CONTROLS:
For the controls you can either hit the Instructions button on the main screen of the game, or at
any time during the game you can hit the ESC key, then the View Instructions button. The only
control that is not listed in the game is how to get a full screen; simply right click your mouse and an
option should pop-up to select full screen mode. If for any reason you want to view the instructions
here I have taken screen shots of what you would see. They are pretty self-explanatory.

WEAPONS:

Bzzt Blaster - This is your primary weapon, you start off with this weapon and you love this weapon
for one reason and one reason only, unlimited ammunition. I don't know how the Grundo scientists did
it and I don't care, just keep blasting this thing away when you have no other options. The key for it on
your keyboard is 1.

Virtublaster 3000 This gun is slightly weaker than the Bzzt Blaster, but because of it's continuous
rate of fire it can wipe out enemies a lot faster. This weapon is best used when enemies are lined up in
a row, first hit them with the sleep ray then bring this bad boy out to finish the job. The only enemy that
this can be ineffective against is small spyders, as they are difficult to target when they attack you
as a group. The key for it on your keyboard is 2.

Goo Blaster The major splash damage gun in your arsenal., if ever you are surrounded by a huge
group of enemies you will bless the day that you picked this weapon up. This weapon deals damage
gradually over time, however, while the enemies are being dealt that damage they do not attack you.
So, if the enemies are more in a group formation, once again hit them with the Sleep Ray and then
finish them off in bundles with the Goo Blaster. The key for it on your keyboard is 3.

Sleep Ray This gun has a huge range of attack, almost the same splash range as the Goo Blaster
but travels several feet away from you as well. This makes it able to disable large groups of enemies by
causing them to fall asleep for five seconds at a time. Though the gun does not do any damage by
itself, it does decrease an enemies armor, so hitting enemies with this before polishing them off with
the Virtu or Goo Blaster is most efficient. The key for it on your keyboard is 4.

ITEMS:

There are several items that you will see drop throughout the game, all of them are helpful. However,
only one of each item will drop at a time, so if there is a health pack that one enemy dropped and a
different enemy drops the same item, then the first health pack will disappear, so if you need an item,
it is best to pick it up as soon as it drops, so you get another chance to get the same item.

Ammo Here are the different ammo packs as they appear in the game. From left to right they are
Goo Blaster, Sleep Ray, and Virtublaster 3000 of course the Bzzt Blaster does not have an ammo
drop as it never runs out.

Health Packs restore your health, here is one as it appears in the game.

Oxygen Tanks replenish your O2 bar, here is one as it appears in the game.

Speed Boost increase your speed for 15 seconds, however, it does not increase your rate of fire.
These are most helpful when you are going for a trophy as outlined in the Advanced Guide portion of
this page, here is one as it appears in the game.

TARGETS:

Target - You have to destroy three of these for each level before you can advance, they are indicated
on the maps at the start of each level by a target symbol. The Virtublaster 3000 destroys these the
fastest.

Floating Targets - Three of these surround the final target, they are a lot stronger than the usual
targets you destroy, but the Virtublaster 3000 is once again the gun for the job.

Big Floating Target - After you have destroyed the 3 targets floating around this, it becomes
susceptible to your attacks. Use your Virtublaster 3000 to wipe this out in a matter of seconds.

ENEMIES:

There are 5 different enemies that you will come across. They get increasingly more difficult to destroy
as the game progresses, so I tried to give you a general idea on just how powerful each one is in this
section.

Damage Arrows - will appear around your target in the center of the screen when an enemy attacks
you from a direction that you are not currently looking in. The red arrow indicates which direction you
are being attacked from.

Small Spyder - These small spyders are the easiest, yet most abundant enemies in the game. They
will collapse from 3 blasts from your Bzzt Blaster, or a single hit from your Goo Blaster will take
care of large groups of these. Most annoying thing about these guys is they are difficult to target
with your Virtublaster, especially when they are several of them surrounding you.

Big Spyder - Looks identical to the small Spyders except bigger. They will take 4 hits from your Bzzt
Blaster to destroy, and they deal slightly more damage as well. A single hit from your Goo Blaster will
also take this guy out.

Roller Robot - This is the first enemy that deals enough damage to worry about. It takes 5 shots from
your Bzzt Blaster to bring it down, a Goo Blaster will no longer destroy it unless you first use your
Sleep Ray.

