Introduction How daring of you to come to my wood at such an hour." By the tone of its voice you confirm it to be a male, and judging by its looks Tyrannian as well. Not the kind of creature you want to get angry, that's for sure. You tense as he starts toward you and begins to circle. His gaze never lifts from your form and you can hear him lightly sniffing the air around where you stand. When he gets back to the path before you, he speaks again. What is your name, strange intruder?" Nervously, you answer him, and seconds later a strange noise alerts you both. The squall of an unknown creature hiding among the trees nearby. The lupe's ears immediately snap towards the direction of the sound and he stares into the blackness. Come guest, we must leave this place. There are...things...about this time of night. It would not be pleasant to run into them." You follow the strange lupe through the woods, and away from the path you were on. In an attempt to break the silence and find out more about this strange looking lupe, you ask him his name. My name? It's Tsuyo sa. But you may just call me Tsu. Don't worry, I've no plans to hurt you. However, you are intruding on my territory, but you seem lost, so I'll let it slide." After a few minutes, a deep rumble of thunder breaks the silence again. Mere seconds after, a flash of lightning streaks across the sky, lighting up the entire forest as if day had broke. Looks like we'll need to run, lest we fancy getting wet." With that, the lupe holds his wings tight against his back and makes a mad dash through the trees. You take one last look at the uneasy sky before following him. Periodically he'd look over his shoulder to make sure you hadn't fallen behind. Minutes later the rain began to spit, and soon after the sky opens up and begins to pour. After about ten minutes of sloshing through the rain, you notice a large cave up ahead. Thankfully, Tsu heads straight for it. This must be his home. Once inside the mouth of the cave, Tsu shakes the rain from his shaggy coat and heads further inside. You wring the water from your clothes and follow. Up ahead you see sparks flying in the darkness, and soon a small fire erupts on the ground. Looks like you'll be staying here tonight. I apologize for the...primitive nature of my home, but at least it's warm and dry." You thank him for his hospitality, especially considering you're a complete stranger, let alone an intruder. He lies down near the blaze and closes his eyes. You should probably get some sleep as well. But you can't help but wonder about the strange looking lupe. A lupe with wings? It was unheard of. You must have fallen unconcious on the path in the wood, and Tsu is just a dream. Or perhaps a nightmare. Yes...that must be it. You're dreaming. A lupe could never have wings. But then again, the cave floor is awefully cold, and hard. What if you're not dreaming? You find yourself involuntarily staring at the beast lying on the floor next to the fire and immediately look away. As if he could feel your eyes upon him, Tsu opened his lavendar eye and looked towards you. As if he understands your thoughts, he smiles and lifts his head up. I bet you're wondering about the wings, hm? It's a bit of a long story, but seeing as you seem curious, and neither of us will be going anywhere anytime soon, I suppose I can tell you, if you're willing to listen." Back to Top Story of the Maudire Chapter One - Kidnapped The NiTah clan was ruled over by the clan leader; a very strong yet kind-hearted lupe named Opak. While he ruled with an iron paw, he only ever did what was best for the tribe. He was wise and fair, and under his rule the tribe was more prosperous and happy than they had been under any other. Battles with enemy tribes were rare during those days. Conflicts over territory were usually dealt with quickly, leader to leader, and without bloodshed on either side. It was this period of peace in which Tsu and his sisters grew up. They spent their days running and chasing each other around the crop fields, tackling one another and play fighting as most pups their age did. When they weren't busy roughing each other up, they'd spend their time sharpening their developing tusks on large rocks and practicing their howls. For four years this life of splendor continued. The three pups, now being old enough, participated in the traditional Emblazoning Ceremony. All tribe members of four years of age were tattooed with the tribal symbol on their left hind leg. These markings were of vital importance to all tribes in Tyrannia. They were a way to tell immediately what tribe someone belonged to, and whether they were friend or enemy. The ceremony is usually a time of joy and celebration. It was a time for feasting and the gathering together of friends and family. But it was this very day when everything the tribe ever knew began to spiral out of control. It started when several tribe members were terribly burned while working around the large ceremonial bonfire. Unexpectedly, it blazed up in a strange red fury sending licks of fire out beyond the ring of stones surrounding the pit. Four lupe nearby were caught in the path. None of the injuries were fatal, however they would take months to fully heal and would leave lifelong scars. The day after the ceremony, two members of a rival tribe were seen roaming the borders of NiTah territory. They were of the Morock tribe, a group known for being extremely vicious. A patrol of three NiTah confronted the extremely scruffy invaders. They refused to go back to their own territory until they'd spoken with the NiTah leader. The patrol hesitated for a moment, and one went to get Opak. The other two remained to guard the intruders. Several minutes passed, and the remaining patrol grew more and more uneasy with every second. After what