Introduction

the dark is a thing to fear, child

I'm sure you've all experienced the feeling of fear.
Whether it's heights or snakes that set it off, it's the sensation most people hate to go through.

Since most of you know it all too well,

It means you're all too familiar with me.

One of the most common phobias is that of the dark. Once the sun sets and the lights go off, the world takes on a much different light. Nothing seems as harmless as it was before when all was illuminated, but rarely is anyone scared of a room just because it's dark.

What their mind tells them is lurking in that pitch black space is what they are most frightened of.

And their minds are always right.

I am a force to be feared.

And I am always watching.

The Entity

and i'm exactly the reason

I am the monster that children fear is under their beds.

I am the creak of the stairs.

I am the shadow that tricks you.

I am the eyes that stare at you in the dark.

I am the voice that whispers your name when no one else is around.

I am the crash when nothing has fallen.

I am every reason that you fear.

And I am always watching.

Name; Basael

Nickname(s);Sael

Neopet Species; Draik

Neopet Color; Darigan

Powers; Shape-shifting, shadow control, instilling emotions of fear, anxiety, and dread in all mortal creatures, telepathic communication

Species; Shadow Demon

Age; Ageless

Size; When fully manifested, he's a huge, seemingly thick furred reptile creature. He stands approximately six feet at the shoulder on all fours and almost double that size when on his hind legs. However, it takes a lot of energy to show his full size so he usually chooses to appear as form comparable to that of a large dog's frame.

Weight; Sael is actually weightless, being made of nothing but a conjuration of thick shadows.

Eyes; The four large white "eyes" on his head are actually useless and just there for display, along with the teeth. Sael chooses to manifest himself with the glowing accents for the sake of making himself appear more frightening.

Personality; Though Sael isn't capable of speech that is audible to the human ear, he is able to communicate through the minds of most people. Those who have been said to talk with him would describe the demon's deep and guttural voice, cryptic language and matching attitude as quite violent and have claimed to feel extremely uncomfortable and intimidated in his presence. He's often very vulgar and has a tendency to make rude comments. Also, the creature is quite a fan of antagonizing the beings of the mortal world.

Other; Sael tries to conserve the energy he has by usually manifesting as a dark mist or orb but more times than others, he chooses to not even show himself at all. When people complain of being alone in a room and they have the sudden feeling that someone or something is watching them, Sael is usually responsible. Just don't pay attention to him. Or he may start paying attention to you.

About Shadow Beings

are you really alone?

Shadow people are a commonly occurring supernatural phenomenon. Also called shadow men, shadow folk, or shadow beings, these dark energies are very scary to those experiencing them. Mostly, these beings are able to be detected in your peripheral vision. They are often reported as moving with quick and jerky movements and usually disintegrate into walls and mirrors.

Even though some believe shadow people are "guardian angels," they are said to be evil and aggressive in nature and bring a sense of dread into the room. Witnesses also do not report the same feelings of being in the presence of something that 'was once human'. People are unsure exactly what these dark apparitions are, but are believed to not have been anything on this world. They feed off feelings of fear and the easiest reported way to repel them is to think positively.

Most cases of shadow people describe them as black silhouettes with no discernible facial features, though some have been said to have glowing red eyes. Usually lacking mass, they can be found in a 2-dimensional form or a vaporous or distorted three-dimensional fog.

They're the most common form of paranormal activity reported in 2010 in the US so don't be surprised if you start to notice...shapes moving in the corner of your eye when you aren't looking.

Study Him

it may be the only thing that can help you

Why do you do it? You don't know why, but you do. You make sure the windows are locked, you check the other side of the door, and your closet. You even check under your bed. Why do you do this? Does ripping open the shower curtain and seeing nothing there make you feel safe? Does scoping the area with your eyes after reading a scary story reassure you?

Well, it shouldn't.

Because by the time you've looked, I've already hidden.

A demon of my variety enjoys anything dark. The shadows seem to allow us to feed off them and make us stronger at the night and when any light is gone. During the day, I receed into the dark, abandoned buildings that time had forgotten, and wait until dusk finally comes around again. Then the fun begins.

The light. Something I can't stand. It's ungodly shine is extremely dangerous to creatures such as myself. It's painful to come into contact with and even the strongest of demons beg for mercy in front of a human armed with a flashlight. It's one of our only weaknesses.. But you didn't hear that from me..

Sightings

be lucky you survived

Since Sael is unable to travel safely during the day, he can usually be found hiding out in dark place until the sun goes down and it's harmless to move about outside. Caves are a very common place to find him. They are very dark and since humans don't tend to go exploring in these vast underground systems, they give Sael the privacy he needs to rest.

When he does feel like socializing, it's very common to find other creatures much like himself and other spirits lingering in the dark caverns.

--

Another place Sael enjoys to wander around are abandoned buildings or other deserted areas. Devoid of humans and usually dark and dreary, it's the perfect place to find spirits and other entities. In particular, the demon enjoys cemeteries.

They're full of negative energy which he loves to feed off of.

--

Once the sun goes down, that's when the real fun begins. When it's dark enough to safely travel, Sael crawls out of whatever haven he's been waiting in and heads to whichever town is closest, usually targeting those who stay out much too late on the streets all by themselves

Just make sure you head back early.

He has a tendency of following some humans home.

--
Then, there are those who are unfortunate enough to let the demon into their home. Whether you were out too late or dabble in black arts it doesn't take much to attract Sael's attention. Just remember once he's in, he's there to stay. For a while.

The first few weeks, no one notices much. The tricks he plays are harmless. You may find that an item has been misplaced or moved you were sure you hadn't touched, but soon enough, the activity will elevate quickly. Noises and voices can be heard when no one else is around. You may start to feel suddenly uncomfortable in certain areas of your home, particularly basements and experience strange and terrifying nightmares.

If you're skeptical enough to ignore the demon up until a this point, it frustrates him and he may start to get aggressive..

How strange...

Quite rare is it that a human actually wants a creature like me to follow them around.

Rest assured, I'm positive these spirits are much more.. benevolent than I...
