How Adventures WorkConfused on how adventures work? Here's a quick explanation!
What are Adventures?Adventures are basically the story that the current storyteller, or creator as they'll be called, makes.
The difference between the adventures and the official Storytelling Competition is that you, the members, make the story!
So how does Adventures work? When beginning the adventure, the creator writes a short intro to start off. They can make the setting, the character(s), really anything that starts off a story.
The key part of the adventure process is that, once the creator ends his or her short piece, you get to tell them what happens next. Want a zombie Gelert to show up? Want the main character actually be the villain of the story, instead of the good guy? Want there to be a world full of jelly? It's doubtful the last one would happen, or even exist, but you get the picture: you control the adventure. All you do next is neomail the current creator and suggest what will happen next. The creator will then choose one (or more) suggestions and incorporate them into the adventure.
On Wednesday of each week, the time for suggestions end and the creator writes the next part of the adventure. (Final drafts of the story will be sent to KT.) The next segment of the adventure will be released on Friday, Saturday or Sunday, and the cycle will continue until the creator wraps the adventure up. The creator will then choose who will be the next adventure creator. (If the member cannot make the next adventure, a vote will be taken on who should be the next creator.)
Key PointsAdventures - stories.
Creator - the current storyteller.
Suggestions are due by Wednesday.
The creator will write the next part of the story and it will be posted on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.
Once the story is done, the creator chooses the next creator.
Note: If the chosen member cannot be the next creator, there will be a vote.
Offsite examplesIf you want to see how this works, you can look up the webcomics Problem Sleuth or RubyQuest. (Currently there is a Let's Read of RubyQuest by ColabHQ that is more organised than the orginal format. I suggest watching that until the creator of RubyQuest puts it on his own site.)
Past AdventureCurrently there is no past adventures. Maybe you could look at the current adventure?
