about this page
welcome! i'm jessica. i decided to make this page to point out the maybe not-so-obvious methods i use when taking advantage of the shop wizard to price items for my shop. it all comes down to one thing- knowing the shop wizard secret!
knowing how it sorts!! yes, the SW isn't
completely random. right now, you are in one of his groups, based on the first letter of your username. the group never changes. they are as follows:
AN0
BO1
CP2
DQ3
ER4
FS5
GT6
HU7
IV8
JW9
KX_
LY
MZ
my username is elmolvesme9393, so i am in the ER4 group. if your name is neo_lover_123456789, you are in the AN0 group. pretty easy to figure out which group you're in.
when you search for an item, the shop wizard will desplay prices for that item from one of the groups. if you refresh that page, he will display results from a different group. which group he displays is random.

the shop wizard secret has a few benefits:
1. you know who you're competing with
2. you can easily find out how much you should sell an item for in your shop
3. it's easy to snipe! (i'll explain that later)
4. some new players assume that the first results the SW gives them is the best. if your group comes up and you have the lowest price, they'll buy from you!

here's how to get your items to sell, plain and simple: have the lowest price for that item in your group. think about it, have you used the SW and scrolled down to the most expensive price for an item? no! you want to save money, and so does everyone else. if you know the shop wizard secret, you can search for an item and see how much it goes for in your group and then find the perfect price.

you know how on commercials they price items for $19.99? you probably wonder why they don't just say $20.00. plain and simple, it's more appealing. like you would buy an item prices 3599np before you bought one priced at 3600np. depending on the current lowest price in your group, i would decrease that number by 1, 5, 10, or 100. it's all personal preference.

sniping is finding an uncommonly low price on an item, buying it, and reselling it for the actual price. say i was using the SW to find the price of a Kora petpet because i just got one from Tombola and wanted to sell it in my own shop. so i refresh results a few times and see they are usually around 4,000 np or so, depending on which group i'm looking at. i refresh another time and- WHAT?! one is priced at 2,600 np! so i hurry up, click to that shop, and buy it. mwahahaha! now i look to my sorting group and see how much we shop owners in the ER4 group sell Kora petpets for, which is about 4,600. then i would put the petpets into my shop for a certain amount based on my group, and mke a profit. i just sniped that petpet and make a 2k profit off of it.

okay, i wanna snipe. where do i start?
if you have an item in mind, get searching! refresh, refresh, refresh! if you don't know what to search for, try things that people are always looking for, like codestones, neggs, stamps, plushies- anything people collect. i usually only snipe an item i can make a profit of at least 500np on.

some people feel sniping is wrong because it's sort of like stealing from the person. some people feel that if they made the mistake, they pay the consequences. now sometimes you can tell if someone really made a mistake. lets say someone had an item that usually sells for 80,000np, but they left out a zero and priced it at 8,000np? there are some generous neopians who have bought that item, not for their own use, but to be nice. they then fix a trade to get the original seller their item back, and the seller gives the buyer that 8k they just spent to help them out, plus a big thank you!

sniping ettiqite
let's make this short and sweet: if you get a steal, do not neomail the seller saying "haha n00b, i just bought an expensive item off of you for like 10% of what it should have been! you're so dumb!" just don't. meepits will eat ya. i've seen it happen.
