Game Info

The Altador Cup Tournament consists of sixteen teams representing the lands of Neopia.
Tournament play is single-elimination, which means that the team that wins a match moves on to the next round,
while the team that loses has to leave and head home. The match-ups are completely random.
The eight winning Teams will go onto the 2nd round and be randomly matched up again. So goes the 3rd and the final round.

Round 1
6/8/06 - 6/11/06
Round 2
15/6/06 - 18/6/06
Round 3
22/6/06 - 25/6/06
Round 4
29/6/06 - 3/7/06

Yooyus

In the Altador Cup Tournament the players used a Petpet to play with: the Yooyu.
These Petpets are greatly honoured and very valued in Altador.
Only the most healthy and physically fit Yooyus are chosen for participation in tournament matches,
which is why many train their entire lives for a chance to play the renowned game
To give the game some extra difficulties, there a four Yooyus:

Faerie - In this form, the Yooyu floats lightly through the air, leaving players to wonder
when it will drop down low enough for them to capture and pass it.

Fire - This Yooyu must be transferred very quickly between team-mates, since keeping
it too long can result in some rather unpleasant burns.

Mutant - This Yooyu is extremely unpredictable and will often move in crazy patterns.

Snow - This kind of Yooyu makes for a very slow ball, and its piercing cold slows the
muscles of those playing with it.

Yooyuball Instructions

Before each game of Yooyuball begins, choose the formation you want your players to stand in.

Then select which direction you'd like to move the ball down the field.

Before you start playing

  • A game lasts 3 minutes

  • You can't take a breaks or pauze during this game

  • Scoring and introducing the Yooyuball will take about 8 seconds

  • The Yooyus are random, a new Yooyu appears when someone scored or when you start a new game

  • When the Goalie keeps the Yooyuball for more than 5 seconds, it will release itself into the field

Key Controls

  • Select a player by pointing at it with your mouse
  • Guide the player by moving your mouse around the field
  • To unselect a player press 'spacebar' or 's
  • When no players are selected, you can click anywhere on the field to select the nearest player to that position
  • To toggle between players press the left and right arrow keys or 'a' and 'd
  • Press shift to get the players back into their starting position
  • Bump into another player to get hold of the Yooyuball
  • Pass the Yooyu with the left mouse key
  • Press 'spacebar' to skip the introduction of the new Yooyuball

Game Screenies

Of course before every game, the Commentators gave their opinion on who's going to win

Well enough of that, let's see some scoring:

Of course I don't have any pictures of Haunted Woods scoring
(who would want to see that whahaha)

This means that the round is over and the 3 minutes have passed

A perfect score and of course don't forget to hit submit.

Scoring

On July 6th 2006 the winner of the Altador Cup Tournament was announced

and we'll have prizes available early next week for all those who participated.
(And a chance to win even MORE prizes in a day or two, so keep checking back!)

Congratulations to everyone and thanks for playing!

Award Ballot

Since the Altador Cup Tournament was over, the Neopets Team offered us another chance
of getting more prizes on July 8th 2006

Staff Tournament

Sixteen members of the Neopets staff have been assigned a team, and each will compete
in our own mini Altador Cup tournament! Choose who you think will take first, second and third
place, and if you're right, you'll win a prize!

Staff tournament rounds will coincide with regular tournament rounds but no staff scores will
count towards the real tournament. That would be cheating. ;) We'll tally up staff scores individually,
and those scores will determine who stays and who goes in each round.

Scores are displayed as Wins/Losses/Ties. In the event of a tie, goal differential is used to
determine the winner! (Basically, the person with the best record for that round wins.)
