Curious...

As you walk past the water exhibit on your way through the zoo, something catches your eye. A long line as children lined up along the tank, their faces mashed into the glass, desperate to see more of what they are witnessing.

Curious, you walk over and find yourself a spot amongst the crowd of kids. You stare into the murky water for what seemed like longer than an hour. Frustration roared through your mind. You had seen nothing but the occasional ripple of filthy sea water.

What are these kids staring at?" you muttered to yourself.

Annoyed, you reached into your pocket and pull out a tissue, wiping the glass in front of your eyes. You sighed. Who knows how dirty this glass was? And yet here you had to press your face into it. Hesitantly, you peer into the glass.

It was as if you had looked through a magical telescope. The water was no longer a muddy green but now it shone like crystals hovering above a city submerged into the sand. You breathe in awe as you watch the hundreds of creatures in the water. Some were floating peacefully in the gentle waves while others where half covered by sand, twitching every now and then as if in the middle of a perfect dream. Rapid movement deeper in the corner catches your eye. You looked over to see a group of seal like creatures playing an intense game of what seemed like soccer. Their tails whipped rapidly and their whiskers twitched in anticipation as they chased after the dark circle.

Suddenly, one looks up from the game and meets your gaze. Its eyes flicker and without hesitation, it whipped its tail in one quick movement and before you know it, it was heading at you fast than a bullet. Startled, you close your eyes, expecting the crash to happen any moment. After a moment of silence you open your eyes to see the seal floating upright a few feet away from you. Its eyes shone of amusement and in an instant, it stuck out its tongue and disappeared into a cloud of sand.

Bewildered, you blink and as you open your eyes, the water before you turns once more into nothing but dirt water.

Don't you dare sneak off tonight," growled Serie. Chavore rolled his eyes and glanced out the window at the fading sunlight.

Yes, mother," he snorted. Serie glanced at him with questioning eyes before angrily shutting the door behind her. Chavore sat in silence watching as the moon engulfed the dimming sun before the got up from his seat. He wiggled with tail in excitement. Tonight was the night he could open the door. He would open the gate enclosing the city from the outside. He would finally see what was out there! Just a few nights ago, he had finally stolen the key and today would mark the day of his victorious discovery. But for now…he had to rest…

The moon glistened in the shadow of the night as Chavore swiftly made his way across the town. The key hung loosely around his neck, glistening even in the darkness. As he reached the subsided alley of the town's abandoned neighbourhood, he dove deeper until he was gliding along the bottom of the sea floor, the fur on his belly scraping the grains of sand. Broken doors creaked against the wind as smashed windows clung onto their houses.

Just ahead, he could make out the small gap between a torn down wall and an abandoned house. He slowed down, his heart racing as he squeezed him self through. He could feel the rough edges of the wall scraping along his fur as he wiggled. Using his flippers, he finally managed to heave himself through.

Beyond the rusted town, stood a grand golden arch holding some of the city's greatest carvings. Elegant weeds dancing in the waves at the foot of the arch, their leaves reflecting off a spectrum of colors. A few marble cut steps followed behind, leading to a massive white door. The door was covered with layers of transparency, making it difficult to define certain areas such as the lock. Chavore's heart sped up as he glided his flipper over the fine outline of the key around his neck.

What would be behind the door? Outside the safety of town's shield, what dangers lay in the beyond?

Breathing in breathes of courage, he slowly glided through the gates, and made his way to the door. He looked around. Strange…there seemed to be no guards. With caution he reached under his chin and drew the key out in front of him. With shaking flippers, he listened for the click of the lock. As soon as he heard it, the lock opened like a mouth and swallowed the key from his hand. He leapt back in surprise and watched as the old gate slowly swung open. It was too dark to see anything past the opening. Chavore tiptoed forward and peered around the edge. The world was pitch black. He saw no sign of life, not even the calming sight of sand below was visible in the dark.

I can do this!" he murmured to himself.

With a fast flick of his flipper he launched himself out through the door.

Hello There!

It's me Vore! Welcome~!!
