Your pet's health can be affected in three ways: hunger, health (hit) points and diseases. All are displayed on your Quick Reference page which you can get to by clicking on your active pet's name on the yellow side bar. Hit points and diseases also appear on your pet's lookup page. Hunger - If you don't feed your pet, it will eventually reach the status of "dying". This can be remedied by feeding it. The hunger levels are: very bloated, bloated (the ideal level of hunger in Neopia), very full, full up, satiated, fine, not hungry, hungry, very hungry, famished, starving, dying. (Note that pets never actually die. Their hunger status will simply remain at dying until you feed them again.) Health points (called hit points everywhere else) - Health points are indicated by two numbers with a slash between, for example, 10/12. The first number is your pet's current hit points, the 2nd is your pet's maximum hit points It's possible for the first number to be higher than the second. This happens when the healing faerie gives your pet more points than it needs. Ironically, if your hit point status is say 25/15 and a faerie restores all your pet hit points it will go back to 15/15. Your pet can lose hit points several ways, including at the Wheel of Excitement and Wheel of Mediocrity, a random event, and in the battledome. When your pet has 0 hit points, it will appear in sick mode on its pet lookup page. To regain lost hit points: 1. Go to the Healing Springs in Faerieland. You can go to the Healing Springs every 30 minutes. The healing faerie will do one of several things, including restore all your pets' hit points, restore some of all your pets' hit points, completely heal all your pets or just the active pet, or give you a healing potion or elixir. (Elixirs only work when equipped to your pet in the Battledome.) 2. Feed your pet. Each feeding will restore 1 hp. 3. Give your pet healing potions. Healing potions are sometimes given by the healing faerie, can be purchased from the healing faerie (not advised, her prices are too high), or purchased from pet owners' shops. 4. Give your pet a healthshroom. Keep in mind that shrooms are food, so you can't feed them to your pet when they are very bloated.
Diseases - Your pet can get a disease from the wheels of excitement, mediocrity and misfortune, from eating bad food (rotten omelette or anything poisonous), or from a random event. Also, some pets have allergies to certain foods and some battledome weapons can cause diseases. See Florence_Nightingale's page for more information. Your pet lookup page or your quick reference page will tell you what disease your pet has and its picture will show it in sick mode. The first thing you should do when your pet gets a disease is go to the Healing Springs in Faerieland. You can go every 30 minutes and make sure that your sick pet is the active pet. It may take several trips before the healing faerie cures your pet, but it will eventually happen. If you get impatient with the healing faerie you can get your pet medicine. Each disease is cured by a specific medicine. For a complete list of diseases and their cures, go to Florence_Nightingale's page. Medicines can be purchased from the Neopian Pharmacy (on the main shops page) or pet owners' shops. Also, if you are a member of the ~Guild of Booklovers~ and meet the requirements described on Florence_Nightingale's page, you may request free medicine from the shop. If you're not a member, perhaps your own guild will provide medicine for your pet. If you have any questions about your pet's health that are not answered here, contact the Booklovers Armory and put 'Pharmcy question' in the subject of your neomail.
