This petpage is to show the origins and a brief description of each of my (jjquil) Neopet characters. They span across Neopia, and many relate to past plots and site events. And yes, I love Ink Frames and Slorgs! To see artwork and about the user, visit my Artpage/FAQ here. Otherwise, enjoy~ :)
timid, solitary, pacifist, shy
Fein is a shy creature, born in the icy mountains with fur white as snow. It's taken a lot of time for her to find her courage, but she's emerged from her frozen homeland and discovered a love for flowers and gardening. She migrated to Shenkuu many years ago as a refugee from the Bringer of Night's assault on her people, and has been building her terraced garden paradise ever since. Visitors are rarely admitted.
Residence: Terror Mountain
quiet, regretful, cowardly, lonely
Much like Feinly, Trealiy was present during the war against the Bringer of Night. He tried to defend his home, but his nerves failed him, and he ended up trying to disguise himself and imitate the icy skeletons so as not to be attacked by them. When the battle was over, however, he found that his fur had permanently turned to ice, so that he would always be reminded of his deception and cowardice. He now lives high on the mountain, where he lives a lonely life filled with regret. He pines for Feinly, but his icy appearance is terrifying to her so he can only watch from afar.
undine, innocent, playful, clever
Yui is a creature of the Maraquan seas, blending seamlessly with the waves themselves. She can travel on land, but her love of the water is so compelling that she is unhappy away from it. She does not recall being born on land, only that she was once a small child alone on a beach, and Water Faeries carried her out to sea to raise her as their own, giving her this fluid form. She used faerie magic to give life to Nuhaha the plushie, so that she could have a friend on land for whenever she visits. She has the curiosity and wonderment of a small child still, wishing to learn about everything in the world.
gentle, dutiful, maternal, kindhearted
Emarena served as a priestess beneath the sorceress Jerdana in the ancient walled city of Altador. She loyally devoted her life to serving and protecting the Twelve Heroes. The one joy in her life was her little daughter, whom she was raising by herself - but tragically, her child went missing and was never found. These days, Maren can think of nothing more than locating the lost soul of her daughter, and will use her scrying abilities to do so.
overconfident, bold, unscrupulous, selfish
Ran is a mercenary, an opportunist who will do anything for the highest bidder. She will cheerfully double-cross any employer for no reason other than money, and cannot be trusted not to steal anything that isn't guarded. Since she defected from the Thieves' Guild under Kanrik's leadership, she has mostly been operating out of faraway Shenkuu. Local gossip speculates that Ran is obsessed with money because she wants to buy her way into the royal family, but no one can confirm that...
Residence: Haunted Woods
enigmatic, graceful, spiritual, insightful
Suteki is a mysterious figure that wanders wherever her heart's music carries her. She is known to the locals as a summoner, who often beseech her for assistance communicating with those beyond the grave. She rarely speaks, but her gaze carries much wisdom and kindness, and her dance rituals are hypnotically beautiful. She is never seen without her faithful Famfrit.
Residence: Haunted Woods
taciturn, loyal, protective, fierce
Sutekis guardian is a proud stallion, one who does not hesitate to resort to force if it means keeping her safe. He is often selfless in this duty, a warrior who puts himself at risk to protect his partner. He has a deep connection to water, and is drawn to it in ways even he cannot explain. Among the locals, there are rumors that Famfrit himself is a spirit that Suteki summoned to accompany her -- but no one is brave enough to ask the pair directly...
quirky, daydreamer, whimsical, dancer
Wyndred is a quirky Bori that can be found in a cemetery outside the foggy gates of Neovia. She loves to dance around the tombstones and sing to them, though her dreamy voice rarely follows an actual melody. She does not eat or sleep, since she has no need to. She is also fearless and carefree, for what could happen to one who is already dead? Wyn takes great delight in meeting the creepier denizens of the Haunted Woods, though her unblinking stare sometimes unnerves even the toughest of spectres. She loves to wear pretty dresses and comb her long hair, and it is speculated that before her death Wyndred was part of a theatre troupe. Due to her insomnia, she frequently encounters Arilang and sees the fellow Bori as her only living friend.
good-natured, easygoing, friendly, sweet
Jikans big brother, Milus is the most generous and kindhearted zombie in existence. He lets children pull on his ears and ride on his back, just like his little sister used to do so many years ago. These days he lives up in the hills outside of Meridell with his dear friend Msti, cheerfully being chased by mobs of villagers with pitchforks. He willingly chose to become a zombie, so that she would feel more comfortable around him.
doleful, ashamed, pessimistic, reclusive
Msti is completely the opposite of her companion Milus -- she is a melancholy, introverted Gelert who sorely misses the days she could call herself beautiful. She refuses to talk about it, but it's suspected that she was a victim of Vira and her cursed mirrors. Now her fur is dull and muddy, her sloped back heavy with thorns, and she fears that Milus's gentle friendship is merely pity. Secretly, she wants to win his heart, but knows it would be impossible.
paranoid, defensive, skittish, twisted
Arilang was a victim of Neovia's curse, having drank the potion that twisted one's deepest desire into a dark reflection of themselves. At the time, she had boldly stolen a Slorgclops someone out in the swamp had created, and was trying to hide. The potion left her so paranoid and skittish that she is unable to speak to anyone without fleeing, so she never ended up with the antidote. Now she hides herself under a cloak and face paint, and only ventures out in the dead of night... often to visit Wyndred at the cemetery, the only Neovian citizen she feels comfortable enough to speak to.
