Chrissy's Poem Page

These are the poems that I wrote from 5th grade to right now (6th grade). Three of the poems are written for Doobie, my cocker spaniel that died in March 2006. The poems are seperated into different sections.

6th Grade Poems

Coco (1/16/07)

The moment she looks at you
With those glowing eyes,
You can't do anything else
But smile.
Then, your next reaction
Is to pet her
And feel that soft blubber
Underneath the dark brown fur.

Coco's four-inch legs
And foot-long body
Is all she needs
To be the bright and cheerful
Of a weenie dog
She is.

When you release her
In the house,
It's like releasing a rocket
That had just been ignited.
I can promise you
That if you're in a bad mood,
And I lock you up
In a room with Coco,
You will come out laughing
With a grin on your face.

Endless Pages (1/15/07)

I hurry to my room.
As I drop my backpack,
I grab the book from my desk.
I finger for the bookmark.

Opening the book,
My eyes focus in on the black ink.
I get deeply absorbed in the white pages.

And though I hear the clock tick,
Time passes by unnoticed.
A whole new world opens up.

I don't see my bed or my desk.
What I see is the mythical land
Of Alagaesia.

Mountaintop (9/9/07)

I gaze up from a distance down.
The Enchanted Rock".
That's what it is called.
With a leash in my hand
And my parents at my side,
We began our little adventure.

Climbing the giant rock was not my challenge.
My challenge was to not hold back
And gaze at the view.
The nature. The beauty.
So for the sake of my challenge,
I kept going up.

Moments later, the ground flattened out.
Glad that I achieved the climb,
I played chase with my dog.
I wasn't aware of anything
Until I turned around,
And saw the fantastic world below me.

I walked towards it.
At first, it looked ordinary.
But then, something changed.
Suddenly, it wasn't just a view.
It was a painting.
A painting drawn with Mother Nature itself.

5th Grade Poems

Owl, Owl, In The Night

Owl, Owl, in the night
You fascinate me with your sight
How you sense things, I don't know
In a world as dark as Crow?

Owl, Owl, may you see
What doing this became of me?
To try to soar up in the sky
And with no luck I tried to fly.

Owl, Owl, in the night
You fascinate me with your sight
How you sense things, now I know
In a world as dark as Crow.

John (Ballad)

A brave young soldier met a little young girl
Her dress was as white as a pearl.
John', the brave soldier heard,
But no words came out of the little young girl.

The brave young soldier attempted to flee
Something was holding him back, he could see
John', the brave soldier heard,
But no words came out of the little young girl.

The brave young soldier gasped at the sight
The little young girl was encircled with light
John', the brave soldier heard,
But no words came out of the little young girl.

Quick,' the soldier heard, 'I have no time.
There is something most important you need to know.
Your fate…don't let your light burn out.
And at that, the little young girl disappeared.

Doobie (Sonnet)

When my dog had lost his beloved life,
I knew it would change my life forever.
A feeling of sorrow swept over me.
My heart had been severely punctured.
Though it is being mended every day,
There are still patches of my heart missing.
At least I know that he will rest in peace.
He will remain in my heart forever.
That is a promise I'll keep for my dog.

The Hours

I hear this song.
I feel sad, calm, and peaceful.
Yet I feel fear.
I feel mysterious, like I am in another world.
I think of the past.
The sorrowful, solemn, memorable past.
Sometimes there is a wave.
But sometimes, all you feel are small, silent ripples.
I can feel it.
It's like a wild roller coaster, with me riding in it.
I am in a trance.
A deep, silent, mysterious trance.

The Nightmare

I once dreamed of a nightmare
After many years of none.
In our now destructed old car
My dad was telling me about the weather that day.
There would be a mysterious fog.
Don't worry,' Said he. 'It is just fog.
Suddenly, from a point in the sky, the fog made it's way
Down, down, onto the surface
Covering the highway like a blanket.
The moment it touched me I went into a trance.
Yet I was fully conscience of the things around me
I feel red!' Screamed my dad. 'I feel red!
He was yelling in pain.
And to my horror, I saw drips of light red blood
On the rearview mirror.
It was coming from my dad's heart.
The world was spinning.
Music, the most frightening music…

Random Poems

Drifting (6th Grade)

In the dark, still night
Painted with light mist
A face among the clouds
Drifting...
Towards a hopeless destination
Called nothing.

No Matter Where You Are (5th Grade)

Doobie,
I miss your loving eyes.
I miss your gentle nature.
I wish you weren't up there.
Instead, being here with me.
No dog could replace you.
I know you are there.
But I wish you were here.
For all the things you helped me with,
For all the things you taught me,
All I can do for you in return
Is to love you always,
No matter where you are.

The Hills Ahead of You (5th Grade)

The way you looked at me; those big, sad eyes, told me.
I'm sorry.
I can't do everything I want to do.
I saw the soul through your gaze.
I wish I could be the one taking you home.
But that would be wrong of me.
You shouldn't live the same life every time.
Go.
Go ahead.
Relive.
Don't wait.
I will remember you.
We will mourn you.
But don't hesitate.
Start a great new beginning.
May you be happy for eternity.
Life is like steep mountains.
But don't let the hills judge yourself.
Goodbye.
I will love you forever.
