:: [1.0] Getting Started [1.0] ::
Neopets. A site started on November 15th 1999, however the idea came to Adam's head (Adam and Donna are the head of Neopets) in 1997.
Neopets has since then grown to have millions of users, and millions more Neopets!
A 'Neopet' is your virtual pet on Neopets. They can range from looking like a Elephant (an Elephente) to something totally alien (an Yurble).
You have to feed them, keep them happy, and to look after them. You do not have to have a Neopet to play the site (However you have to wait 24 hours after you've created your account to the all the things in the site).
On Neopets, there is a currency called 'Neopoints'. Neopoints can buy your items (Obviously) and let you play certain games.
::[1.1] Creating a Pet [1.1] ::
You have a chance to create a pet when your first open your account, but you can also create a Neopets later, or create multiple Neopets (You can only have four maximum Neopets).
To create a Neopet, click the 'Create a Neopet' button on the navigation bar, which should take you to a page with a list of Neopets.
To see them all at once, click the 'View All Neopets!' text link.
Now to choose your pet!
Before you do:
(Limited edition!): If a Neopet says limited edition under it this means that there are only a certain number of them in Neopia. From time to time more limited edition Neopets are released.
(Restricted!): If a Neopet is restricted this means that you cannot create it in the normal way. You will need to find out the secret way to create that particular Neopet.
Step 1.
Once you've found a Neopet you want, clock the circle just underneath the picture. If you click the picture, a little popup will appear with short animation about that Neopet.
Once you've chosen you pet, click the 'I have chosen' button at the bottom of the page.
Step 2.
Now you must choose the name, colour, gender, and personality of your pet.
Once you've typed in a name in the 'Neopet Name' box, click 'Check Availability' text link. This checks if someone has already taken that Neopet name.
Your account name can be the same as your Neopet name.
I.e.
You're account name: Neotastic
You're Neopet name: Neotastic
The rest of the form is very straight forward, and you must fill out all the boxes!
Once you have finished, click 'Create Pet'.
Step 3.
You now have to choose you pet's strengths and weaknesses. These don't matter if you don't want your pet to fight in the battledome. I you do, choose carefully.
(Note: These can be changed if you have all the Lab Map Pieces, or by weapons).
If you don't want the stats, clock the 'Re-Roll Stats' buttons to change them.
The stats are randomly generated.
E.g.
Attempt : 1
Health : 7
Strength : quite strong
Defence : tough
Movement : cheetah
Height : 18 cms.
Weight : 36 lbs.
Once your happy with your pet, click the 'CREATE YOUR PET!' button.
:: [1.2] Inventory Welcome Pack [1.2] ::
When you go to your inventory for the first time, this message will come up:
"You qualify for a NEWBIE PACK!"
A newbie pack is a couple of toys and some food that all new players get! It's our way of saying Welcome to Neopets! You can feed and play with your pet to make it happy and content"
Click 'Get my Newbie Pack' to get you're newbie pack.
Your Newbie Pack will contain the following:
One book
One plushie (Normally a blue Ixi)
One food item (Normally mashed potato with gravy)
One Wooden Blocking Sheild
Two cardboard petpets (Non tradable, sellable, and you can't donate/give them to neofriends)
Two paintbrushes (They will either be red, green, blue, or yellow. Non-tradable, sellable, and you can't donate/give them to neofriends)
:: [1.3] Games [1.3] ::
Games (
click here) are the main way of collecting Neopoints. You can only 'Send Your Score' and collect Neopoints form it three times a day. However, you can play the game more that three times a day.
There are four categories of games:
Puzzles
Action
Luck/Chance
Featured Game
The featured game is a game that earns you double the Neopoints for one day.
Puzzles
These games are puzzling… to say the least. They contain games where your object is to complete puzzles (obviously) and some are loosely based on real-life games. I.e. 'Cheat' is loosely based on card games (Blackjack, Poker etc).
Action
These games normally consist of avoiding or attacking enemies or getting items to score points.
I.e. in 'Igloo Garage Sale – The Game' you have to catch the items that Carassa throws to you from above.
Luck/Chance
In the Luck/Chance games, you have to bet a certain amount of money. The higher the amount, the bigger the reward. However, there is a risk of losing that money!
:: [1.4] Neopoints and Banking [1.4] ::
Neopoints (Abbreviation: 'NP') is Neopets' currency. You can earn Neopoints from games, the trading posts, shops, and random events.
Random events can also take Neopoints from you. To prevent Neopoints from being taken, you can store them in the
Neopoian Bank.