Big Globilol - These are the Green Aliens that you will find at the end of the second stage, and
deal quite a bit of damage if left unattended. They can withstand up to 9 shots from your Bzzt Blaster,
hitting them with a Sleep Ray and then the Goo Blaster still won't bring them down. I usually use the
Sleep Ray then the Virtublaster 3000 to finish these off.

Dr. Sloth Clone - These robotic monstrosities are only found on the third and final level. They deal a
lot of damage, but can withstand only 8 shots from your Bzzt Blaster. Once again the Sleep Ray/Goo
Blaster combo doesn't work, so the Sleep Ray and Virtublaster 3000 are best used to dispatch of
these nuisances.

LEVEL ONE:

Sergeant Zarex warps in, possibly from the veterans old age home, it's been a long time since he has
felt the weight of the standard issue Bzzt Blaster in his hand, but almost instantly the unfamiliarity
disappears and he's once again focused on his mission to discover what exactly is going on inside of
Kreludor Mine Complex 13-A.

**Map turned upside down on purpose so that it is easier to read.**

Take a bit of time to get used to your controls, not too much time though as you do have a limited
supply of oxygen as indicated by the blue O2 bar in the bottom of your screen. The map on the left
hand cave wall is the same map that there is a screen shot of above, please refer to it throughout the
Level 1 guide if you need directions.

Target 1 -
When you you feel ready, head through the cave opening and go directly forward towards the first
tunnel you see, the first baddies will warp in in front of you, these are the small robotic Spyders (for
more info on this enemy please click ). A little bit further on this path you will come across your
second type of enemy, the larger robotic Spyders.
Head up the slope and around the bends and in the far back of this section is your first target, it looks
like a blue eyeball with a red and black center (for a picture click ), give it a few blasts from
your gun and it will explode giving you your first new weapon! The weapon it gives you will be one of
the three primary weapons (for more on weapons and the most effective way to use them please
click ).

Target 2 -
Head back down where you came from until you get to the exit of the corridor, make a right hand turn
and you will see a path to your right and one to your left, take the right hand path.
You will come out to the main chamber of this stage,in the distance ahead of you is a large gray door
with red stripes which is locked. To your right hand side there is another opening in the cave wall, go
through there, at the end of that tunnel is Target 2, destroy that and exit the corridor.

Target 3 -
Begin heading right from the corridor exit, following along the cave wall, walk past the gray locked
door and three steel barrels, once again there is a cave entrance. Go along this short path to Target 3,
your final target, blast it away. It is along this path that you may come across your third enemy type
Roller Robots (for more info on taking this guy out click )
The big gray door is now open, enter fearlessly through the green swirling vortex of doom and destru...
I mean vitality and ammunition replenishment! Very nice touch to those swirling vortexes.

Whew, that was alot of work! Good job for making it this far, Seargent Zarex better be made Staff
Sergeant Zarex after all of this. =)

LEVEL TWO:

You start off in another big cave, to your left there is once again a map that you should memorize using
your photographic memory (or maybe just the use one that is pictured right below this section
whenever you need to), got that all ingrained? Alright lets MOVE OUT!

Target 1 -
Follow the only exit downwards until it leads into a larger room with lots of crystals in the middle.
(Yes, you could make a killing selling these on the Kreludor black market, but then you wouldn't be a
hero. Sigh...) Head to your right, go in the first entrance that you see, there is a short path leading to
Target 1, destroy it and receive your second weapon! Once again, it's a weapon chosen randomly out
of the 3 primary weapons (please click for more info on weapons).

Target 2 -
Exit the corridor and head right, following the cave wall go in the first entrance on your right hand side.
(If you are in desperate need of some health at this point the path past this one will have two health
packs in it and a little bit of ammo. After you get that head back to the entrance that you passed over.)
You enter into a long corridor, and for the first time in this game, head along the left hand wall, the very
first hole in the left hand side of the cave wall enter, for some reason when I first started playing this
was easy to pass over, so make sure you don't miss it! If you go into an entrance and the room is very
dark, then you went to far, so turn back around and find it. In here is Target 2, as well as some ammo
and an oxygen tank. Destroy the target, lock 'n load, stop for a quick breather, and lets get on with
this mission soldier!

