Palace gardens were always so beautiful. There was never a dead flower or a brown patch of grass. One could lose themselves for hours, weaving between the old trees and bright flowers. That was, after all, your goal for today. To lose yourself.
It seemed as if you were not the only one with this dream. You pushed your way through the thick foliage and came across a young woman, who sat in the dewy grass. For a moment you both stared at each other.
She recovered first. The girl jumped to her feet and gave a flick of her wrist. There was a thud as a blade embedded itself in the tree behind you, only a few centimeters away from your face. While you were temporary distracted by the quivering knife, the girl had pulled out a second blade and had moved closer to you.
Who are you?
You recognized her now. Her name was Choqwi, the legitimate heir to the neighbouring kingdom. Now that you knew who she was, you could not exactly blame her for her aggression. Rumour had it that assassins had been after her since she was fortunate enough to be smuggled out of her home.
Cho pursed her lips at your lack of a reply, but lowered her second blade. She tapped a manicured finger to her cheek, staring at you thoughtfully.
Either you're not an assassin, or you're a lot smarter than the rest of them.
She continued to stare at you. Perhaps she took in the fact you were trembling or your uneven, shaky breath. For whatever reason, she reached around you, pulling out the knife and tucking it away. Suddenly, she gave a bright smile.
What's your name? She gave a haughty sniff. skyekittie? Uh..that's an interesting name! Well, my name is Choqwi, althou-
You both glanced down as a spitting noise at your feet. A fox-like creature had uncurled itself from its sleep and was getting ready to jump at you. Choqwi reached down and grabbed the creature, unceremoniously slinging it over her shoulders.
It's okay, Darius! This is my new friend skyekittie. Cho cooed at the grumpy looking creature, before looking up and beaming at you.
(Alias) Cho, Kiwi
(DOB) 26 March
(Height) 5'6" (152 cms)
(Weight) 127 lbs. (58 kgs)
Personality: Being a princess, Choqwi often expects people to do what she says without questioning her. There are only a few people who she will listen to without making a fuss. Despite the occasional bouts of arrogance and bossiness, she is generally a very nice person. Cho's never afraid of helping other people, even at her own personal risk. Cho is an experienced fighter, with throwing blades and hand-to-hand combat being her favourite choices of weapons.

Looking her best
Cho could remember the cold. She was dressed in only her nightgown and was barefooted. The cold of the stone bricks burned into her skin. In any other instances, she would have vigorously protested, but the looks on the faces of her guards kept her silent. She was distantly aware of stumbling several times and the grazes running down her legs and arms, but the panic of the situation kept her silent. Although nobody had said anything to the young girl, Cho was aware that this was no training drill.
Behind Choqwi came the sound of explosions, which caused the tunnel to shake and debris to fall down around her. One of her guards swung the girl over his shoulder, and quickened his pace. Cho could see the lips of her guards moving, but was only aware of a shrill ringing in her ears.
It only took ten minutes to reach the end of the passage, which led out to the courtyard, but it felt like a lifetime to the young girl. Her guards swept aside the plants which concealed the hidden tunnel and placed Cho back on the ground. Her ears were still ringing, but she could make out what her guard was saying to her. Run. He motioned to across the courtyard, where the second part of the tunnel started. Run.
Cho couldn't help but shake her head. What about mama and papa? Despite her guards being as temporarily deaf as she was, they evidently understood her meaning. The young guard who had carried her - she suddenly recalled his name as being Darius - gave her a sad smile and shook his head. Choqwi began to tremble, tears springing to her eyes. Darius took her hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze. I'm sorry.
Suddenly, she was moving again, half running and half being dragged by Darius across the courtyard. Through her tears, she could see that the fight had spread throughout the castle. Weapons soared through the air, although her tears and the billowing smoke from the explosions prevented the young girl from seeing who was winning.
The last thing she remembered was a spear travelling towards them.
Cho ran her fingers through her short hair. Although it had only been trimmed to help alter Cho's appearance, it signified a much larger change to the young girl. Her mother would no longer sit with Choqwi in the sun, while brushing her tresses. Her father would no longer laugh at her unruly appearance and tell her that princesses should be more dignified.
Choqwi shifted slightly, moving to glance outside the carriage. As usual, it was quiet. Despite this, her guards remained wary, sure that they were being followed. Or rather, that she was being followed.
