By a sad twist of fate, the loop-hole hissi's, Devviiy, work was halted. Now the duty to continue to inform of the loop-holes and problems of our beloved Neopia rests with me, the oh-so-shiny Dreviermon.
-Destler Speaking -
Around September of 2006 the account mixgar was 'lost'. I had changed the pw for fear that someone may have infiltrated my account (which now I see was not true...because I'm an idiot). PW retrieval was being mean and even after contacted TNT numerous times I failed to get my account back. So the pets Devviiy, Grieveh, Haitsu, and Monny508 'died'. I've 'reincarnated' Grieveh and Monny508 into Noctivaygus and Devviy into Dreviermon. Haitsu was just remade with an extra letter (Haitsu turned into Haitszu).
Now Drevvy spreads the loop holing love around that you know you love, too ♥
- Back to Drevvy -
- Wide grin -
First, a brief history on loop-holing, then I shall go into detail about individual problems in Neopia, both old and new, followed by fun quotes from real Neopians.
So....
w h a t // i s // l o o p - h o l i n g ?||
Let's start with something simple. Like what a loop-hole is.
Loop-hole - A way of escaping a difficulty, especially an omission or ambiguity in the wording of a contract or law that provides a means of evading compliance.
Simply stated, it is a way to find an 'alternate path' or outsome to a situation. The situation is usually one concerning a written document of some sort. For my purposes, I use the term very generally and a bit loosely.
What I have done is go around Neopia in search of problems and attempt to find a 'loop-hole' (though my loop-holing is also very close to simple logic as well) ;3
p r o b l e m s ||
Here are the problems I have found among Neopians. The list grows whenever something is found to be amiss in Neopian society. I look around to see how the problems are doing as shown in the part that is titled 'Pets Suffering From Problem'.
p r o b l e m # 1 : E A R S
This is the silliest problem of them all. It seems to have gotten better over time, but just the thought of it makes me laugh. The problem itself is that others aren't/weren't letting others have a shot at having ears! What a bizzare thing...having no ears. Unless of course your pet doesn't have any ears and probably hears through some sort of telekinetic powers of some sort (or something like that). This problem seems to pertain to reptilian Neopets mostly. From what my predecessor has discovered, in the human world reptiles have ears! - gasp - What is this nonsense I speak of? Reptiles with ears? PERPOSTOROUS!
Actually, reptiles have slits on the sides of their head which happen to be their ears (or at least most reptiles I've heard of/seen). Besides, how are they supposed to hear if they have no ears!
Another part of this mess is the type of ears on pets. Now, I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure there are BILLIONS of people out in the human world who don't know the majority of the world. Considering this, let's think for a moment: If I were to draw say, ears with puff-balls on the tips, there is no sure way someone else in the world, whether they are a Neopian citizen or not, has also come up with the same idea.
Human World Example(s)
- Pokemon: Dragonair has wing-like ears, Wartortle has feathry ears, and many Pokemon such as Wigglytuff and Nidorino have that 'flippy-ear' thing going on (the 'flippy-ear' thing I refer to is more-or-less both a style of drawing ears and well as a specific type. They are the ears that are large (what people usually put on their eared krawk/draik/etc) that have part of the ear covered by the over-lapping top part of the ear. Just look at any krawk that has ears and 90% of the time they have a similar format (styles do vary though)).
Pets Suffering from this Problem
Has gotten better. It's now a war of design and less of the actual ear in general.
Quotes
People MUST stop being so paranoid! No one can copyright ears... O__O" - latios90
p ro b l e m # 2 : M U L T I P L E // L I M B S
Another extremely silly thing. Same sort of idea as the ears except with limbs (AKA - arms, legs, tails, etc).
Human World Example(s):
- Video game and fantasy creatures: From certain Heartless in Kingdom Hearts to Basilisks in a variety of games, there are multiple-limbed creatures.
- Genetic Mutation: Mutations cause multiple limbs to appear in some animals (like a 3-footed chicken!)
Pets Suffering from this Problem
Not really that many. Not that big a problem.

