Hey there etwirl, my name is Harlow & welcome to my application for Laosas, whom I shall occasionally refer to as Laos. I've tried to keep everything short and concise, as I'm prone to rambling, but I hope you find all the information you need. If not, please don't hesitate to mail me (:
My name is Harlow, but I also go by Milz (a take on my last name), blondy, and oi you! With the latter being more common then you'd think. I'm a chill kinda girl who likes to hang with good friends, a debate, a cup of coffee and a camera slung about my neck.
I'm not quite sure where I'm going, but I'm hoping for happiness- I'm hoping for quite a lot actually, but I find its best not to get too demanding, most of the time its important to be happy with what we have, because we have an awful lot, really.
My accounts on this addictive site are thus: etwirl is my main account, where my two permanent pets are kept and doted on, leaving korimako and tauhou as my not-as-active-but-still-visited-regularly side accounts.
As far as my accounts go, I'm proud to say my account history is as clean as a whistle. Even though, if you think about it, whistles really aren't all that clean...
Regardless, I have received zero freezings, suspensions and/or warnings, and I intend on keeping it this way.
As for the account Laosas would live on, he would physically reside on my main account, etwirl because I would love to be able to flaunt him, and what better way to do that then to put him on the account that I'm most active on? As a side note, Derenky would be account-hopped to my side- korimako to make room for Laos if I'm chosen to adopt.
However, Laos would technically reside on an isolated isle known as Torahir, which is situated south east of smack bang in the middle of Arcaydion. This magical land is where he, and the rest of my characters, live.
This addictive site has had me captured for a myriad of years now, roughly eleven to be a tad more exact, and although I have had a hiatus or two, I've always been dragged back before long. I come onto Neo, much like other players on here, as a creative escape from real life, and as a boredom buster.
Back in the day, it was all about the games and the neopoints for me- I was quite neopoint-hungry. Nowadays the enjoyment comes to me in the form of my pixels, and the characters I make for them. A large lump of time also is spent coding or tweaking codes for various different things such as pet-lookups, pet-pages and my user-lookup.
My pets are loved and treasured hugely. I write about them, I code for them, I draw them, I clothe them, and sometimes I even sing about them! I know I've talked a fair bit about the pair by now, so I guess I had better introduce them.
Currently, I only possess three permanent pets, consisting of Eleqe the mysterious scallywag who is based out of Ksita Bays, but sails the oceans far and wide. Jaai the shaman, on the other hand lives hidden beneath the forests of Eloraah, in an ancient forgotten city of crumbling marble. Lastly, Derenky the berry nymph, who is having an overhaul at the moment and doesn't have much of a character.
If I had to sum up Laos, I think that you could easily do so with a few well chosen words. Skittish, quiet, and often un-trusting, Laos usually keeps to himself, for fear of rejection from society.
With a remarkably pale complexion, and dark purple hair, it's no wonder most people do a double-take when they see this skinny young lad. A large grey coat that hangs of his bony shoulders, consists mainly of various pockets which seem to bulge, patches and loose threads, whilst off-brown pants drag on the dirty ground.
This boy has definitely seen better days...
A plot summary will explain these quirks more easily, so here we go. This will eventually be fleshed out into a story.
The year is 15098, Laosas is 18.
The city Dreida (and many others in the neighbouring area) situated in the isle of Torahir was destroyed in 3289 due to a nuclear explosion, which caused the atmosphere to become toxic. This led to Laos's DNA to mutate. Not everyone was as lucky.
The mutated DNA meant that he was now able to breath the toxic air and now when high levels of epinephrine (adrenaline), norepinephrine (noradrenaline) and dopamine, (these are the main three hormones that help to produce the fight-or-flight response) are present, Laos mutates into a gryphon of sorts. It also damaged his aging process; he now ages very slowly, allowing him to outlive any mortals.
Fortunately, the air has just recently become breathable for outsiders, though many will never venture back to this ghostly city.
Shunned by society, labelled as a freak and a danger by other cities because of his ability to mutate, Laos stays in Dreida in memory of his mother and his friends that died in the blast. And because, he has no other choice.
As far as future plans are concerned, oh gosh. Where do I begin? Well to start, he would be treated exactly like my other permanent pets Eleqe, Jaai and Derenky, which means several things: A customisation scheme befitting his character; a custom pet lookup; his own unique petpage, full of art, stories and swish coding; intelligence raised to at least 100, as well as stats raised to even 20's; a petpet & possibly a p3; and should I ever begin BCing, perhaps a trophy- though this is a more unlikely event.
Lastly, just to state the obvious, he would be well taken care of. My pet's don't go hungry, and they are in general, to use Eleqe's current mood as an example, "delighted!". He will NEVER be zapped, traded, left to rot, or given as a sacrifice to Sloth (no matter how much he begs…) if you allow me to adopt Laos. Frankly, I find all the above actions slimy and rude and would betray the trust you would have shown in me by allowing me to adopt him. That, and I think he is perfect just the way she is.
So why I am applying for Laos, when I could be applying for a somewhat happy, sparkly and less brooding pet which seems to be the abundance of my current pets? Well, I've actually asked myself this question a few times, and tried to through in a few reasons that I thought would suffice as the answer. Though, I have come to the very same conclusion at each quarry: he's unique. (Oh, dear Buddha, how many times have you heard this copy-cat, generic answer being spat out by a willing applicant?)
Let me elaborate. He is refreshing, like a newly-dug well where the waters of creativity run freely and youthful. He is the present and future of my writing enjoyment, and yes, I believe he will further it. It's like one of those old speeches that those old guys give at new company meetings, "Yes, gentlemen. This is the future of [insert company name here], and it is a bright one." /end corniness.
So yep. He is a Darigan Eyrie. And an unconverted one at that. And unconverted pets are one of the more rare and expensive pets on this site. One that nearly everybody wants/drools at/admires. Including me. However, in saying this, I do not want Laosas as a trophy pet. I don't want him for status, or to be "elite". I don't want him to flaunt (well, maybe a little, if I'm honest) and tease others. I want him to bring my character- a sad, lonesome little mutant lad -to life. Because, it just doesn't feel the same with any other species, converted or not. They just don't quite cut it. This is why I want Laos. Because when I see him, I see his potential.
And these aren't my only reasons, oh no. I have come to love Laosas as if I had created him from scratch. I have fallen in love with him, his name and his personality and I so badly want to keep him forever. I find that I'm often more attached to pets that I have to WORK to get and, I believe that I have done just that, worked to try and adopt him. Because he has a personality that I've created for him and I've poured as much of my creativity into this little character, he suddenly becomes more then a just a bunch of pixels.
And so, my ramblings on how amazing he is and why I want him are over. I can only hope with my fingers (and toes) tightly crossed, that this is enough to convince anyone reading this that I would absolutely LOVE to have Laosas join us, or more selfishly, me.
Whew! I'm sure you're conjuring fantasies of chasing me down several country lanes with a pitchfork for making you read this much. Here, I'll even supply you with the pitchfork. Chase away. But before you do, thank you for reading all of this. Best of luck adopting Laos out!