From across the carriage came a moan. Choqwi sprang to her feet, at Darius side in an instant. He was the second reason for their haste. Darius had taken a spear in his side. Fortunately it had missed anything vital, but their hasty journey prevented any medical attention being provided.
The best thing for both of them was to quickly make their way to the neighbouring kingdom and hope her dad's brother would provide them with asylum.
Choqwi placed her hand upon the brow of her guard, frowning at the heat resonating of his skin. If they did not arrive soon, it would be too late to ward off any disease caused by Darius' wound.
She moved back to her seat, curling her legs up underneath her. The rocking motion of the carriage shortly lulled her to sleep.
The difference was the people. Everyone behaved so proper around her, so cautious and polite. Lately, Choqwi had found herself watching her guards train in the courtyard or spending time with Darius in the hospital wing. Cho had never seen her guards as friends - more than anything, they had been nuisances that kept her out of trouble. But now...they were the only real reminders that Cho had of her home.
Choqwi was sitting in the courtyard, watching her guards shoot arrows at red-and-white targets yards away. She was fiddling with an arrow of her own, plucking the feathers from the shaft.
Do you want to have a go?
Cho startled and glanced up. Her surprise turned into a look of concern. She shifted, placing both hands on her hips and pouting.
Darius, you aren't supposed to be out yet!
Her guard gave a slight shrug, suppressing a grimace at the pain in his side.
If I stayed in there any longer, I would go insane. He changed the topic quickly. So, would you like to have a go?
Cho gave him a concerned look, but could not help the grin that spread over her face.
Synopsis: Choqwi's parents were the King and Queen of the country known as Julunia. When Cho was six years old, her parents were overthrown and the kingdom was taken over. Cho was forced to flee to the neighbouring country of Mercindor with her guards. As Choqwi is the legitimate heir to the Julunian throne and can claim her title as soon as she turns eighteen, assassins are constantly trying to get rid of her. Her favourite guard (and petpet), Darius, has taken it into his hands to train Choqwi in close combat so she can always protect herself until she is of age.
Cho hesitated slightly and tapped a finger to her cheek, looking at you thoughtfully.
Maybe I should draw you a map. She picked up a stick and began tracing in the dirt. Here is Julunia and Mercindor, just east of Moltara and near Shenkuu.
Julunia: Julunia - also known as the Sun Kingdom due to the fair haired inhabitants - was once ruled by Choqwi's ancestors. When Cho was six, the Kingdom was taken over by a by traitors and is now ruled as a dictatorship. The people of Julunia are known to be stubborn and quick-tempered, but very caring.
Mercindor: Mercindor is Julunia's neighbour and is ruled by Choqwi's dad's brother. Cho is currently living in this country until she is old enough to challenge the usurpers for her throne. Mercindor is larger than Julunia and used to provide support for the smaller country until it was taken over. Mercindor is well known for a large and capable army.
The Juma that was sitting in Choqwi's lap had been sitting patiently as she told her story, but began to wiggle around once she had finished. Cho absentmindedly gave him a pat on the head and let him bound off into the foliage. She looked back up and grinned at you.
Darius is my best friend and the only reason I am still sane!
Just like me, Darius has the option of being both a human and an animal. His human form is better for fighting, but his Juma form gives him a lot more stealth. He can also pack in quite a hard bite and scratch in this form.
I'm afraid that being a princess often means that people only become friends with you in hopes you will lavish them with rare and expensive gifts (or in my case, they are assassins!) Despite that, I have been lucky enough to meet some wonderful people!
Chinouh: Choqwi met Ci when he was visiting Mercindor trying to recover from amnesia. Choqwi was initially weary of Ci, but agreed to help him find out anything she could about his lost identity. Unfortunately, they did not uncover anything about him and Chinouh left the country to explore more lands. Cho has agreed to keep an ear out about any information that may help him.
Ryuku: Ryuku is part of the Neopian Royal Navy and came to Mercindor for political reasons. Cho decided to make it her goal to get the surly Commodore to laugh, a mission that she is still undertaking. While she is easily flustered by the disdain he holds towards her (and everyone in general), she considers him a loyal friend.

The palace garden had turned a pinkish-hue in the setting sun and had started to get colder. Cho gave a sigh as she looked around, before glancing up and giving you a wistful smile.
I have to go now, or my guards will be sent to find me. She hesitated. I really enjoyed our chat, skyekittie. I hope you will come visit me again soon.
She stood up, smoothing the creases from her dress. She gave you a wave and disappeared into the foliage.
