This story is written in the point of view of Ciel, Luna's Starry Feepit.
Now who hasn't heard of the man on the moon? No one, of course, but did you ever consider the fact that the man on the moon was just a myth -- a lie? It is, and I'm here to tell you the truth. The entire truth.
Many of the humans that live on Earth believe that the face of the moon that they see is a man, but in truth, the real face of the moon is a gnorbu. Yes, a gnorbu, and mind you, I do not lie.
The spirit of the moon, as they say, does not take the form of a human, nor does it take the form of a glowing ball of doom or anything of the sort -- not at all. The spirit of the moon is in fact that very gnorbu whose face is imprinted on the surface of the moon -- a gnorbu named Celeluna.
That Celeluna has lived on the moon for many centuries, as well as many years to come, and it is always at this time when people turn away, vexed as to how a gnorbu came to live on the moon, but I shall tell you anyway -- you seem like someone intelligent enough to understand.
She wasn't the prettiest of her family, and when she was old enough, she didn't coat herself with many dyes to make her look bright and flashy like her three other sisters, and the only thing she ever did was act like the child she still acts like today. Luna is a child at heart, and that is why the moon chose her. She wasn't specially smart, nor was she one to ever always be serious -- the moon loved that about her. She was not perfect, yet she was.
No one knew at all that the moon was dying, and no one had the slightest inkling as to who the moon had chosen to succeed her after she died. No one. Not even the gods themselves. The Goddess of the Moon kept it a secret from everyone -- to choose a mortal as a successor to become one of the gods was highly thought down to, and by all means, the goddess would do anything to have that gnorbu success her.
It may seem strange, I know, but it is the truth. The Goddess of the Moon chose a mortal to success her, and not a perfect one at that. She told not a soul. Not one until the day of her passing, and on that gloomy day, it can be said that Celeluna, herself, lost her beloved family of her mother, father, and three sisters... but I guess it was for the best.
Celeluna had come to mope, something she rarely did, under a large oak tree as the enormous red moon began rising into the sky -- that was when she first met the Goddess of the Moon... and became one herself. She watched, watched as the moon rise to its zenith before it shrunk into a tiny blue ball -- me. As I fell to the ground, the once-cheerful gnorbu came to catch me. She, who caught me, immediately took her new form as the moon, and I was to keep her company for the while that she was alive to brighten the night sky.
I, Ciel, am the incarnation of the past Goddess of the Moon, and it is because of me that my dear Luna has lived after these many centuries. She couldn't do it alone. Couldn't -- that's why I was created. And as I said before, this is the entire truth.
To be honest, I do not believe it was my best work ever as I was trying out a new writing style. Basically, the story is the Legend of the Llama on the Moon -- a common legend now told by the elders of Earth to entertain the children of their respective tribes, but alas, it is only they that believe the story now.
Celeluna, a cheerful young gnorbu of twelve, loses her family one mysterious night and finds that the moon is a deep red, and it begins to shrink rapidly as it reaches its zenith. As the moon shrank, Ciel, Luna's starry feepit, began to form, and the last spell of which the Goddess of the Moon cast before passing was that of this: when the moon reaches its zenith, it will shrink and become a small, furry creature of the stars; it will retain the memory of all of the past Goddesses of the Moon, and it will be the new goddess's mentor in teaching the new moon the many secrets that have been kept throughout these past generations of moon goddesses.
Luna, having a natural characteristic of being curious, instinctively came to catch the falling blue ball of the sky -- that was exactly how the last goddess planned it to be -- and as she caught the creature, she became the moon herself.
The creature, Ciel, was the one to explain everything that was going on to the confused gnorbu, and though she was reluctant at first, Celeluna acquiesced to accept the fact that she had become the moon. She quickly adapted to its environment, and before long, she had regained all of her lost spirits, and with her new friend, Ciel, they live happily on the moon, awaiting for the day that their duties will be passed on as well.

Finally as you take a step to leave the moon, you hear a cheerful voice behind you saying, You made it to the final section?! You must be extremely lucky... or something~! But just as you manage to turn your head to see who was speaking, you find no one there -- not even the cheerful gnorbu and her feepit. You stand there, wondering for a moment, but then shrug off the idea that both pets disappeared into thin air -- or turned invisible.
I hope you come back soon... comes a familiar voice in your mind.
