Pack Rat Avatar Tip

I know there's a list of all the items that are under 500 neopoints but if you want a cheaper and faster way of doing it you can search scorched, burnt, and broken on the shop wizard and most of the items that come up are 25 NP or less. It won't get you to 1,000 but it definitely helps

Packrat Avatar tip

lets say I have 3 Green Pepper Omelette, well have your pet take 2 bites out of one of them then put it in your SDB ( 1/3 Green Pepper Omelette ). then have your pet take only 1 bite out of a different omlette and put it in your SDB ( 2/3 Green Pepper Omelette ) then just put the last one in, in this way you can make alot of different options with your omlettes

You can also do this with any other multiple food. Like Jelly or Pizza for example

Cheap Pack Rat Av

I have figured out a cheap way, (though a bit slow, lol)to get items needed for the Pack Rat Av AND make nps in the process! I have found myself playing Dice-a-Roo ALOT!! lol It costs only 5nps per play(not per turn like Scorchy Slots) and once you get to the green or yellow die, you have chances of winning food items!

Lots of different types. Currently I am saving them towards the Av and I know that the cost I am putting out towards the game is cheaper than trying to buy these random food items separately and therefore I will be able to MAKE nps after I am all said and done getting the Av and dumping those items thru my shop! Just wanted to share!

Bored

Have you ever wondered why your pet won't eat certain foods, read certain books and allow you to groom them with certain items? Well there is a reason!

If the number of characters (letters, spaces, symbols, or numbers) in your pet's name is N then they will dislike books, food and grooming items with the number of characters (letters, spaces, symbols, or numbers) as found in the formula below:

Books
Dislike = 2(N+1) or 2(N+1)+1

Food
Dislike = N or 2N

Petpet
Dislike = N or 2N

Grooming
Dislike = 2N+2

NOTE

It is against the rules to have a contest in your shop!!!! And I quote:

Am I allowed a contest in my shop?"

Unfortunately the vast majority of shop contests are scams. If any user wins a prize it is normally one of the shop owners other accounts. Because there is no real way for us to monitor if a contest is legitimate or not, we have decided to ban all contests. This is to protect innocent players that could be tricked into purchasing over-priced items. Apologies if you are a shop owner that ran a honest contest, but you should understand why we are doing this."

Cooking pot combos

I don't think this has been mentioned lately. I have learned (the hard way) to check the shop wiz for the going price on a cooking pot combo before investing in the ingredients to make it. Many of the items do not sell high enough to earn back the neopoints you spent to create it. So, if you are planning to sell the item, be sure to check the shop wiz. I still make combos for fun instead of profit.

This doesn't DO anything. It's just one of those things that doesn't mean anything.

Changing Disease

If the current disease you have needs an expensive cure, and you are tired of visiting the Healing Springs every 30min, you can feed your pet a Poisonous Jelly to CHANGE the disease. In this way, you may have a chance to get a disease that with a cheaper cure.

This can help when you need a quick battle with someone but accidentally get a disease.

Is you Pteri dying or starving??

Just feed it something with the word 'worm' in it and it will be cured and bloated.

("Hot worm hot dog" is an inexpensive choice)

Items that make your pet ill (Thank you to alienatedduck)

1) Rotten Omelette
This omelette was left in the sun too long. If you get this from the giant omelette I wouldn't give it your neopet as it will give them Ugga Ugga.

2) Poisonous Jelly
Be careful when visiting the Giant Jelly. Feeding your pet this purple jelly will give your pet Neomonia.

3) Poisonous Lollypop
Jhudora must be up to something giving this out to neopets. This quest prize will give your pet Floppy Tongue.

4) Poisonous Mushroom
This is a rare and retired mushroom that used to be available from the apocathary. Eating this will give Neopox!

5) Ferocious Negg
This is a weird negg available only from the Negg Faerie. This will give your pet a random disease but on the positive side it will give your pet a few strength points.

6) Apples
Gives Kyrii's the Itchy Scratchies

7) Cream,
Quiggles get Neezles

8) Cheese
Skeith get Neopox

Other Ways to get Ill

1) The Wheel of Excitement
It's not as nice as it looks. This wheel will give your pet a disease if it lands on the skull and crossbones. The disease is not random, but it changes every so often.

