Beginning Words
I, like many other users are fed up with what has become of the Help Chat. What used to be a place that questions were answered and nice people would lurk has a become a murky swamp of spamming, pound surfs, and rudeness. I know that there are people who don't think the HC can be saved, but things are truly getting out of hand. So what was my solution? I decided to make a page of ways to
help the Help Chat.
Pound Surfs
Pound surfing has become a popular way to get pets form the pound. Though many people disagree with the matter, its best to just
1. Politely link them to another board if there are two or more pound surfs going.
2. Don't flame.
If you are pound surfing, don't start flaming when somebody tries to link you to another board. They are just saving space and time.
GUP
Sweeping the HC is the newest thing called the
Green Uni Project. Basically, some mischief-makers adopt painted/limited edition pets and morph them into Green Unis. Still aren't clear? Just jump into one of the GUP boards (there are many out there). Don't create your own, because most of the time there will be a perfectly good board running.
Spamming
Spamming, as we've come to know it, is a way to post pointless comments. If you see one up, just report silently and leave. Spammers thrive on attention, don't give it to them.
What many Neopians
don't know is that just posting
REPORTED! or any variation of that in a board that actually needs help, is spamming. If you honestly think that posting 'reported!' will help the situation, post. But bear in mind that the Help Chat is meant for
help, its not called the "I'll Just Report Every Little Comment Chat".
Flaming
Ah, flaming, what the HC is known for. Flaming is pretty much being in an argument with somebody where rude remarks show up. I won't lie. Almost 80% of the HC flames. Personally I flame when somebody insults me. There is a difference if you flame to defend yourself or prove a point and starting a petty fight with someone. Choose wisely.
I cannot stress how many times I've seen people blatantly flaming somebody for asking a valid question. Look at it from their point of view. Its called empathy, you dimwits (xD!).
Rating Boards/Asking for Layouts

When I go on the HC, I see a couple rating boards. Rating boards are boards asking for a rate (usually 1-10) on applications for pets, lookups, screenies, etc. Its usually a good way for feedback/criticism on these kind of things. But what makes it unfair to others when somebody actually has the nerve to steal a layout, lookup, screenie, or application, and pass it off as their own and ask for a rate. Its not your work! Its best to only ask for a rating on things that you make yourself. Don't complain about a rating either, its somebody else's opinion, and YOU asked for it.
A lot of people ask for layouts nowadays. Especially custom ones. Don't be picky when asking for one, or when somebody kindly offers to make you one. They're taking time to make it, so don't flame them if it doesn't come out perfect.
