Hi there! Welcome to Bisou (bee-zoo), a custom and premade adoptable site by Ashe. Here, you can request cute Gijinka adoptables to represent your neopet, yourself, or even an item! If you have more questions about Bisou. Please read the FAQ first and if your question isn't answered, then send me a neomail!

What's a Gijinka? Gijinka (Western term Humanization) is the Japanese meaning of "humanoid", "personification", or "anthropomorphic". Rather than referring to just any animal with human characteristics, a gijinka is most often a re-design of an animal-like character/inanimate object in a human or humanoid form. The characters often seem to wear a cosplay of the base character rather than having real animal features.

Hello all! I'll be working on some requests today!
*Not site related* Some reason I woke up at 6am... :c Not even tired. Oh well. Lately I've been practicing drawing non-chibis as well. Since it feels like I haven't really gotten better at drawing (in years), I'm going to actually try now haha Don't worry though, I'll still be doing chibis for Bisou too :)

I did a link sweep of my affiliates and listers. Sites that were inactive/closed were removed. With that said, there are 4 affiliate spots available! Please don't apply if your site has barely any content. I'll be looking for owners that show dedication and effort put into their site.
The poll has also been removed. Thanks guys for sending in your feedback! Since most people found the chibi maker to load good enough, I won't be removing any content. This poll may take place again in the future when tons more items have been added.

Surprise! :D Bisou has a new layout! Hope you guys like it! I was trying so hard to not make it pink (like Charme's layout) and so it ended up being more purple/blue which I'm happy about :D
Both Chibi Maker's also have new layouts to match the new site design! Check them out!
Both the Male and the Female Chibi makers have new content in the Limited Edition section! (pastel color clothes!)
There is a new POLL up! It's about the chibi maker and ways I can improve it. If you could send me your feedback, I'd really appreciate it!

    Chibi Maker Poll

Bisou's Chibi Maker is starting to load pretty slow for some people. I'm still going to be adding new content (which might make it load even slower!) Would you guys like to have SOME content removed and new content be replaced? Note: This doesn't mean everything in the maker is being re-made. Just items that aren't as popular will just simply be removed. Here's my questions for you guys:

How fast does the Chibi Maker page load for you?
    1. Fast: Not a big deal to wait for loading time. (6)
    2. Medium: It's a little slow. (6)
    3. Slow: It's too slow and takes too long to load.

Would you like new content to replace the old content (not all, just some)?
    1. No, I like all the content, please don't remove anything. (5)
    2. Sure, remove some of the less popular content. (6)
    3. Yes, a heavy revamp of the content would be nice.

Here's a form with the questions:

    Neomail me your thoughts!

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I request just a human adoptable?
Yes! The adoptable doesn't have to be part neopet.

Can you draw it's face/hands/feet more animalistic or like my neopet?
No, sorry! I draw them as mostly humanoids. I will add elements of your neopet like a tail, ears, horn, etc but I won't change their face or skin to fur.

    Can they be holding anything?
For the most part, yes. If it's conflicting with the pose then we can discuss the issue.

    When will you open requests?
I get this asked A LOT when requests are closed. Please read my updates since I usually say when I'm close to finishing the request list.

Can my adoptable be holding a petpet/neopet? I've seen some in your portfolio like this.
No sorry. That pose was limited edition and was given out as a prize in one of Bisou's events. It's not available anymore.

Am I allowed to request the skin color to be different?
I only offer 2 different skin tones. One is the light skin tone which most adoptables have and the second is a darker skin tone. (to see how dark, you can view my portfolio) Please don't request a skin tone in between these two.

I like an adoptable in your portfolio, can I use it?
Yes. While the adoptables in my portfolio are personal requests, I will still allow others to use them. If one has a name on it already, feel free to request me to add your name onto it. (you don't need to wait for the waiting list to be open, I can do it quickly) If you're able to add the name yourself, feel free.

Can I use your adoptables in my graphics or premade/custom layouts?
Yes, feel free to add the adoptables in layouts or in your own graphics. Whether the graphics are for personal use or premades, it's allowed as long as their is a link back to Bisou for credit.

Something is wrong with my finished request. Can you edit it?
No. I don't save the .PSDs to edit them. Make sure everything you want accounted for is in your request. It's not my fault if you forgot to fill out everything on the form.