2) The Wheel of Misfortune
Well it didn't get its name for nothing. Landing on 'Pox' will give your pet a random disease!

3) Random Events
A random event can make your pet ill with a random disease. If you're extremely unlucky Hubrid Nox may make all of your pets ill!

4) Battling
Some Battledome items will give your pets a disease if your opponent uses them against you. Watch out for Poison Snowball, Poison Snowflake, Poison Dart, Super Poison Dart, Mysterious Hemlock Dart, Super Hemlock Dart, Buzz Poison Blaster and Vile Swamp Water as well as others!

There may be more food and weapons added by the neopets team in the future so watch out, especially if anything looks a bit poisonous.

If you're looking for Meuka you need Neoflu or Sneezles. The only way to get these diseases is from the Ferocious Negg, Either wheels or via the random events so don't feed your pets any other of these horrible foods

Dubloon-o-matic

The Dubloon-O-Matic is a machine used to exchange lower dubloon coins for higher dubloon coins only. For example, if you have two, one dubloon coins on hand, you can exchange them for a two dubloon coin by using this machine. Here is how it works. In order to active the machine (i.e. to see how it works), you must have at least one dubloon coin in hand. In order to exchange for higher dubloon coins, you have to have at least two dubloon coins in hand. If you have at least two dubloon coins in hand, you can exchange them for higher dubloon coins by ticking the boxes below your dubloons in hand, and choosing the higher dubloon coin you want to exchange them for in the "exchange for" column. Anyway, before exchanging for dubloons, it's better to check the price of dubloons first by using shop wizard or trading post. Some dubloon coins are deflated due to free giveaways.

Frozen/Scammed

Scammed

A cookie is a small piece of data saved by your browser on behalf of Neopets.com. It saves you login information so you don't have to log in every time you want to do something on Neopets.com.

A cookie grabber is any browser exploit on another website that allows an attacker to capture your browser cookies. Those cookies contain your login information, and can be used to log onto your account from the attacker's computer.

The advice people in the forums give you is usually "delete your cookies!".
That will not make any difference if you've already visited the site with the cookie-grabber. They already have your cookies (which contain your pw and deleting them from your system will make absolutely no difference to the scammer, it will only require you to log in again...
Once a cookie has been grabbed you need to change your pw and e-mail, log out, then log in again. Deleting your cookies before you visit suspicious pages/outside Neopets sites, will help.

Another warning: if you downloaded a program from a neopets related site, and opened it, you could also get a virus on your computer which gives the hacker full control over your computer. He can do whatever he wants, like deleting files etc. Or it could be a Trojan Keylogger, which keeps track of everything you type. The scammer will know all your entry codes within minutes. So never ever download programs, and certainly not from people you don't know (even neofriends can become scammers, cause scammers never use their own accounts). Having a virus scanner on your computer is a pro. Also spyware is a way to get information about your computer, so you also should download a spyware program eliminate those

Watch out when you use chat clients. A scammer is sending people links asking them to take a look at their 'artwork'. This image link is embedded with a trojan keylogger, so it will start recording everything you type, including your Neopets username and entry code.
Do not accept links or images or direct links from people you don't know via chat clients. This could be very dangerous, cause he doesn't stop at hacking your account, he will then hack into your computer and start deleting files, etc.

Frozen/Scammed

If you get frozen or lose your account,

You have to contact Neopets to get their attention.
Once someone replies to your letter, ALWAYS use their e-mail to reply back to.
They look at e-mails with the subject text starting with, Re: first.

Be polite, but make sure you plead. Say stuff like, "Please I need to feed my pets" or "Please, I miss my Pets

Here's the info you'll have to send in to get your account back. Write it down and store it somewhere!

username,
email on the account (even if you no longer have access to it),
items in the inventory/SDB, trades/auctions,
Neofriends,
birthday,
stocks,

Golden Dubloon

Once in awhile, you may be able to bring some food home (this is random), you have to eat something from every category below. The cheapest way to do this is spend 8 dubloons on a Tropical Breeze, a Baby Bloater, a Fun Pop, and a Land Lubber. These are all one of the cheapest foods in their in their categories..