Everyone wants there pet to be unique for the most part. Awesome. Destler wants the same thing for me and the billion other pets, petpets, and imaginary monkeys and geckos she owns. Some people even base their pet's look/design off of a book, TV show, movie, and so on. Pefect examples of media based pets are Vendehtta and Erikacroamalaruaae (both owned by Destler). Then comes the fun part: MAKING THE DESIGN ITSELF.
Basing off of Real Life
It seems people have decided that once they find out they're the first to base their pet off of something in their human world that no one else is allowed to base their pets off of that thing. Let me break this down into two main categories:
1. Animals/Living Organisms: If you think you're the only one who's going to have the only Red-Tailed Hawk Pteri then it's gotta' stink when you see someone else has the same type of pet. Note, specific designs vary. It may be the same basic creature it is being based off of, but the specific details of the designs always seem to differ. Then again, designs based off of animals and plants are very similar as well since in most species of animals there isn't much variation among coloration (Example - Clownfish (let's stay with that orange and white species) look the same overall. There is usually no way of telling one apart from the other except by size, torn fins, or other little odds and ends, but the coloration is always the same for the most part.)
2. Media: This is a funny thing to look at. If you make a Phantom of the Opera based lupe, chances are you won't be able to claim having the only one and that no one else is able to have another Phantom lupe. There's well over five different Phantom of the Opera based lupes in Neopia. Same goes for pets based off of popular shows, games, books, etc. Again, specific designs do vary, but don't flip out if you see an Edward Elric based Aisha with the same clothes as your Edward Elric based Peophin.
Patterns/Colors
This is the biggest topic of debate and loop-hole goodness. Now-a-days, trying to come up with something original is the new trend. But one day, when there's no more designs to choose from what will people do for originality?
There are over 200 MILLION Neopets in Neopia. Chances are, you will come up with a design for your Zafara that look REALLY similar to that of another Zafara or other pet. And even more likely is that you have never heard of or seen this other pet on the site before. So don't go screaming you head off at that person who 'stole' your design because most likely the aren't exactly alike. I have seen a Uni with the same base color (pink) as another with similar green/dark pink markings as the other Uni, but the markings differed oh-so much. Even better, one of these people thought the other stole their design. The other person had never even heard of the other till the raving one started accussing her of stealing.
Jobs
This doesn't appear very often, but some people have the idea that their pet is the only one that can have a certain 'job'. If it's something you made up and has been explained to the tiniest little detail then go ahead and ban whoever you like from having that job (most likely though this won't happen). If your pet has a job similar or based off of something in the human world, a video game, a book, etc. then don't bother to argue against people who's pets have the same occupation as yours.
Human World Examples:
- Made-up Fan Creatures: Destler has come across this problem along with many other Pokemon aritist with made-up Pokemon or 'Fakemon'. Ideas become similar and people end up creating starter pokemon that look like Plesiosaurs without knowing someone has also done that.
- Coincidences in General: Coincidences happen everyday. There's no avoiding them.
- Chimeras: Chimeras are creatures that are many creatures fused together. Pets are also fused together with other pets and human world creatures and stuff to create 'unique designs'. Look around at games, books, and artists not on Neopets who draw creatures. They may also have had the same idea to fuse that Emperor Scorpion, Coyote and Hyena together! (Or not...maybe a Belted-Kingfisher and Artic Fox instead?)
Pets Suffering from this Problem
Almost the entire population of customized pets. The tipping point is closely approaching!

Stealing Songs
Here's the bottom line: Nothing is safe on the internet. If you have a song you found on some search engine and just copied the link and put it up on your pet's page or userlookup (or whatever) don't expect that other people won't search for the same thing on the same search engine and put it up. Unless you're the owner of the song don't put up the "Please don't steal the music" things when you've already stolen it. Oh, see? I just turned the tables on ya'. That's hardcore loop-holing right there B)
Stealing Songs
Wait! You just put the same topic twice!
No. This is different. This topic is about stealing directly from the people who put up the "Don't Steal the Music" note on their pages.
If someone is hosting the music using a file hosting site don't take it. To check this, just look at the bottom of the screen when a webpage is loading (the little off-white line that has no purpose) and watch to see if, while the music is loading, it says something like 'BobsMusicOnlyDontSteal' and has other text that indicates the user uploaded the music themself. You can also check the page source using the 'Find' function. Search for 'bgsound' and check to see if the music url indicates it has been uploaded by the Neopian.
When you steal music anyway, you're stealing bandwidth which can cause the song to not work after a specific amount of time being listened to. So the music won't work for you or the person who rightfully uploaded it.
There are always sites to upload music quickly and simply. Just take a few moments to use them to host your music. Of course, some people don't have the luxury (or intelligence) to do this and just use links they find off of search engines anyway. Again, NOTHING IS SAFE ON THE INTERNET!
Another part of this sort of stealing is if the person actually made the music specifically for their pet's page or what-not. Then that's REALLY, REALLY, REALLY bad! xP
Pets Suffering from this Problem:
Almost anyone who has music on their page (both victims and villians).
Quotes
I see tons of people with the same thing on their petpage. It is very annoying especially with music. They in no right own the music(Unless they are hosting and bla bla bla but still you could just do the same with the same song.) SO yes just thought I would compliment you. '^.^ and share my idea of the whole thing." - _ghost_wolf