When you go into the bank for the first time, you're asked to fill out a form.
The form doesn't have to have you real information in.
The bank has 'levels'. The levels are as follows:
Junior Saver (Min 0NP to be at this level)
Neopian Student (Min Neopoints is 1,000)
Bronze Saver (Min Neopoints 2,500)
Silver Saver (Min Neopoints 5,000)
Super Gold Plus (Min Neopoints 10,000)
Platinum Extra (Min Neopoints 25,000)
Double Platinum (Min Neopoints 50,000)
Triple Platinum (Min Neopoints 75,000)
Diamond Deposit (Min Neopoints 100,000)
Diamond Deposit Plus (Min Neopoints 250,000)
Diamond Deposit Gold (Min Neopoints 500,000)
Millionaire Platinum (Min Neopoints 1,000,000)
Millionaire Double Platinum (Min Neopoints 2,000,000)
Millionaire Mega-Platinum (Min Neopoints 5,000,000)
Neopian Mega-Riches (Min Neopoints 7,500,000)
Ultimate Riches! (Min Neopoints 10,000,000)
The more money you have in your bank, the more interest you get daily.
To get you interest, click the 'Interest' button to collect your interest.
:: [1.5] Pet Central [1.5] ::
Pet Central is the 'central area' to access all areas of the site linked to your pet. From 'Feed a Pet' and 'Trophies' to 'Neohome' and 'Your Items'.
You can all access the Adoption Pound, Competitions, Send a Greeting and more.
Different areas about each area of Pet Central (I.e. Neohomes) appear later in this guide.
:: [1.6] Opening a Shop [1.6] ::
To open a shop, click on the navigation bar (which appears if your on the
shops page) and click 'Your Shop' (Second object from the right).
Click the 'Create/Edit a Shop' button, and fill in the form.
You have to fill in the Shop Name, Description, Shopkeeper Name, and the Shopkeeper Greeting.
Then click 'Create my shop'.
Note: Creating a shop costs 150 Neopoints.
To select a shop keeper, click 'Select a new shopkeeper'. A list called 'Categories' will appear on the left side of the screen, letting you choose your shopkeeper by ordering them in name, or colour.
To add an item to your shop, click the 'Your Items' link.
Then simply click the item you wish to put in your shop. A popup will appear with the Type Of Item, Weight, Rarity Index and Estimated Value.
Note: 'Estimated Value' is not the same as the selling price. Something could have a low Estimated Value, but sold at a very high price.
Click the 'Choose and action box' and click 'Put into your shop'. Click submit.
After clicking submit, you have a choice to refresh your inventory page, or to go to your shop's stock.
Click the 'Shops Stock' button, and you will be taken to a page with a list of the items in your shop.
You can choose to Remove (under 'Rm'), or to change your price (Maximum price is 99,999 Neopoints). If you want to sell your price any higher, it is best to sell it at the Trading Post.
You all have a choice to remove all, by clicking the remove all checkbox.
Once you have done what you want, click 'Update'.
You can also increase your shop's size (increasing it to hold 5 more items each time). However, the price doubles to go to the next shop size. (I.e. cost to upgrade to level 2 is 200 Neopoints, whilst to upgrade to level 3 costs 400 Neopoints).
:: [1.7] Opening a Gallery [1.7] ::
Information coming soon.
:: [2.0] Neopian Worlds [2.0] ::
The world on Neopets is called 'Neopia'.
The 'worlds' on Neopets are different areas, with different themes. Some resemble the real world (Like 'Neopian Central' slightly resembles a village/town), and others resemble to some fictional worlds (Like 'Maraqua' slightly resembles 'Atlantis'). Sometimes worlds are created because of plots – I.e. Altador. (These are normally
Mini Worlds).
Different worlds have different 'shops' offering different types of items. The shop in Mystery Island called 'Tropical Foods' sells the obvious: Tropical foods. There are also two 'worlds' which aren't on Neopia! (
Kreludor and
Virtupets Space Station).
There are some places which give you free items (however there is normally a catch. I.e. Tombola you have to get a 0 or 5 to win), whilst others offer you expensive items for some neopoints – but it'll always be a luck or chance, or a catch. For example, you have to let the Wheel of Monotony spin for two hours, and even then you might not get something good.
Here's a list of the Neopian worlds:
Altador
Altador and its heroes have returned after a thousand year slumber. While the city begins to flourish as it once had long ago, many Neopians wonder how it came to disappear in the first place.