Starter Courses
Main Courses
Desserts
Cocktails

To enter the Golden Dubloon, you must have some dubloons in your inventory. Once you're in,, be sure to read the welcome message so you understand how the restaurant works. It's basically an expensive way to feed your pet.

If you invite people through neomail, here's a sample letter you can send.

Neomail Subject: Hi!

Neomail Message: Thanks for reading my neomail! I checked your "User Lookup" and see that you are not a member of any Guilds right now. I thought I'd recommend one to you that has been INSANELY helpful to me. It's called "LetsGetSerious" and its the largest Guild in all of Mystery Island!
They share amongst their members the very best hints and tips in all of Neopia that help everyone earn a minimum of 10,000+ Neopoints per day!! Their whole goal is to help you become a Neomillionaire!
Check 'em out
Here's the link:

http://www.neopets.com/guilds/guild.phtml?id=214653

Please also neomail onering_ and let her know I invited you to the Guild.

I hope to see you there!!!

Inviting New Members

If you're an Apprentice, and you invite a minimum of 10 new members to the Guild, you automatically get promoted to Scholar!

You must tell the people you invite to Neomail onering_ and let me know they joined, and you referred them to our Guild. This is to prove that YOU invited them.

Rock On!

The Council

I often get neomail about how to get on the Council so I thought I'd share some thoughts: Council members not only know a TON about Neopets - they've also spent months and months working hard at helping others in the Guild - proving their devotion to the Guild. We have five Council members now that are rock- solid leaders. There are times when a Council member will not be able to continue for personal reasons so we'll have to pick another one. However, when we do, the person picked will be another member that has shown an awesome loyalty and devotion to the Guild in a TON of ways. If you want to be on the Council some day, you just need to start working hard now at sharing ideas and helping others on the Message Board and volunteering your help with Guild tasks. Read the "Guild Rankings" page on our Web Site to understand all the things you can do to help the Guild and how that relates to promotions.

Guild Ranks

I've gotten questions about why certain "Wizards" and "Experts" have their position when they haven't posted hardly at all or haven't even been on Neopets for months. I'm going to post some examples now one at a time and introduce you to those Guild Members so you know why they have the rank that they do.

Rankings:

I hope those introductions help you understand the history of the Guild and some of the founding members of our Guild and why they have the positions they do. I'm just excited that all of you have joined us and made the best Guild in Neopia! WE ROCK!!!

introducing: candbarr and osoqute89

These are my other two daughters. Both were founders with me of the Guild and started on the Council. Like my other daughter, they explored and learned about Neopets while I worked at growing the Guild. Very definitely, they stay at Wizard

introducing: dumb_blondes_rock

Originally, she was "angelfrost2005." She gave that account to another Neopian and it is still in the Guild. She recently created this new account. As angelfrost2005, she was an original Guild member, an original Council member, and in the beginning, had more posts on the Message Board then anyone. When she came back as dumb_blondes_rock, she came in where she deserved: Wizard.

Introducing: nowahoff

This is my wife She was one of the original members, one of the original Council. She doesn't play much but definitely, as a founder and former Council member, will stay a Wizard

Introducing: return_of_elise

I invited return_of_elise to the Guild because of her insane stats and knowledge. She's since been stripped of those stats by Neopets, kind of like guesszoo was frozen. However, her knowledge and value for answers to questions is all still there. She's an AWESOME resource - thus a Wizard.

Introducing: myitalics

A Wizard with only 2 posts? Yes! This is my oldest daughter who FOUND Neopets and introduced it to me and my family almost three years ago! She is a founding member of the Guild and literally showed the rest of our family around Neopia. As the Founder of my family's interests in Neopets - she started as one of the very first Council members. Her job was exploring and learning about Neopets to teach the rest of us. I moved her to Wizard when she stopped playing as much but she'll definitely always be a Wizard.

No Guild Member should EVER just give anything to anyone. Remember: we in the Guild know how to make a ZILLION Neopoints. The best thing we can do for someone is tell them how to make their OWN ZILLION, and then they can buy all the faeries, codestones, map pieces, or anything else they want :)

Re: Ice Cream Coupons

The Ice Cream Cart is located in Happy Valley You can only get an ice cream if you have a coupon. You can get the Coupons through other people, or through The Snow Faerie Quests. The Snow Faerie gives them out randomly, so you have to keep doing the Quests in hopes that you'll get one.

