Hello Stranger!" The lupe was female, she was a young adult. She smiled.
W-who are you?" You looked at the lupe, she had a green pawprint printed on her eye and had beautiful blue eyes.
I'm Zaleyla!"
I-I'm guest," you stutter standing up. Then a dingo suddenly walks out of the den, he looked like he had some wolf in him.
Excuse my daughter," he said in a low voice. "I'm Devnay."
You're a dingo," you confusedly say. "You should live in the desert."
Half Dingo," Devnay laughed. "I didn't live here for my whole life, in fact most of it I did live in the desert."
You look around puzzled. He laughed again.
Why don't I tell you about myself?

The wolf laid down next to her, he laid his head on her shoulder. His heart was broken. He forgot about the screaming pup, and fell into a deep sleep.
The next day the wolf, or so called the father, began to travel once again. He held the pup by its scruff in his mouth. It was hungry, but so was he. Then he remembered, the pup was never named. His wife suggested a name, but he had always laughed at that name.
Devnay, he remembered the name in his mind. It then made sense to him. He looked down at the pup, and knew it was the right name for him.
It only took until nightfall, until finally, he had found an oasis. But why couldn't Auri live until then? She would of been able to heal. The father dropped Devnay carefully into a small cave nearby the oasis. He looked under one of the palm trees, under one was a small peach tree. He ran over then picked a peach of the tree, hopefully this would be able to help the pup. He peeled it carefully with his paws and smash it into mush with a rock. The father let Devnay slurp it up. He got some more for Devnay, then some for himself. The father drank some water, then picked up Devnay and slept in the den during the cool night.
After a around 12 months, the father had told Devnay many stories as he grew up. The father grew older, and Devnay had become a grown pup, almost a young adult.
Dad, dad, dad!" Devnay shook his father awake. "Please tell me another story!"
His father yawned and stretched. He laid on his back. "Isn't it a little too early?"
Please!"
Alright, alright," he stood up and walked out into the sunlight by the oasis. "How about the sacred animal today?
Devnay raised his eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
I guess I haven't told you this one," his father said. "A Vulture, they are angels from the heavens above. That's why they feed on us."
Isn't that kind of...rude to us?"
No son," his father smiled. "When they feed on animals, they are letting there spirit able to be freed from their body and go back to the heavens. They help us." Devnay's eyes grew bigger.
I never thought of it that way," he replied quietly. "Dad, I have a question."
Yes Devnay?"
When will, well," Devnay said nervously.I be able to go on adventure?"
The father laughed. "Devnay, I'm growing old," he said slowly. "You will know when your quest starts."
But what would it be?"
You don't belong on this oasis," the father said. "That is your quest." Devnay didn't bother to argue, and his hopes had been crushed. He walked over to the oasis, laid down in the sun, and slept. That's what he did for the rest of the day.
Chapter 2
It was a couple months before the fateful day. Devnay woke up from a night outside of the cave. He streched, and squinted. The sun was bearing down on him. Devnay walked near the cave, there was a vulture on a rock. His heart suddenly dropped and his throat felt like a rock was stuck in it. Quickly he ran toward the vulture, not caring that they were sacred, and jumped onto the rock trying to catch it. "Stay away!" He screeched. The vulture flew away, and Devnay walked into the cave slowly and silently.
It was true. His worst nightmares crept during the night. He walked around the crowd of vultures, and in the middle, was his father. He had passed away during the night. Devnay's eyes unfocused and tears blurred his sight. His head swirled and he quickly ran out of the cave. He ran passed the pond and onto a rock a few yards from the cave, then he howled a beautiful howl. He could of sworn he saw his mother and father looking down at him in the sky, he began to whimper. Devnay jumped off the rock, thinking he would be able to catch them and be with them. He wanted to drown himself, he wanted to die too to be with them both. His whole world was turned upside down. He breathed heavily over and over. But then he realized something, it was time.
It took a lot of strength and courage to move away from his father's oasis. But he did. He continued walking and walking, he didn't know where he was going. He slept during the days, and walked during the cold nights. He grew hungry after some time, and thirsty. He lived on stray lizards, and cactus juice. Which was sour and terrible to him.
One day, voices woke Devnay up. He slowly opened his eyes, they closed again, then opened. He looked forward and a green lupe was playing with a stick. She couldn't be from around here. Devnay needed water, she had to have some somewhere. He tried to speak, but he made a small noise. He tried to get up, but he was too weak.
The lupe turned around, she was beautiful. Devnay couldn't describe how beautiful she was, and her eyes looked like an angels. Her eyes grew wide and she ran over to him. "Are you alright?" Her voice was panicked.
W-water," he managed to whisper.
The lupe left for a while. It felt like forever, but she came back. With, water? And food. But where did she get it? Devnay ate and drank it greedily. The lupe just watched.
I'm Dawned Dusk," she said softly. "Or Dawn."
Devnay looked up. "I'm Devnay, you aren't from around here, are you?"
Of course not," Dawn laughed. "I'm from my owners Mansion, far away from here."
Oh," Devnay began to drink more water.
You can come with us!" Her eyes brightened.
Devnay wanted to accept the offer, he almost did. But he remembered what his father said. "I-I," he tried to force the words out.I can't." Dawn lowered her head.
That must be my owner calling me," she sighed. She looked into his eyes again, she stared. "I- well, bye." He could tell she didn't want to say bye. But the beautiful lupe left.
Chapter 3
The next few days Devnay's heart ached, but why? He didn't want to think it was because he was missing Dawn. He had a quest to do, and he couldn't let someone distract it. Devnay continued to walk, and walk. He searched everywhere for an oasis or somewhere to rest. The farther he traveled, the less lizards and cacti there were. His stomach growled angrily, and his tongue was dry.
It was only a few days, before he needed to get up. Not wanted, but needed. Devnay's eyes unfocused and he tried to continue. He got a headache, but he kept walking. He squinted his eyes, an oasis! He tried to run toward it, he kept falling but didn't stop. He seemed to get farther away, until it disappeared. It was a mirage. It's time to give up Devnay thought to himself. Then the world blacked out, and fell onto the hot sand below him. The only thing he saw before he fell, was a vulture.
He's dead!" A female voice yelled. It was familiar.
The poor thing," another voice whispered while touching Devnay's face. Devnay heard crying. He had to open his eyes. He tried to signal that he was barely alive, so he breathed heavily.
Treeva, his chest moved, he's breathing!"
Get water Dawn, hurry!" Devnay heard Dawn's name, his heart leaped in joy. Soon a water bowl was pushed in front of him. Treeva, Dawn's owner, picked it up and forced water down Devnay's dry throat. "Swallow!" Devnay tried to swallow, but his throat wouldn't let him. Finally, he swallowed.
Eat this," Dawn threw deer meat in front of him. Devnay opened his eyes at her voice. He grabbed it and ate it. "Second time I saved you Dev."
Devnay's eyes sparkled with thanks.
Devnay," Dawn sighed. "Come back with us this time, you can stay in the nearby woods if you don't want to stay in the mansion."
I can't," Devnay coughed. "My father told me, that I need to search for another home, away from his oasis." Suddenly it made sense. His father wanted him to go with Dawn.
You're going to die out here," Dawn's eyes watered a bit.
I-I," Devnay stuttered. "He wants me to go with you, I can feel it."
Well then come on!"