Target 3 -
Continue down the path as you were, heading past the two entrances on your left hand side, do not go
into these, the rooms are very dark, and if you don't have the night vision goggles it is easy to die down
there. Simply continue along the path until you enter a big chamber... Once again with those huge
crystals... constantly tempting you... Inside this chamber you will most likely first encounter your new
foe, the Big Globilol (these guys are alot tougher than previous enemies, so for more info click .
Looking to your left you can see another big gray locked door, on your right will be an opening in the
cave wall. Head towards that opening, following the path down is Target 3, the final target for this
stage!

Go back up the corridor, head towards the swirling vortex, if you like shoot the Dr. Sloth poster
along the way... satisfied? Alright lets take on level 3! O, and what what are we now, better be
Sergeant FIRST CLASS after seeing how I didn't take any of those crystals! =P

LEVEL THREE -

Here we are, the mother of all levels... Deeper than any teleporter could reach, far out of radio range,
armies enemies above us, hordes enemies below... ahhh, this is what you live for, this is why they
called you and only you in Sergeant Zarex. So let's get to the bottom of this mystery once and for all!

Target 1 -
You start in, you guessed it, a cave, to your left a map, above this sentence, a map that is actually
going to help you. =)
Head down your the tunnel to your right hand side, Eeeek! It's Dr. Sloth! RUNNNN! Hahah, just
kidding a seasoned warrior like you would never run, blast this Dr. Sloth Clone away until they
wouldn't even accept what's left as a donation to the Meri Acre Rubbish Dump! (For more info. on
this enemy please click
.) Head to along the wall to your right hand side, go into the first tunnel
you come across, around the corner is Target 1, blast it away and receive your 3rd and final additional
weapon (more info click ).

Target 2 -
Exit out of the corridor and head to your right, go into the next tunnel, you come into a room where
there are 3 entrances to different paths. Hrmmm, which one? Wait a second, if you look to your right
hand side there is target number 2 on the wall surrounded by a moat of lava! Hahaha, sneaky sneaky.
Blast it to rubble!

Target 3-
At this point begin to conserve your ammunition for the Virtublaster 3000 (the rapid fire gun #2 on
keyboard) this will help you defeat the final "boss". Now head into the entrance on your left hand side,
their is a slight slope upwards, in front of you now is a locked door with red lines across it, head to
your left hand side instead.
You come to another choice of two paths, the left hand path leads to where you destroyed target 1 so
lets go down the right hand path.
Follow along until you come to yet another choice between directions, left goes back to the beginning
of the stage, right hand side then, follow this path down it curves sharply to the left, leading down to
some ammo, oxygen, and health. Across the lava on the wall is the third target. Woot almost there, I
can sense it!

The Final Target -
Turn around and head straight along the path, a door that used to be locked is now unlocked so go
through there. You enter into a huge metal room, in the center is a big floating blue ball, (click
for more info and a pic of this target) surrounding by three floating smaller balls (click ) which
look similar to the center of all those targets we just destroyed.

This must be it!

This can be a difficult battle, because there are 3 different areas where large groups of monsters can
spawn, to make it easier, when monsters do warp in, hit them with your Sleep Ray (#4 on keyboard
hehe I love that gun). This will give you several seconds to either finish them off in large chunks with
your Goo Blaster (The splash damage weapon #3 on keyboard) or to whip out your Virtublaster
3000 (#2 on your keyboard) that you've been conserving your ammunition for and start to hit the 3
smaller targets, which it take down in a couple of seconds. Once the 3 smaller balls are down, hit the
bigger ball with all you've got, the Virtublaster is once again the best gun for the job and will finish it off
in a matter of seconds. If you need some health or extra ammo in the left hand corner of the room
there are health packs and ammo reloads. When the big ball is close to being destroyed part of it turns
orange and then red. Eventually it will fall to the ground exploding in a flash of white and you get a
quick video of all the robots powering down!

Woot! I have to say, CONGRATULATIONS! The mines are safe yet again thanks to your bravery
and endless courage, and I think Master Sergeant Zarex has a very nice ring to it. =))
So you ready to go for a trophy now or what! Check out my Advanced Guide below for more info.