Re: Job Coupons

Some jobs require a Job Coupon. Job Coupons come in eleven colours, from lowest to highest:

Green Job Coupon(lowest!)
Blue Job Coupon
Red Job Coupon
Silver Job Coupon
Gold Job Coupon
Purple Job Coupon
Pink Job Coupon
Green Brightvale Job Coupon
Bronze Brightvale Job Coupon
Silver Brightvale Job Coupon
Gold Brightvale Job Coupon(highest!)

A job coupon can be used for any job that requires a coupon of that colour or lower; for example, you can use a Red coupon for a Green, Blue, or Red job, but not for a Silver or higher job. When you use a job coupon on a job, that coupon will be downgraded by one level (a Gold coupon will become a Silver coupon, a Red coupon will become a Blue coupon, and a Green coupon will disappear).

The Brightvale job coupons work just like regular ones -- if you use a Green Brightvale Job Coupon, it will be downgraded into a Pink Job Coupon.

Re: Job Coupons

Yes, it will disappear. The job coupons may seem like there giving the best prizes, but there not. You would be better off just doing the basic jobs, they refresh at 10, 20, 30, 40, etc of the hour.

Job Coupons

The old ones were given out as a promotion by Neopets, a long time ago. The only way you can get them now is through other people.

Unless they are for a gallery I advise you not to buy them for the jobs. They are worth far more than you will actually get back for doing the job, and if their for a gallery, and you want a full set, you will have to pay a few million NP to get all of them.

*update* You can now get the Brightvale ones as a prize on the Wheel Of Knowledge. Thanks justice1234 for the info.

Kelp Restaurant

Re: Kelp Restaurant

According to Neopets, you cannot actually make a reservation. It is just the waiter's round about way of saying they are full." Everyone can get into Kelp to purchase food. The amount of NP you have on hand doesn't really matter.

In order to receive the avatar, take home a food item, which won't always happen. You might have to eat there more than once to get a chance at taking something home. It's also suggested to have your pet as bloated as can be before eating.

you can only pick one type of food to eat in every each course... and only one of that type of food. So you can have a max of 4 items to eat. The two cheapest foods, as of this post, are as follows:

Lemwart Fizz,
Thornberry Brew,

They are both found in the cocktails section, and you can pick one or the other.

Therefore, you would need at least 7,000 nepoints with you in order to get the cheapest item for your pet to eat. However, there is not a huge chance you will receive leftovers if you only order one food. Generally speaking, you are more likely to get leftovers if you order more food.

Remember, you get leftovers (and the avatar) RANDOMLY when eating there. This means you might need to return and eat at the restaurant more than once before getting the avatar.

The only thing you can do with it is put beads on it.

To get these beads, you can either get them as random events, or when you refer someone to Neopets Mobile or, if you don¡¦t mind paying a lot of money, you can buy them on the trading post .

There are 4 yellow, red, green, and 5 blue beads.

If you have your pet play with a Magical Blue Chomby Plushie, not only will your pet turn into a blue chomby, but the plushie will turn into a Blue Chomby Plushie (not a Non-Magical Blue Chomby Plushie). Magical plushies have one charge and lose the word Magical from their item ID when used.

If at the bottom of the plushie description it says "WARNING: Playing with this pet will alter your neopet" or something like that, it means it will transform it into whatever creature the plushie is. I had a shoryu and I played with a magical yellow meerca plushie that had that Warning message on the bottom and my shoryu was transformed into a yellow meerca plushie. I have also played with a green meerca magical plushie without that warning label and nothing happened.

Space maps: One pet gain 1 level (maybe) 3 rare ("Rare" is the item status, could be worthless to unbuyable) and about 10k np

Spooky maps:9 spooky foods (good for esographer, and not usually worth it) and 5000 to 10000 np

Underwater maps: All your pets gain one level, lots of underwater treats (mostly kelps) and unknown number of np (Not usually worth it)

Original: This is completely random, usually not worth it. you get some NP (usually less than 15,000) and 3-6 "rare" items.
("Rare" is the item status, could be worthless to unbuyable)

Secret Laboratory Map: When you complete this map, you get to use the Secret Laboratory where you can "zap" one of your pets every day. Well worth it.