This is just so special to get it's own category without any subcategories. Coming up with an original name seems to be another "in" thing. Alright, let's use a real life situation: Please count how many other people you know/know of (including TV/book/movie/etc characters) that have the same name as you. Why does Neopets have to be so different then? In reality there's almost no way that you won't find someone (or something!) that has the same name as you. It gets a bit annoying seeing people spaz over someone having a similar or the same name as their pet (or username).
I do see that people come up with absolutely crazy usernames and pet names, so some cases are an exception to my ranting. But just take the word part (no numbers or underscores) of the name and type it in on a search engine and see what comes up. Most often than not you'll find a webpage (in another language sometimes!) that has that name somewhere in it and has nothing to do with Neopets at all.
Notes! In case you didn't understand what I just said :3
1. If your username/pet has a name that is like a regular word and someone else uses it too don't freak out on them. It's a word. It's not like the rest of the world doesn't know about that word too and hasn't named their real life pet the same thing. *Rolls eyes*
2. If you think your pet/username is uber unique you better check to make sure. I've seen some people create name that surely do sounds and seem unique, but then I've seen something in real life with a similar pronunciation and spelling (and the real life thing is sometimes copyrighted).

I'm so sorry to tell you all this but THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS POSE THEFT (and I quote a stamp from an art site that shall go unamed even though we all know what it's called).
Because...it's a pose. Anyone can strike a pose in the human world without getting yelled at for 'copying the pose' so why must it be so different when it comes to drawing poses?
Becaaaauuuussseee.....then I guess...when you see a wolf jumping over a fence in real life and it looks exactly like what you drew of your lupe then that means you should be yelling at the wolf for 'stealing' your pose.... xD Oh good grief, this is such a silly thing I'm having trouble finding words to loop-hole this problem.
Of course, tracing and blatantly stealing a pose (like literally going over the lines then just coloring it in haphazardly or however later) is a no-no. And this is where the confusion is. Suprisingly, it is easy to tell if someone has done this or not. More often than not, the person would probably have found whatever image they 'stole the pose from' on a search engine or book or somewhere else, looked at it, and tried to imitate the pose without tracing. Yes, it is taking the pose. But how art people who can't draw as well supposed to improve?
Most likely everyone has used tracing paper once in their life. If you say you haven't then...just don't jump in on this conversation. Anyway, when most of the artists nowadays on Neo were younger (this is focusing on the teenage and up group) they probably used tracing paper to help them learn to draw. And what did they do with this tracing paper? Well, they traced and 'stole poses' that's what. And now, they are all drawing their own poses (at least I think they are).
But who doesn't use images on search engines or books to figure out how to draw that one specific pose? And what are they doing when they do use that pose for their picture but 'stealing the pose' from whoever may have photographed that (maybe/possibly) copyrighted image or what-not.
*coughDreviermonKnowsNothingOfCopyrightReallycough*
But you get my point...or should get my point.
And you SHOULD remember that there are billions of people out there who don't know you exist yet end up drawing a lupe in the same pose as yours.
And using references is the only way to improve xP
Geez that was an annoyingly difficult one to loop-hole....it doesn't even read like it makes sense....*Falls over*
s o l u t i o n s||
A few simple solutions to these problems can be implemented to make Neopian life so much better, fun, and peaceful for all! Well...maybe not peaceful, but still! xD
1. Remember how many people use this site. You don't know most people on this site and most don't know you. Coincidences will happen more often than not when it comes to your taste in music for pages or designs for pets.
2. Host your own music if possible. This prevents people from ranting on and on and on and on....
3. The human world has a big influence on designs. No copyright on red-tail hawk Pteris for you! - Ahem - Yeah, self explanitory.
4. There are creatures called chimeras in human world mythology. Fusing animals with Neoepts doesn't necessarily mean other people won't use the same creatures and fuse them to the same species of Neopet. Designs will mostly likely differ though!
5. That name isn't something you made up yourself. Well, maybe it was, but that doesn't mean you were the only one to do so. Take my friend Cielmer, the Tuatara Techo, for example. Enter her name on a search engine and find that it wasn't an original name Destler came up with for her (if you must know, Cielmer is the words cielo (which means sky) and mer (which means ocean/sea) put together).
6. Only start freaking out if someone stole everything as it is. Sometimes coincidence isn't going to be a legit excuse if it's blatantly obvious you stole something. Attempt to come up with something on your own. Look around your community or wherever you are and doodle something. You don't have to be awesome at drawing. Or you can write down a description. Just make an effort to be creative yourself.

