You are playing as Royesse Charys

You're shivering on the luxurious bed that you are chained to. The window has only bars, no glass and this planet's nights are cold. The chill does not bother you; you have grown so numb you can hardly feel it. You feel tired, but your eyes refuse to close. The memories of the recent days appear out of the blue as you slip into unconsciousness. They wake you and you sit up, afraid, only to remember again and stare, haunted, at the icy moon.

Think about...Kara. Kara. Kara...by the Eight, I miss you!
Your whisper feels loud in the utter silence. You stare out of the window, wondering if all those books on psychology that you've read are true, and that social isolation truly is detrimental to one's health. You can feel the loneliness edging away at you, the feeling that there is nobody in this world...you have been forgotten by everyone, for years and years. As you whisper again, you feel how rusty your voice has gotten...how long ago was it that you really, truly spoke to someone? You take a glance at the napkin upon which you have marked each day - it is nearly full and tattered on the corners. Around a year's worth of tallies are marked on it. And underneath it lie eight more, very similar napkins, all filled with tallies.
Really, eight years...eight years since I saw Kara. Since...the escape. Since I was put here. What was I thinking...? No, no, I shouldn't think like that. I did the right thing. Kara is safe. She'll grow up and do right and become Royesse...Royesse Akaracia...some day. And that is worth all this, always...
...I just have to remember it.
You remember the old castle at sunset, the place where Kara will learn to become a good Royesse...the place where you were raised, as well. It hurts that you don't know what sort of girl Kara is now. She was so young when your plan freed her, only four years old...the age-old worry of "does she remember me?" echoes in your head once more. Though you trust the man who helped you save her...he is not Acaran. Even now, the old sense of dislike stirs deep within you, even as you remind yourself that different species are no better and no worse than your own. Old habits die hard.