Morphing Potions

Re: Morphing Potions

Morphing Potions can be bought from Kauvara's Magic Shop You can also get them from Random Events (RARELY), Certain Quests, Tarla (Occasionally), Prizes.

Morphing potions will change your pet to the color and species of the morphing potion. For example if you had a red flotsam and you used a green pteri morphing potion on it then it would become a green pteri

Transmogrification Potions may only be obtained through a Random Event where Dr. Frank Sloth gives you one. Transmogrification potions will turn your pet into the species that it says, in the mutant version. For example, your flotsam would be turned into a mutant lenny if a Lenny transmogrification potion was used on it

The price depends on popularity. Like a lenny potion would be expensive in the magic shop, in the shop wizard, it's hardly worth anything. Remember that you need to check the shop wizard's price cause it's a lot more reliable then the ones sold in the official stores

Thanks for writing. As stated on the website, every person is allowed to use the Tombola and other free activities once a day. This is true even if they share computers. It is no problem to share a computer with other NeoPets.com users, just be sure to log out of your account every time you are done using the website. This will help avoid mixing pets and items and NeoPoints in each other's accounts, or becoming suspect of making multiple accounts. It also helps to clear out your browser cache and reboot your computer from time to time.

Little tip for all petpet owners.... If you didn't give the petpet to your pet yet and it is just sitting in your inventory, your petpet can eat your food. This happened to me. My wadjet ate my toast which i could have sold for over 1,000 np. My tip is stock your petpet into your shop but don't put a price on it if you don't want to sell it or you can put it in your safty deposite box. You can only get to use the Rainbow Fountain IF you get and complete a Quest from the Fountain Faerie!! This is a random event, just like all of the other Uber-Faerie Quests (like the Light Faerie, Fire Faerie, etc.)

When you get her item go to the Faerie Quest place inside Faerieland, and she'll say something like, "I'll have a little something for you next time you come to the Rainbow Fountain"
Make sure you have the pet you want painted as your active Pet. Then go to the Rainbow Fountain. She will then say something like, "pick which color you would like him to be" and you can pick a color from a drop down menu.

There is no time limit on this, and you only get to paint one pet, one time., unless you get another quest.

You can't get Robot, Royal, Alien, MSPP, Chocolate, Clay, Coconut, Custard, Garlic, Jelly, Mallow, Snot, or Sponge Pet, from the Fountain Faerie

    Making a Screen Shot - For Mac's

I know most people use PCs, but for us growing few that use MACs here is how you do it:

To take a Screen Shot of your entire desktop, press Apple (Command) Key + Shift + 3. You will hear a camera shutter sound and the picture will save to your desktop as Picture 1. If you take more after that, they become Picture 2, 3, and so on.

Since MACs dont have Paint , if you want to edit this picture but you dont have editing software, its okay. There are two ways to do this:

-By default, this picture opens up in the Preview application. Although you cannot add text or colors or what have you, you can still get rid of anything extra you dont want in the picture, such as the dock or your background.

To do this, (while in Preview) go to File, Grab, Selection and drag the cross hair over what you want to save. This picture will save as a new file in the Drawer, drag it to the desktop to make it available.

-If you're not in a hurry to take the screen shot, this method will make the editing process a lot simpler. Press Apple (Command) Key + Shift + 4. Your cursor will now be a cross hair and you are now free to drag over anything you would like to capture. It will save as Picture (#) as well.

Hope this helps all the MAC users of Neopets!

Then, when I'm given a faerie quest, I can still use him. The faerie's won't allow you to open the shop wizard, but if he's already open, you can hunt for your item on him. It saves a lot of time and effort.

    Shop Wizard Listings

    Understanding the Shop Wizard:

(The following explains a bit more about what I said about YOUR SHOP WIZARD PAGE under "Guides" on our web page.)

When you look at a Shop Wizard Page, you aren't looking at everybody's shop. I may have a Pawkeet for sale at 80,000 NP and you might not see my name/price info when you search for "Pawkeet" on the Shop Wizard.

