
Our Temp is adding incorrectly!
---
Uh-oh. If they missed a post, kindly point it out to them, but if the scores are becoming wildly skewed and you know for 100% (that means double check for
yourself) that their scoring is consistently incorrect and you've had to point out mistake after mistake, then please confront them kindly and offer to take
over for them, because apparently you have that sort of time on your hands anyway.
Ex.
Are you busy with something else right now? Your scores are off. I could take over for you if you like.
If they refuse and the scores continue to stretch crazily despite complaints from other team members, keep score yourself instead and post it. Explain to the
next Official who arrives and they can look back for themselves.
Ex.
Okay, will both of you continue to keep score while I check?
If two scorekeepers arrive, one could continue to scorekeep while the other checked.
NOTE: DO NOT accuse a Temp of adding incorrectly in order to make them step down so that you may be a Temp instead. Time not scorekeeping is time to use for
playing for your team. If someone else was picked to be a Temp, respect that and keep volunteering for the next time.