I loooooooove music. It's awesome. Though it can be a bit annoying if you listen to something too many times...yeah....
Anyway, I'm always looking for music I like. A lot of these songs are from games Destler has played or movies she's seen or things she's stumbled upon while looking for other songs. But some of my favorite songs are ones that I can identify off of petpages without them saying who it is.
- Evil grin -
So, I've compiled a list of songs I've found on pages that say "Don't Steal the Music" and have either decided not to say what the song is or have used a link that is not their own. I find the music myself if possible, upload it myself and play it here. I alternate these songs on ocassion as well. But also, I find songs that I just like anyway and put them here. I won't tell which ones are from pages though (you can figure it out on your own!) ;P
So here's a list of songs that I personally love:
- Walking in the Air - from the film, The Snowman, sung by Aled Jones
- Hijo de la Luna - Version sung by Loona
- Must Be Dreaming - Frou Frou
- Flicks - Frou Frou
- Let Go - Frou Frou
- Kiss From a Rose - Seal
- Wind - Akeboshi
- Sora - From the show Escaflowne
- Distance (M-Flo Remix) - Utada Hikaru
- Dragostea Din Tei (& Various Versions of this song) - O-ZONE & Other People who help with remixed versions
- Sandstorm - Darude
- The C.N. Tower Belongs to the Dead - Final Fantasy (Owen Pallet)

- markings - Multicolored markings on left side of face, right leg, along back and down to tail tip; star-shapes on blue part of underbelly; four orbs float behind head
- personality - The loop-holing part of her personality stays on this page at all times. The only personality she shows is her one as the Happy Mask Shoyru; she is mischevious and loves to collect masks. She also loves to use masks to cause uneeded trouble. Normally, she's cheerful and doesn't upset easily. Then there's the dark side to this personality....
- powers? - Right wing can become icy and have a cloud of mist/ice around it while the left wing does the same, but with fire. This only occurs on this page when she is the loop-hole shoyru. Her happy Mask Shoyru powers are limited to the powers contained in the masks she collects.

Noctivyagus is and always will be my sworn enemy. He insists I bring bad luck and ill omen or whatever nonsense he rambles on about to his valley. I have no idea what he means though. It's not me and it couldn't be my precious masks....

Maybe it's because I bug him about giving me his mask that he doesn't enjoy my company. Oh V...someday you'll give me that mask. I just know it!

There's not much to say about me.
I've been turned into I don't know how many different forms, each a bit stranger than the last.
First, I was pretty simple. Pale blue with a cream underbelly and wings with nothing but a few masks I wore.
Second, I was cursed to live forever after a battle with a general. I stayed pretty much the same color...maybe a bit purpler...and strange markings appeared on the side of my face, but that really it....oh yeah...these really cool green loops just kind of popped out of nowhere onto my tail. Those were spiffy. I miss those neon green rings.
Then I was turned into a vampire....I think. Still not sure. But I was all like 'rawr ima gonna bite ur neck' lookin' but then I realized I had no wings ;-; That made me sad.
Now I'm this. A semi-reincarnation of the Loop-Hole Hissi, Devviiy.
How...dreadfully boring @_@;

- Destler speaking now -
I have a few simple rules for roleplay with Drevvy:
1. Must be literate. If you speak a different language and your english is broken is a different story though. I'll gladly roleplay with you if your english isn't very good. I find it not to be fair otherwise (but please do try to make it understandable. I get confused VERY easily).
2. I'll roleplay in any setting.
3. Drevvy stays quad no matter what. She's jsut not meant to be anthro x3 But I do roleplay quad pets with anthro pets.
4. Drevvy is friendly, a little psychotic, but friendly to all species of Neopets so mixed species roleplay is a yes.
5. No. She will not be your pet's friend/mate/enemy/etc. straight away. Long term roleplay is a must. And actually, she won't be any pets mate. She's single and quite proud ^^
6. No powerplaying and all that jazz. You know the deal. I don't do it, you don't do it, no one sensible does it. Got it, good, done.