What you're actually seeing is a group of shops selling a Pawkeet. Neopets has divided its users into groups based on the first letter of their user ID and there are 13 different groups (there used to be 8, these are the updated groups).

    1) a,n,0
    2) b,o,1
    3) c,p,2
    4) d,q,3
    5) e,r,4:
    6) f,s,5
    7) g,t,6
    8) h,u,7
    9) i,v,8
    10) j,w,9
    11) k,x,_
    12) l,y
    13) m,z

Using my example of the Pawkeet, I scan the shop wizard and find the following results (my observations are in parentheses):

    i_love_fantasy360 Pawkeet 1 99,999 NP
    rain_babee Pawkeet 1 99,998 NP
    laughing_doggy Pawkeet 1 99,999 NP
    kalin11 Pawkeet 1 98,000 NP
pa_dj_0205 Pawkeet 1 94,500 NP (ah ha! somone has it several thousand cheaper! in addition there are two other

If I keep searching, I get:

wolvesfanette Pawkeet 3 99,000 NP (she's got 3 of them)
kalin11 Pawkeet 1 98,000 NP (I've seen this page before)
    mickatjus Pawkeet 1 99,999 NP
    bluesfnno1 Pawkeet 1 98,000 NP (another less than 99,999)

Doing a quick count, I made 9 searches and got 8 different results. There are still 5 groups of shops I haven't seen. If I was serious about buying a Pawkeet, I might keep checking until I got all the results. Note that page #7 hasn't shown up which is where items in my shop (thebigshop) would appear. If you don't keep checking, you'd miss the Pawkeet I have for sale at 80,000 NP.

For most items I'll only check for five different results, but if I'm planning on spending over 10,000 NPs on an item, I usually check until I have 11 or more results. The more NPs at stake, the more I want to be sure of getting a good price!

    Two last points:
When you find an item for 99,999 NP on only one page, the item may normally be unbuyable, but it might not be worth much more than 100K so the the user has put it in his shop, sacrificing a few NPs for a quicker sale (unlike the trading post, all Shop transactions are in PURE NPs).

Before you go after a buyable unbuyable, consider if there are other cheaper ways of getting it (the Pawkeet for example can be bought on Krawk Island). Try to remember items that are obviously worth a LOT more than 99,999 NP (ex. Baby Paint Brush, H4000 Helmet, etc) and use the Trading Post and Auctions to get an idea of what people WANT for the item - this might not be the actual value, but it gives you somewhere to start.

    Stamps

You get them mainly at the Neopian Post Office Kiosk. Then you can put them in your stamp album, or sell them. If you put them in your album, you can't take them out again. You can also get some as a random event.

    TCG cards.

The items ending in (TCG) are only available through Rare Item Codes that you can get in real life trading card booster packs. So the only way to buy them is through another user's shop, auction, or Trading Post.

    techo cracker

techo crackers (and all the other crackers) are toys that when your pet plays with them, they split open and you get 2 or 3 toys. Ones like hairy tash, plastic ring. My advice would be to sell the cracker because it is worth a lot more than the toys you get from it

    Toy Repair

It will sometimes cost you a couple of hundred to repair your broken toy/nps.

For the broken Item, he'll fix it, if he can.

Broken toys often (not always) sell for more than unbroken toys. Always check the price of both items before deciding which you want. If the broken one is higher priced, just let your pet play with the toy over and over until it breaks. (Note - not all toys break but most do).

For the Bag, he may give you some nps, or an item back, and you lose the bag. You usually get more if you just sell the broken bag in your shop. Always check first.

If you don't have the "Broken" Avatar, you will get it having something fixed.

    Trading Post

You can only have a maximum of 10 lots

You can offer, or Trade, up to 10 items in a Lot.

Your Trade has to be listed for at least 15 minutes before you can cancel it.

You can offer up to 800,000 nps in a Trade. You must also offer an item.

If someone asks for "Pure Nps" it means they just want nps for their item. You still have to add a cheap item with the nps, or the Trade won't go through.

You can click "Browse Lots/Newest 20" to see the newest items up for trade.

You can also type in the name of the item you're looking for in the search box.

For the current price, put the name of the item in the Search Box, make sure you have "identical to my phrase" and "newest" checked.