seemed like hours, Opak finally met them at the border. What business have you on NiTah land?" Opak asked sternly. One of the Morock grinned deviously, baring his sharp, yellowed teeth. Oh nothing much. We just wanted to let you know that your clan is about to fall apart." Said the other Morock. He glanced slyly at his stupidly grinning companion. Is that so. And why, praytell, is that?" Because, our leader has charged us the task of killing you. At all costs!" With that, the two Morock leapt foreward at Opak, pinning him to the ground in a life or death struggle. The three patrollers jumped on top of them, but by the time they managed to get them off Opak, it was too late. He'd been too fatally injured in the attack and surely wouldn't survive the night. Enraged, two of the patrollers snarled and rushed at the intruders with their hackles raised. The last patroller stayed by Opak and called out an emergency howl. Minutes later other members were rushing towards them to help. By the time the two patrollers had returned from their chase, although victorious, it was too late. Opak was dead. That night the tribe held a council meeting to decide on a successor to take lead. In an almost unanimous decision, Rik was chosen as the new tribe leader. He took up the position gratefully and promised the council that he'd do everything within his power to live up to Opak's reign. The mood around the tribal village grew more downtrodden with each passing day. Two months had passed since the tragedy and not a drop of rain had touched the barren, bone dry ground. The crops slowly began to dry out and yellow under the hot sun. In the passing days they would shrivel up and turn to dust. The tribe members grew sick, and took their misery out on Rik. It was his fault that the tribe was suffering, they all claimed. Even though each one of them knew that there was no way Rik could have possibly had caused the situation, it somehow made it more bearable if they could put the blame on someone. Try as he might, there was nothing Rik could do to make the situation any better. And he himself began to crumple under the burden put on him. Even the gleaming, hopeful lavender eyes of his children failed to bring his spirits back up. But their lives were nothing compared to what was to come. Tsu and his sisters were around the age of six when the clan was attacked. It had been a brilliant morning, despite the drought. The sun was shining brightly and the weather was warm. Not a cloud mottled the blue sky and everyone was enjoying the day. That is until the sky filled with dark shadows of huge winged beasts. They covered the sun and cast ominous shapes upon the ground. Luca noticed the shapes and looked up into the sky. Eyes widening in fear, she looked around for her children and found them playing nearby. She ran over towards them and hurried them all inside their small hut. Quickly children, get inside!" She called to them. What is it mother?" Tsu asked, sensing the fear in his mother's voice. Monsters Tsu, just please do as I say." Obediently the pups ran inside with their mother close behind them. The beasts made a quick decent to the ground just at the outskirts of the village. A strange man dressed in a black robe, a black hood pulled low over his face, sat atop the back of an enormous, winged fire lupe. A few dozen more vicious looking, winged lupe alighted to the ground behind him. They were all much larger than normal lupe should be, and each with massive leathery wings jutting out between their shoulders. At an order from the man in black, all the beasts behind him took off into the air again and began an aerial attack. Their wings gave them a terrible advantage over the villagers. They could easily swoop down, attack, and veer off before they got attacked themselves. One of them hovered right above the hut where Rik and his family lived. It tore off the roof and landed inside, eyeing the three young ones. It was the huge fire lupe, though the strange man was no longer riding atop his back. His eyes gleamed an unnatural gold and the fire pattern that appeared on his fur followed onto his enormous black wings. As he approached the three youngsters, Luca tried her best to fend him off. She snarled at him and bared her fangs as she jumped between the beast and her children. Being a female, she had no threatening tusks to ward off enemies with, but her fangs alone were a fearsome site. Valiant though she was, the monster felled her with a single swing of his massive paw. Tsu and his sisters huddled close together in a corner of the hut, too scared to mourn for their mother. As if sensing the danger to his family, Rik rushed through the door and leaped at the intruder. He latched onto the monster's shoulder but was no match. As he'd done just minutes before, the beast knocked Rik off with no effort. Rik slammed into the wall and was out cold. The strange lupe turned back to Tsu and his sisters, and bared his fangs. He looked about ready to take them out as well, when there was a call from outside the hut. Fathuro!" The voice boomed. Seconds after the man dressed in black stepped inside. Only the red glow of a pair of evil eyes could be seen from underneath his black hood. In his hand he wielded a black staff with a glowing red orb set into the claw shaped top. "Gather the young ones. They shall make fine new recruits." With that, Fathuro grinned as he watched the man walk back out. He turned his devilish grin towards us and let out a mighty howl. Three other winged lupe appeared above the hut and alighted inside next to him. They grabbed the children in their mighty paws and leapt into the air. Back to Top Chapter Two - Experiments He didn't remember much when it came to the actual trip, flying away from everything he knew at the paws of a strange lupe. He may have