*Personal Note - Please contact me if this guide helps you win a trophy so that I may put it into a
testimonial section! =)

*Personal Note Numero Dos - In a few weeks I will update this guide with a better method of
obtaining the trophy, it will give you a couple hundred extra points, hopefully this way more people will
obtain the gold from this guide. =)

ADVANCED GUIDE:

Alright, this is a guide for all those more experienced players who are chasing after a trophy;
preferably gold of course. You've memorized the maps, you've gone through the game without losing
any health just for fun, and you giggle at how large a group of enemy you can make fall asleep next to
each other and then destroy with your Goo Blaster. Most likely you also have been frustrated by the
cannot accept your score right now" message, I know that's what really got to me after the 7th time of
having my trophy qualifying score not being processed, but this should help all of that. For those
interested in how much this might help them, at the time of writing this I had the top score in the game
(3501 woot woot haha) and had earned the gold medal. Hopefully everyone from this point on will
thoroughly trash that record, using this guide, and earn that trophy for themselves.

Knowledge is Power -
First and foremost, the game scoring system is on a ten minute timer. This means the points that
enemies give you when they are destroyed decreases gradually over that time frame. After those ten
minutes are up everything but the Big Globilols and Dr. Sloth Clones (which give you a measly one
point) drop to zero. Obviously, speed and efficiency is the key!

Level One -
Simple, seek and destroy the targets in numerical order as outlined . At Target 1 make sure
you get the Goo Blaster, if you get the Sleep Ray or Virtublaster 3000 restart your game. This is
because as well as going as fast as possible you must destroy as many enemies as you can along the
way. However, when you encounter enemies do not slow down, shoot while moving! Even run
backwards and shoot at them, but no matter what continue to head towards your targets. Doing a
quick test run I beat the first stage in 2 minutes with an ending score of 370.

Level Two -
Same thing, run through, destroying enemies and targets as outlined but don't slow down. If
you get the Virtublaster then that's good luck, as it can help you destroy single enemies faster along the
way. If you don't get it don't worry, just continue destroying those enemies while wiping out
the targets in the order outlined in the map above. On my test run the second level took me 2:30 and I had
an ending score of 1060.

Level Three -
Keep on blasting enemies and destroy the 3 targets in the same order as , enter the big gray
room where the end target is (the big blue ball). You should have about 5 minutes or so now left on
your ten minute timer, this place has 3 locations where monsters teleport in. If you followed my map
above and entered in the same direction I always do they will spawn to your left hand side, and the far
back left and right hand corners. Destroy as many monsters as possible as quickly as you can, on my
test score my ending score was 2920 before everything dropped to zero, on several different
occasions I have been able to get well over 3000 however. Now for the more boring part, if your
score is high enough in comparison to the high score table, you have to continue running around and
keep taking out the Sloth Clones and Globilols bumping your score 1 point at a time until you have
taken the lead, for me this took about 10 or so more minutes, not to bad. If this works, you have my
congratulations on your brand new trophy. =)

**Important note: The chances of the "Cannot accept your score right now" error increases greatly
the longer you play, so getting that high score up as fast as possible is most important. It seems that
it is safest to send your score in before 28-32 minutes are up.If you are still several hundred points
off by the time the 10 minute timer runs out, you may be better just starting all over again unless you
want to try your luck. Remember if ever you do restart close completely out of the game window,
this will prevent some bugs from happening as well as insure that your score will send. Additionally
a score above 3500 will give you the error message. However it could mean that your score is
being reviewed by The Neopet's Team, so look at your number of plays for the day, and if that
increased then you know it is simply being reviewed.

TESTIMONIALS:

Anyone who uses my guide and neomails me that it helped them get a trophy I will be putting in this
section. If you use my guide, get a trophy, and don't message me then you are a booger brain! Which
is about as serious an insult as you can get on Neopets. =P

Contemno_Hominum - Hey, just saying thanks for the excellent guide. I went from being stuck in
15th place to 1st in a matter of two or three games. Brilliant! (Gold)

Nakanja - Your guide was very helpful. =D I went from not reaching the top 100 to 5th place to a
gold trophy in my next two plays after reading it. Knowing that it's based on time changes everything.
Before I thought people with a high score had superhuman persistence and shot 1000 aliens/Sloth
clones in the last room. =O (Gold)

Tergias - Thank you for writing the guide to "The Last Blast". It helped me find one of the targets on
the third level that I was having trouble finding and I was able to get a bronze trophy using your
advanced strategy. Thanks again. (Bronze)

Bystander_11 - Thanks for the awesome guide! Good thing I read it before the first so I had some
practice. (Gold)

