![]() Have you ever made a board asking a question and hoping for help not only to not receive it but be called double zero too? Have you ever been trying to sell an item and been called double zero for "deflating" the price? Have you ever been happily chatting away with friends only to have someone stomp into the middle of it flinging double zero about? I'm sure you can think of at least one instance of either being called it or seeing a friend be labelled it. It doesn't feel very nice, right? Let us first start the lesson as to what double zero means, here is a rather decent definition, even if you do not agree with the parts about it being a derogatory term just yet.
![]() As you can see, the word actually means somebody who is not fully competent, in this regard on Neopets. It has nothing to do with account age but more to do with their knowledge of the site. It is however highly disrespectful and probably the strongest unfiltered word on this site. This is because it is used maliciously, to make people feel bad whether they are competent in playing here or not. I know what you are likely saying "That in itself doesn't sound derogatory!" or maybe "It is a valid word defining a game aptitude level of a given individual!". Sure, both of those points are valid, but we here are campaigning for an abolishment of this word because of the fact that it is used as an insult on the boards. Just because TNT has decided to allow the word, even using it as an option for a NeoTitle, but I am sure they had no idea people would be childishly flinging it around on the boards to simply poke fun at an individual. We believe that people should show more decorum and respect for fellow users and not make fun of them for not knowing the proper price of a Rarity 99 Trading Card, or not knowing that the Brain Tree Quest answers are random. Instead, we should politely enlighten them... how else did we learn? There is a difference between double zero and newbie. A newbie is simply a new user to any site or game, and we all as Neopets users started out as a newbie.
And please, before we get hate mail saying that the word is only rude if you take it personally, stop. Regardless of how the person on the receiving end feels about being termed double zero, it is still name calling. All we ask is that you take a moment and think before you type. It is the age old rule: Thank you again guest for visiting. Feel free to neomail us if you have anything to add, or to take a button to link back.