Residence: Krawk Island
unafraid, trustworthy, curious, amnesiac
Auggie is a friendly fellow despite his rather imposing appearance, and he captains a small ship he found abandoned off the coast of Krawk Island. He has no crew, nor does he remember much before the Krawken attack and subsequent reconstruction of the isle. He is content to ferry paying passengers like Phydaa across the sea, although sometimes it seems like he's forgotten something important... in his dreams, they call him De Augustus, and he is a centurion with gold armor, shield, and spear. But that is a different lifetime, and now he is a simple sailor...
Residence: Mystery Island
bold, adventurous, irrepressible, optimistic
Phydaa is an explorer, cheerfully getting more lost by the day. He hasn't been a part of civilization for far too long, and he now talks to himself almost constantly to fill the silence. His original goal was to find Lutari Island, but after traversing through the Lost Isle, the ruins of Geraptiku, Techo Mountain, and so forth, he's lost all sense of time and direction. He still loves beaches, though, and hopes to find himself on a sailing ship again someday -- preferably with his buddy Auggie.
precocious, vain, talkative, bright
Miluss little sister, Jikan is a chatterbox and can be downright bossy. She is easily offended and will storm off in a huff, but quickly march back to lecture the unfortunate bystander on exactly what they did wrong when dealing with a lady. She can be a touch shallow and immature, but despite all these qualities, her heart is in the right place. She is a good friend to have, even if she must always be the center of attention. She likes being around Gelerts and Lupes, and is frequently visits the ocean to meet her friend Pai.
Residence: Krawk Island
quick-witted, sarcastic, loner, clever
A former member of the Thieves' Guild, Legault came to Krawk Island to blend in with the motley rogues and be forgotten by his former associates. He is a flawless pickpocket and has a silver tongue to charm and swindle whatever he wants -- but if a fight breaks out, he will be the first to flee. He is evading both the law and the lawbreakers, because the penalty for desertion under Galem Darkhand is death.
Residence: Roo Island
stubborn, friendly, hard working, mischievous
Vilph is a simple, down to earth Bori who spends equal time tending to crops and baking in the kitchen. She isn't afraid of getting her claws dirty outside, or getting flour on them whilst baking her breads and pastries in her new shoppette on Roo Island. She is always cheerful and friendly, and sometimes has a mischievous stubborn streak. Her best friend Paws handles the bakery customers while she works in the back.
Residence: Roo Island
sociable, charismatic, intelligent, bookish
Vilph is her best friend, and the two Bori run a small bakery together. Paws prefers to run the counter, though, as she is more inclined to reading about the chemistry of cooking rather than trying it out herself. She traveled to many lands in her youth, but is happy now to reside on the quaint Roo Island, and join in their gleeful love of puzzles and games.
taciturn, ethical, uneasy, dutiful
Illumi is young but powerful, dark magic coursing through his veins. He is a quiet, troubled soul, disliking the violence that his parents thrive on. However, he is unwaveringly loyal to his mother Oplaw, and does whatever she requests regardless of how he personally feels about it. This includes serving his Lupe father, whom he does not trust because of his apparent indifference towards the Gelerts. He can already see that Vashful would discard them both for his own gain, and Illumi will side with his mother when that day comes.
sadistic, vicious, follower, cruel
Born in the lost city of Qasala, Oplaw was always fragile and feminine in appearance, but with an underlying cruel streak. After her siblings disappeared under suspicious circumstances, she was forced to leave, and did so with no complaint or regret. It was not long before she strayed into the path of Vashful, which changed her course forever. She became obsessed with his dark power and desire for chaos, and made it her life. Now she is never seen without him, always doing his bidding, always worshiping the ground he walks upon. She bore him a son, and to make up for her own weakness, pushes him to follow Vash as well.
Residence: Haunted Woods
dangerous, unstable, ruthless, brutal
It is unclear where Vashful originated -- only that he had an unhealthy love for battle, which eventually eclipsed any emotions or memories he used to hold. He cuts a graceful but intimidating figure, clad in a black jackal mask and cloak. He doesn't talk much, but one can see an unstable gleam in his cold gaze when the thought of battle crosses his mind. In combat, he becomes another being; swooping through the air and laughing with manic pleasure, flashing talons and shark-like fangs seeking any target within their reach. It's safer to avoid him altogether, as he does not hold much regard for those weaker than him. The only exception is the fanatical Oplaw, who has devoted herself entirely to his every whim. It's still unclear, however, whether he is actually fond of her or merely tolerates her presence. They have a son, Illumi, who may be stronger than the both of them once he comes of age, but his conflicted morals hold him back. One would expect him to prefer the floating Darigan Citadel, but there are too many rules and regulations for an antagonist such as him.
Four of my old canine RP characters have been officially retired, and were adopted by my husband where they live in comfort. The account is here, where I still visit them from time to time.