    STEP 1 - FIGURE SKETCHES

First step to creating your chibi is to know what kind of pose you want to draw. There's many ways to think of poses! You can browse other artwork, view stock photos, or just come up with a pose in your head! Here's some easy steps to help you get started!

    Analyze other body forms.

Here's a basic way to figure out your pose. I'm only using circles and lines here. To get used to this concept, we're going to breakdown some already drawn poses into basic circles and lines. So let's grab a bunch of artwork! I'll use this picture since there's many poses here:

  • 1. Start with the line going down her spine. This doesn't have to be carefully drawn, do it quickly and perhaps even sloppy!
  • 2. Next, add 2 horizontal lines to indicate the shoulders and her bottom.
  • 3. Now to finish it off, add her head, legs and arms! Make sure to get all of her movements drawn down into your drawing!

  • Pretty easy right? Here's the rest of the poses. (drag and drop image to adress bar for full version) Do this exercise with a bunch more poses and soon you'll get the hang of it!

    STEP 2 - THE BODY

So you have practiced doing a few figure sketches and you're ready to start on the real body!

We'll start by making a guide to help draw the anatomy of your chibi. Start by drawing 4 horizontal lines with a vertical line right down the middle like in the picture above. The space between the lines is up to you, but I tend to make the top and bottom sections slightly arger than the middle section. (this is all up to your personal style, you can do a different way!)

Now, I know what I want my pose to be like, so lets add our little stick figure that we practiced in the previous tutorial.

I now begin to draw in the real form of the body in detail. These are chibi's so don't make your body too realistic, it's suppose to be a simplified version of the body. I first start with the head and continue down the body using the lines in the back as my guide to make sure proportions are correct. (note: proportions in chibis are all up to your style, there's no right or wrong!)

To finish it off, I add the arms and hands, still using the lines in the back as my guide.

    STEP 3 - THE FACE

So we finished the body and now we need to add the details to the face! Lets start by using the circle of the head you drew earlier. Now add a vertical and horizontal line through the middle of that circle.

Now, you see the 2 blue intersections that are circled? You're going to draw your chin line by starting at the top of that first circled area and draw down to the next circled area. Repeat this step on the other side. Once you have the chin drawn, add another horizontal line, right below the first horizontal line.

Now it's time to draw the eyes! You might want to practice drawing them to the side before you place them on the face. In the picture above, you can see the steps to drawing the eyes. First you draw a circle/oval (your preference). Then you add extending lines on the bottom and top to define the eye better. Then lastly, you add in some cute details like eyelashes!

When you place the eyes on the face, make sure the top of the eyes match with the top horizontal line and the middle of the eyes matches with the bottom horizontal line. Once you placed the eyes, erase the guide lines and your face is done! (I choose not to add noses or eyebrows, but you certainly can!)

    STEP 4 - THE HAIR

So our face is done and now we just need to add hair! First, off on the head to the left I drew a line over to show how high the hair will actually be. It goes way over the basic circled head. Now, begin drawing some basic bangs on the head! You'll want them to be mostly inside of the circle except for the sides.

Our bangs are drawn in so now we need to draw the rest of the hair! I start at the top and make sure the hair is way over the basic circle shape of the face. This gives her hair some volume and isn't flat! After drawing the hair, erase the circle inside (the head part) and you're now finished!

    COMPLETE WALKTHROUGH

Here I will explain the whole process of completing one of my chibis! Note: None of this is the correct way to draw proportions or anatomy. Everything is just my style and way of going about things. Everyone draws differently and my way is by no means the right way! So, lets begin! Important: I'll be using photoshop cs6. Every color represents a different layer. I won't say when to make a new layer so just remember every color is a new layer!

I'm going to skip the step of figuring out how tall my character will be and the proportions. It comes as second nature when you do it enough and find your style so lets begin with the basic pose. I like to draw the head first (I know you're not suppose to, but I do) from there I draw a line down the spine and end it at the hips. Then I add the shoulder line and add the legs. The legs are slightly pointing inward!

So continuing with the head, I add a line straight down the middle and across. The vertical line will show where the chin will be and the horizontal line will help me shape the side of the face + add eyes.

    1. Now, lets shape the face. See the arrow on the left? we want to draw a line from that point, all the way to the arrow on the right. Use the green horizontal lines to help you! But don't forget the green vertical line! That will help you find the center of your chin.