Brightvale
Fifty miles west of Meridell there stands another castle, in a kingdom ruled by King Hagan the Wise (better known as the older brother of that scruffy oaf Skarl). The kingdom is known as Brightvale, a bastion of peace, knowledge and really lovely ornate windows.
Haunted Woods
Welcome to the Haunted Woods... please stay a while. Don't be afraid, you and your Neopets will feel at home here... just make sure you leave before nightfall…
Krawk Island
Krawk Island, about 80 miles south of the larger Mystery Island, was named because of its strange inhabitants, the Krawks. Aside from these strange lizard-like creatures, Krawk was a desolate rock, until about a year ago when a gang of pirates on the run from the law landed and settled. Since then it has become very popular with all manner of undesirable citizens…
Kreludor
KRELUDOR is the first (and only) moon of Neopia. Not much is known about it, only that it is home to a large colony of Orange Grundos, and it seems that some sinister mining operation is going on...
Gravity is currently 29% that of Neopia. Boing!
Breathable air is roughly 82% of normal quality.
Lost Desert
This sacred place has been hidden for thousands of years, or at least as long as anyone can remember.
Lutari Island
A mysterious island floats around the oceans of Neopia. It's never in the same place twice, which makes it quite difficult to track, and all the more intriguing.
New Maraqua
New Maraqua is the rebuilt city of 'Old Maraqua'.
Old Maraqua Ruins
At last the whirlpool has finally slowed. If you stare really hard down into the darkness you can begin to see the wreckage of the once proud city of Maraqua.
Undoubtedly a few brave adventurers will overcome their fears and plunge down into the murky waters. Only then will we learn more about what happened down there and if there is anything that may be salvaged.
Meridell
Meridell, the land of heroes and legends, was forgotten by the rest of Neopia until a band of unlikely adventurers discovered a strange link to the past. Currently hovering over Meridell is the evil Darigan Citadel.
Mystery Island
Welcome to Mystery Island, a tropical island hundreds of miles off the coast of Neopia. Watch out for the natives!
Qasala
Created at the ending of the Lost Desert plot.
Shenkuu
High in the mountains North of Altador is the mystical city of Shenkuu. Unknown to Neopians for centuries, it was revealed to the world by the crew of the Cyodrake's Gaze after a terrible mishap at sea. Its citizens were cautious at first, but have since welcomed visitors from all over Neopia with open arms... as long as they have their wallets. They are a merchant town, after all.
Terror Mountain is split into three areas:
Happy Valley
Welcome to Happy Valley. This is a merry little land where Bruces and Blumaroos can be found frolicking in the snow. Be sure to try some of the delicious Slushies, they are just the thing for a cold Winter's day :)
Ice Caves
Deep within a glacier in Northern Neopia, the Ice Caves have lain undisturbed for thousands of years. Recently, however, it's been opened up to the public, and is becoming more and more of a tourist attraction by the day.
Terror Mountain
TERROR MOUNTAIN!!!
You emerge from the Icy Tunnel only to find you have climbed to the top of the mountain. What wonders and horrors await you here? There's only one way to find out!
Tyrannia
Welcome to Tyrannia... a prehistoric world far under the surface of Neopia. You are currently in the Tyrannian Jungle.
To the North you can see the barren rocky plains of the Tyrannian Plateau.
Virtupets Space Station
Welcome to Virtupets® Orbital Space Station #4. The Space Station as you know, was used in Dr. Sloth's plan to turn every Neopet on the whole of Neopia into a mutant... however things did not work out as expected.
Since Sloth was defeated the Space Station has turned into more of an amusement arcade. Be sure to pick up some tasty treats at Grundos Cafe before you leave!
:: [2.1] Mini Worlds [2.1] ::Mini Worlds' are just worlds which are smaller, have fewer shops/places to offer, and have no significant importance.
Kiko Lake
To the north-east of Neopia Central is a large lake formed within the caldera of a long-dormant volcano. Although you can't see much from above the surface, below is a underwater village where over a thousand Kikos make their home. For those of you that can't breathe underwater, you can take a trip around the lake in one of the pedalos, or glass-bottomed boats.
Neovia
A city once cursed, Neovia was saved and its buildings restored by dedicated citizens who call it home. This place is the closest the otherwise grim Haunted Woods comes to having a bright spot.
Roo Island
Roo Island is a small island off the coast of Neopia Central. It is inhabited mostly by, yes, you guessed it - Blumaroos. These fun-loving Neopets can always be seen bouncing around with a smile on their face, and if your King was a gentle soul who loved playing games, and made every day a holiday, you'd be smiling too