Sagnel - Hey, thanks a lot for your guide!^^ It was very useful and it helped me to get a bronze
trophy! =D Initially, i could only get 2300+ score after beating the game and was puzzled how other
people could get even higher score. Now I know the key is all about speed! heh =P (Bronze)

XrayX121 - Hey your guide made me realize how the score system works and made it all so obvious,
what had been the greatest mystery of all time. Now I restart till I get Goo Blaster in level 1 and just
speed through the levels its so easy to get 3000 and beyond on every play now. Thaaanks (Gold)

TheXC - Hey, I was finally able to carry out your Advanced Strategy and it allowed me to score
3000 before all the monsters went to 0, but then the 1 point monsters got really boring so I had to
stop before the game window goes past a possible timer in which your score won't send. =/ (Silver)

Newb0rn - Thanks for such an excellent guide! It helped me out a lot. I was so confused at first why
my points stopped going up it was driving me insane. Also on the third level I had major issues finding
the third eye, it's very easily missed. I ended up getting silver trophy and I'm still going for gold. (Silver)

Parker40 - Hi!Thanks to your guide, I got the bronze trophy on The Last Blast! I want to thank you
for your helpful tips. (Bronze)

Nasa_Guy1990 - Hey man that game guide you made for the last blast... IT REALLY PAID OFF! At
first I thought the best way to get a high score is only using the Bzzt Blaster, but since I saw your guide,
this just made the game a whole lot easier! I got a bronze trophy after a few tries, and now I have a
silver trophy (hopefully) on the way! (Bronze)

Nexusmit - Just saying thanks for such a great guide on The Last Blast. I was able to secure the gold
with it. Now just to find out where to get the equipment for it, just for fun.

Game_Avatar_Hunter - I won gold on the Last Blast, thnx for the awesome guide! Also not just gold,
I am now the third best player OVERALL in neopia.

So far I have encountered several bugs through out this game, just for fun I listed them here. If you
encounter a bug, you can send me a neomail with a description of what happened, so that I may put it
in here, also don't forget to report the bug to the Neopet's staff so that hopefully they will fix it and
make the game more enjoyable for all.

Bug 1 "Assassin Spyder" -
A harmless bug really, this seems to happen when I hit the Escape key and then end game (go
didn't get the gun I wanted on the first run). It just involves a completely motionless spyder popping up
all over the place, sometimes it floats in mid air, sometimes half way inside of a wall, it's indestructible,
and after several seconds it sinks into the ground popping up somewhere else. This bug is often
coupled with Bug 2.

Bug 2 "Don't I need that to breathe?" -
This involves either Health Packs or Oxygen tanks never dropping, it's a bit annoying when you've
been playing for 8 or so minutes and then suddenly realize that your Oxygen is running a bit low. Haha.
When it is the Health Pack that doesn't drop I have tested it extensively to make sure that I wasn't just
plain being unlucky, after about 30 minutes of destroying enemies and no health to be found I am quite
confident it's a bug. Good time to practice with this one though, see how long you can survive. Once
again this seems to only happen when I hit the escape key and then end game. To avoid these two
bugs I just close out of the game completely and restart it afresh, so far now problems on first load.

Bug 3 "Assasin Spyder with a Motive" -
This bug is a huge nuisance, although it does motivate you to move through the game as fast as
possible. =P To best describe it, you will be right in the middle of a game, no enemies in sight, when all
of a sudden an invisible spyder starts to attack you. It will slowly whittle away at your health and you
cannot run from or destroy it as far as I know. Eventually, if it attacks you for too long, it will cause
you to lose the game.

Bug 4 "Secret Elevator to Nowhere" -
This glitch is known to occur in the in hallway in the back of the big gray room where the final boss is
located. Basically you fall through the ground onto the base floor of the game, the level on which every
game is built on. The monsters can still attack you and you can still attack them but you will not be
able to get any items such as oxygen, ammunition, health etc. There is absolutely no way you can
abuse this glitch to get a higher score, and I personally suggest simply exiting the screen if it happens to
you; after you have had your fun of course. (Sent in by Newb0rn)

Bug 5 "Servers are Experiencing Problems" -
The most dreaded of bugs, at least for me, the first time I put up my high score it took me 3 hours, I
got better and better at it and the method as outlined in the Advanced Guide section should take only
25 minutes or so, greatly decreasing your chances of this occurring.