    2. I went ahead and outlined the rest of the top of the head. Then I began outlining the shoulders, arms, and torso. I won't be drawing the left side because that portion will mostly be covered up by whatever the character will be holding :)

    3. Next, lets add the legs! Use the blue lines as your guide. I made them slightly pointing inward for a cute stance :)

    4. Now lets add the eyes and face! Here I added the the basic outline of the eye and an example of the eye when it's blinking. Note how the green line cuts through almost about the middle of the eye.

    5. Next, I added the eyeball and added eyelashes. I also got rid of the green horizontal/vertical lines.

    6. I went ahead and added the body of the creature the character will be holding. I erased parts of the blue lines to make room for the creature.

    7. Yay! Our base is now completed! Our character now needs some clothes. Lets go ahead and draw on a basic dress and shoes!

    8. Now lets add some cute hair :D

    9. After that, I erased all of the blue lines that needed to be hidden. Our character is coming together!

    10. Our line art is almost complete, but we need to finish off the little creature! I've decided mine will be a silly kitty :)

    11. Alright! My line art is done! Now, lets merge all of our layers and pres ctrl + U. Set the lightness to -100 and all of our lines should be black now.

    12. Now lets begin coloring! Make a new layer underneath the line art layer. I use #ffffdf for skin tone and #ffb891 for the skins shade color. Normally, you start out with your base colors but I ignore this for the skin since it's so simple. So let's lay out the skin base color first because its the color underneath everything else.

    13. Next I'm going to add my skin shade color. I just like to get the skin out of the way :)

    14. Lets just fill in the rest of the base colors! (refer to the separate eye tutorial for how to shade eyes)

    15. Create a new layer and set the blending mode to Linear burn. (for more info on this setting, read here. Lets use a color like #c9c9c9 and begin shading!

    16. I'm not happy with how the grey color turned out so lets press ctrl + U and make sure there's a check mark next to "colorize". I changed the color of the shade from #c9c9c9 to #e0c0b3 for a more colorful look.

    17. Final step! Lets make a new layer and set the opacity to 80%. Lets use a plain white and add some highlights on her hair, and we are done! Remember, you can experiment with changing the colors of the lines, adding patterns, and doing much more!

    SHADING: GENERAL TIPS

In this tutorial, you will learn a quick and easy way to shade over gradients and solid colors. No need to keep changing your colors manually for each darker shade! Before I begin, please note: This tutorial is for photoshop users. I'm using CS6.

So lets say you have your base colors laid down already in photoshop. I set my layers up so I have 2 layers right now: the line art and the base colors. (not including the bg layer)

Now, let's make a new layer and name it "shade". Place that layer above the base color layer. Now set that layer to "Linear Burn".

Now we can begin to shade! Lets pick a light grey color (I used #d3d3d3) and begin shading! I'm using just a basic round brush. You can go over every color base color the the shade will conform to the color below!

Note: Since we're using grey as the shade color, sometimes it may look a bit dull. Don't be afraid to use Hue/saturation (control + u) to change the color!

    SHADING: EYES

In Step 3 - The Face you learned how to draw the eyes but now we are going to continue to work with the eyes and learn how to shade them!

So we have our eyes drawn out already. Now lets add the base color of the eyes! This is the color that will appear at the bottom of the eye. Photoshop users: I make the line art one 1 layer and the base colors and everything else on a separate layer behind the line art.

Now we add our shadow to the eye. I draw the shadow with a slight curve to show the roundess of the eyes but don't make it too curved or else it might look like your eyes are looking down!

Next I add the pupils! I use a lighter shade, even though most people make the pupils black or a really dark color. This is up to you!

Lastly, I add some light being reflected onto the eye by putting little dots of white around the pupil. And here we have it, the eyes are finished!

    EXTRAS: Valentine Event

Hello! My name is Ashe and I am the creator of Bisou. I'm currently 23 and I graduated with a bachelor of fine arts. My art style is heavily influenced by Japanese illustration because when I was younger, I would love to draw my favorite anime characters :) I do love anime still, but currently I'm only watching One Piece and Shingeki no Kyojin.

The reason why I really love Bisou so much is because I get to be a little fashion designer. Not only do I get to draw but I never get tired of coming up with designs for the outfits. If only I could sew now... :(

My goals since Bisou opened are to provide quality adoptables as well as finish requests quickly with great quality. And even though there are a ton of requests, I try my best to make each adoptable unique. Some people request same hair/dress as others but I'll still try my best to make small details different.

I also run a few other sites including my Blog where I talk about all my sites and random things outside of neopets :)