blacked out from the unusual altitude. He did remember however, approaching an enormous black stone castle tucked at the base of three large mountains. It was a very menacing looking castle, with four huge spires, one on each corner, and several other smaller spires around them. The largest of them all stood right in the middle of the building, directly behind the massive front gate. When they landed, the strange lupe all put all the pups in a group and then surrounded them. It was then that Tsu realized that he and his sisters weren't the only ones taken from the clan. He recognized several of his friends whom he used to play with all the time. Behind the group, Fathuro landed silently on the ground and the strange man climbed down from his back. He walked up to the gate and, at a spoken command, the huge metal reinforced wooden door lifted upwards and all the pups herded inside. The gateway opened up into a huge, very tall entranceway that split off into several other halls. It must have been the base of the largest spire. It was here that the strange lupe pack parted ways. The hooded man and Fathuro went down one hall, the majority of the other lupe down another. Only three of the lupe remained with captives, one of which Tsu recognized as the one who had grabbed his sister Shasi. They exchanged glances and sly grins with each other and began to herd the young lupe down a third hall. None of them tried to get away. They were much too afraid of the monsters to even consider it. They all knew, without needing to be told, that anyone who ran would be caught and killed. This single walk down the dark, cold hall would be the longest, most terrifying walk of Tsu's entire life. All down the stone hallway were solid steel doors with small barred openings at the top. Still being pups, none of them were tall enough to see what was behind any of the doors, but the sounds alone were enough to tell us that they'd more than likely find out soon. Sounds of terror and pain echoed around the hall, moans and cries that curdled the very blood that ran through his veins and sent shivers up his entire spine making the fur on his hackles stand on end. The sounds of which still haunt his dreams even now. Finally they were put into one of the cells at the end of the hall and the door slammed shut behind them, the ominous sound of a key turning the heavy door-bolts ringing in their ears. There were other young lupe already in there, and they looked just as scared as the NiTah pups did. Looks like Iyashii's at it again." Said one of the pups to a companion. He walked towards Tsu and introduced himself. "Name's Taipheus, but you can call me Tai. Might as well make your self comfortable, I have a feeling we'll all be here for a while." Tsu looked around the dark cell. What is this place?" He asked. We're not exactly sure. We know that the man in the black robe's name is Iyashii, and that he and his monsters attacked all of our villages. Between the bits of conversation we've all heard when we were brought here, he's a cruel and black hearted man. The guards mention some kind of a lab and 'failed attempts' a lot, but we aren't sure what they mean. Whatever it is, it can't be good." Tsu noticed there were eighteen pups in total in the cell. The captured pups found out their fate soon enough. The next day the three lupe who'd escorted them the night before returned to the cell. They were herded down the hall, past the doors hiding the sounds of misery, through the main hall and down another hall at the opposite end. This hall was much shorter than the first, and at the end they came to a large room. Once inside, the pups could see that it was full of strange looking equipment and machines with tiny colored lights and large data screens. The whole room was dimly lit by a few red lights along the walls. On one side of the room were two large, metal bar doors. Both led to identical holding cells large enough for more than ten full-grown lupe. On the opposite side of the room were two enormous cylindrical tanks filed with bright, bubbling green liquid that gave off an eerie glow. The tanks sat on top of another single, strange looking machine covered with lights and dials. Each tank was capped off with large, round metal lids that hat tubes filled with the same bright green liquid leading down into the tanks from the ceiling. In the center of the room, there was a single, very large metal table that was angled partially upright. It had six thick leather straps bolted onto the top. Two at the bottom, one near the center of each side, one centered near the top, and the largest bolted dead center of the table. The guards herded all the pups into one of the large cells, but before closing the door they pulled one pup closest to the front back out. As one guard carried the pup away from the cell, another shut and bolted the giant door. All the remaining pups could do was to watch in fright at what happened next. The guard strapped the pup to the table, making sure all the leather straps were pulled tight enough so that he couldn't move, let alone wriggle free. Afterwards the vile man named Iyashii walked into the room with Fathuro close behind him. The two seemed to be discussing plans for some new raid on yet another unsuspecting and defenseless village. Without ceasing his conversation, Iyashii walked over to a small, wheeled tray standing near the green-glowing tanks. He pulled it close over to the table where the pup lay prisoner, close enough for the others in the cell to see what was kept on top. Eighteen large syringes, all lined up and filled with the strange green liquid. The same liquid as was in the tank most likely. Without even so much as a word to the pup, Iyashii picked up one of the needles and injected the serum into the pups thigh, where the muscle was