DaVi opened his eyes. He saw his Mother and father smiling down at him. He smiled, and he knew that his life would be good. But then he unfurled his wings. A shiver of fright shot round the room. The delivery maid quickly hurried DaVi into a cot and out of the room. A babble of chatter broke out as the baby was scooted out. After all, he was the first elemental to be born in 1000 years…

Years later, DaVi was the pride of the empire of Astraisis. He was kind, he kept his land in order, and he was the perfect prince, devoted to his family and his people. Every day people came to the palace to meet and speak with DaVi.
But DaVi knew that something was wrong. Everyone looked up to him more than they should have. Maybe it was his wings, but he didn't think it was. But naturally, he just put it down to his startling good looks, for he was a very vain prince, one of his only negative qualities.

Little did he know that something big was happening, and his life would soon change…

It began with a visit. Just like any other visit, the woman came to the door, and shook his hand. But then it all changed.
What's it like to be an elemental?" she asked him.
DaVi laughed.
I wouldn't know," he replied, "but from the books it seems to be an amazing lifestyle." The woman laughed, and gently pushed a carrot into his hands.
Eat," she said, and so, not wanting to offend her, he did.
He felt himself falling, surrounded by ice and lightning, and a feeling of power coursed through his body. It got stronger, and stronger, and stronger, and…

The cold floor woke him up, and he looked around to see his father staring down at him.
My son," he said. "There is something I need to tell you. Sit down, it's time I told you everything. And you Jo"

My children," he started. "My dear dear children. I wish I did not have to tell you this, but it is time you knew. Both of you are… you're elemental beings. Now I know you are both amazed, I know I was, but I promise you, it's not as terrible as it sounds. You will soon find out your talents, since I shall be sending you to the mountains far in the South so you can hone your skills with the only remaining elemental alive. His name is… and I am sure he will help you greatly. He is an elemental or rock and metal, and I am sure he will help you to find your true callings. I love you my children, and I only wish it didn't have to be like that. But your mother has packed your bags, and it's time for you to leave. Good bye my children…"

DaVi gasped.
In the wilderness. On our own? But what about ruffians, and robbers, and, and, and…
Don't be silly," his father replied. Of course you won't be alone. I'm sending your cousin Che with you.
Joshyla and DaVi visibly shuddered, but, knowing how their father idolized their dangerous cousin, they did not speak out. And so they left Astraisis to go South, towards Altador, and the Ele Moutain…
