Once Upon A December

Dancing bears
Painted wings
Things I almost remember
And a song someone sings
Once upon a December

Someone holds me safe and warm
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory...

Far away, long ago
Glowing dim as an ember
Things my heart
Used to know
Once upon a December...

Someone holds me safe and warm
Horses prance through a silver storm
Figures dancing gracefully
Across my memory...

Far away, long ago
Glowing dim as an ember
Things my heart
Used to know
Things it yearns to remember...

And a song
Someone sings
Once upon a December

Welcome

The air is crisp and cold, silent except for the crunching of your feet on the powdery, fresh-fallen snow. Everything around you glitters like a winter wonderland, the snow piled on the ground, the icicles dripping from the dark emerald boughs of the evergreen trees. The entire world seems to have been wiped clean, starting fresh and new in dazzling, silent whiteness. Momentarily lost in your glittering wonderland, you forget to pay close attention to the ground beneath you, and your foot suddenly sinks deep into a hidden snowdrift. Trying to wrench your foot free from the bank of snow, however, is harder than it looks. Your futile efforts only pack the snow tighter around your foot, and struggling to free it only results in your other foot sinking down as well. Suddenly, a peal of light, silvery laughter sounds out behind you, and, annoyed and irritated, you crane your neck to see who it belongs to.

A white Uni mare trots out from her vantage point in a grove of trees, nearly invisible for her alabaster color. Her sleek, satiny coat is the exact same color as the snow around you, and her mane and tail are only a slightly darker shade of blue. As she moves, her tresses seem to float out behind her and drift in the air before settling, even though not a breath of wind stirs the winter snowscape. Her movements, too are elegant and graceful, and you notice that her hoofprints somehow peculiarly stay shallow and light, even though your own footprints left deep indentations. "Hello, stranger," she says in that peculiar, lilting voice of hers. "My apologies for laughing at you; but it was just such an amusing scene.

Now that she is standing right in front of you, you can take better note of her features. The elegant, dished head is inset with a pair of strange sapphire eyes that glitter and dance like a blue flame, and her legs are adorned as well: her left foreleg with a light blue satin ribbon laced up to her knee, and her right hind leg with a filmy sash tied on the cannon bone. "My calling is Danseuse de Neige," she continues, pronouncing the foreign name with a flawless accent, "though if you find it difficult or lengthy you may shorten it to Danseuse, or Dani if you wish.

Tilting her head to one side, Danseuse surveys you with a calm, almost critical eye. "Struggling like that in a snowdrift is only going to get you stuck even deeper, so I'd suggest you stay still," she commented. I noticed, you think drily. Settling down on her front knees, Danseuse lowers her head slightly so that you can wrap your arms around her smooth, satiny neck, which you do so gratefully, and then pulls you out of the snowdrift and stands up again in one fluid motion. "Much better," she said with a small smile.

Strolling through the snowscape again, but this time in the company of the white Uni mare, you can't help but wonder a little bit at Danseuse de Neige; who she was, where she came from, and why she was here. The dame seemed kind enough, or at least benevolent enough to help you out of the snowdrift, so you decide to voice your questions to her aloud. Pausing slightly as you ask her, Danseuse smiles slightly and leads you over to a large rock, shielded from the snow by a large tree overhead. Brushing the light dusting of snow from the rock, you settle down and make yourself comfortable as Danseuse stands a few feet away. "My story, then, you ask?" she said, a slight smile touching the edges of her features. When she sees your nod of confirmation, Danseuse stays silent for a while, as if in contemplation, then proceeds on to her story.

Friends

Amaranth Dream (Amara)

This is Amara, who's really my sister but is more of a rather close friend. She lives in a forest pretty far from my snowy home, and since I don't venture down very often I don't visit her that frequently either. Amara is somewhat vain, though she will never admit that to your face, but other than that she can be pleasant and is a rather enjoyable mare to be around whenever you're in need of company. She does talk a little too much for my tastes sometimes, though.

Pegasosalados (Pegasos)

Pegasos and I first met when I accidentally wandered onto his lands. He scared me a little at first, since his appearance can be a little frightening and he's a little menacing and unfriendly at times, but he's really not that bad at all once you get to know him. In fact, he's actually a bit of a softie. ;)

Petpet

This is Aesera, my Kazeriu. Kazerius are magical creatures of Shenkuu, and they are really very clever. She can't exactly talk the way I do, but she's very understanding of my feelings and has her own special way of communicating with me. Her name means 'Enchanting Beauty' in another language, and I think it fits her very well.

  • Do not edit them in any way, including removing the 'B_o_S' tag.
  • Do not use them on any non-Neopets site.