thickest. As soon as Iyashii had finished his deed, the guard undid the straps, picked the young lupe up off the table, and shoved him into the empty cell, locking the door behind him. As he worked, a second guard pulled another pup from the first cell, and the process began again. Each of the eighteen pups were injected with the vile stuff, and it burned the moment it entered their veins until it had thouroughly spread throughout their bodies. When all had been treated to the procedure, they were herded back down the hallways and into the cell they'd been shoved into the day before. The very next day, everything started over. At the time the young lupe didn't know what the injections were. It would take over a week to fully take effect. But once it had, they then realized why they'd heard so much anguish in the hall when they arrived. It was the sound of wings ripping through muscle and flesh. The sound of bones becoming thicker and stronger. The sound of muscles ripping and repairing themselves at an alarming rate to become larger. This was the sound of lupe pups becoming Maudire. By the time their wings had fully developed, only 14 of the pups remained in the cell. Four hadn't been able to deal with the excruciating pain of the transformation, and eventually succumbed to their ultimate demise. It was then that they started to notice another change taking place that seemed to only affect some of the pups. The colored iris of their eyes were slowly becoming dull colored and clouded. They couldn't see the change occurring in their own eyes, for there were no mirrors in the cell, and the change only affected the color or the iris, not their actual eyesight. All they had to go by was the observations of the others, and so they had no choice but to trust each other. Once the cloudiness had cleared away, not a speck of the original color remained. Instead, all the pups' eyes had become the same brilliant gold as the fully-grown Maudire. However...there were five pups who were only partially effected by the change. One eye, instead of two, became gold. The other remained the same. Tsu and Tai were among those five. The five one-eyes, as they were called by the others, would eventually become closer to each other than any blood related family they could ever hope to find again. Back to Top Chapter Three - Soldiers To Be Continued! The Rebel Alliance These five Maudire lupe are the ones who formed the Maudire Rebellion to overthrow Iyashii. They are the only five lupe who only have 1 golden eye, instead of the normal 2. Click on the portrait images to go to their individual pages for more information.

If you prove yourself, and a spot is open, then you may be rewarded. Ready to join? Click here Frequently Asked Questions The story is based off of my design for my Lupe Tsuyo_sa. I was sketching out his design and in the process decided I wanted a reason behind the way he looked. So I came up with a rough plot for my Maudire story, and pulled 4 of my other Lupe into it as well. 2. Can my lupe be part of the Maudire clan? Sure! If you're interested in having your lupe added to the Maudire ranks, simply send me a Neomail With all of your pet's information, including their name, nickname if they have one, their color (Can be a color you plan on painting them in the future, they don't have to be that color at the time of entering into the ranks), a brief bio, and a reference pic. Please do not send official neopets art as your reference pic...I want a picture of your pet that shows their originality. Either a pic you drew yourself, or one someone else made for you with proper credit given to the artist. No CAPs please... 3. Can my lupe join the Maudire Rebel Alliance? Sorry, but no. The Rebel Alliance consists only of the 5 lupe listed, no more, no less. The alliance follows the story and I'm certainly not going to go in and alter the story everytime someone wants to join in the Alliance. You're welcome to join the Maudire ranks in general, but the Alliance is closed. 4. How do you pronounce the Rebels' names? Tsuyo_sa: soo-yoh-sah Killimenjaro: kill-ee-men-jar-oh Taipheus: tie-fay-us Midnights_Risk: Honestly...do you really have to ask? Fine... mid-nights-risk Shonai_Yamia: show-nigh-yah-me-uh 5. Why do the chapter links say "*New*" somtimes? *New* denotes either a new chapter entirely, or just a new part added onto a chapter. If you see this up by a chapter link, it's probably a good idea to skim through that chapter to see if there's anything new added that progresses the story. 6. Can I use your artwork? Heavens no...My artwork belongs to me, and will only be used by me. Using it without my permission is theft and anyone caught doing so WILL be reported and most likely frozen. So save yourself the trouble and draw your own art. 7. Can you draw something for me? That all depends on whether or not I have the free time to do so. I'm a very busy college student going for a Fine Arts degree. This means that the majority of my time is spent in some studio or other, and I haven't much time to do my own neo-art, much less customs for others. You can check my lookup to see whether or not customs are currently being accepted or not: Check Status 8. Can I roleplay your pets/include them in a roleplay? Same with the art, absolutely not. My pets are just that, my pets. The only person who will ever roleplay them is me. Same goes for including them in a roleplay. No. You want to roleplay that's great. But use your own pets to do so. 9. Can I post your story on my site? Starting to notice a pattern here? No. If you'd like to share the story of the Maudire that's great! You're more than welcome to link back to use using the buttons found below. HOWEVER. Like everything else on this page, the story belongs to me and may not be reproduced without my permission. Links
