Kousa's Application
Introduction
Hello, my name is Kris and I've been playing neopets for about nine and a half years. When I first stumbled across Kousa I was thrilled because (one) I absolutely love Alien Aishas yet haven't been lucky enough to get the fateful lab zap and (two) I was sure I could make the application process fun by doing what I love. I did try to keep the application as simple as possible while still allowing it to show my desire to make Kousa a part of the family. I had alot of fun designing her character. I've had something brewing in the back of my mind for awhile now; nothing concrete, yet is was enough to help this page come to life. The best way I was able to accurately represent her character design was though writing and artwork, so I utilized both in the application. Thank you so much for the opportunity and taking the time to read through everything. I look forward to hearing your decision, no matter the result.Biography & info

Story
(Any quotes at the beginning/end of a paragraph disappeared into html limbo. It does make it difficult to distinguish speakers, sorry about that, I really don't know how to fix the problem.)Why are heating ducts always built as the most puzzling, confounding mazes? Certainly the layout of this space station isn't so vast that it called for such a widespread arrangement of twists and turns.
Ah, the seventeenth right turn, finally. I unlatched the panel below me and slipped into the room; quiet, deserted. Just as expected.
The room did not appear on the schematics, but that was natural. No one would wish to announce the location of their storage for precious artifacts. Best keep it hidden, lest a thief like me stumble upon it.
That did not, however, mean it was unguarded. Right on cue, the sweet sound of the surprised grunts of guards rang through the air. They stationed them on the inside, clever. I listened. Two of them. Both stationed at the northeast corner. The room is massive and crammed full of crates so they haven't spotted me yet. Yet I was absolutely silent on entry; there must be a floor sensor.
Eh, Mickey? Seems we got a live one." He had a clear, deep voice that still seemed to be tinged with surprise at the fact that there was an intruder.
Yep, sure haven't had any action over here in a long time. Let's hope this snake at least makes it interesting," the second one chuckled. His voice was quiet yet rough like sandpaper.
Southeast corner, fifth stack from the right, third box. I heard rapid footsteps approach my location. Floor sensors. No use hiding, they'll find me.
I sprang from my position beneath the vent, completing a tuck roll and drawing my blaster simultaneously. Silence. Wait. Then there was the slight, faint clink of snap, much like that on a holster.
The guard fluidly stepped from behind a crate and fired. Too bad for him I had ducked far ahead of time and was weaving my way up the aisle toward him. Zppt. Zzzzzzppt-zppt. Blast after blast he fired. His aim was impeccable; had I been half a second slower I would have lost my left arm.
He grunted then, but it wasn't filled with disappointment as I expected it would be. It was almost… satisfied. Come to think about it, where is guard number two?
Above!
I vaulted to my right as a crackle of electricity very nearly singed the fur on the back of my head. The rustle of wings… loud, too, so he must be a heavy flying-type, likely a Skeith. And that blast certainly did not come from a handheld blaster. Judging by the frequency and power… it must be an Infaltrec 3.0. I sighed inwardly. They're well prepared. In that case, time to end this.Gah, Mick, I can't believe you missed her! What, is your aim slipping?
Mick scoffled. "Shut up Jaz. She's just feisty, but that ain't nothin' we can't fix. Oh, just hold on," he chuckled as I drew my blaster. The entire room had gone still, like the calm before a storm. "This little kitten thinks she's though, eh? Hey, little miss," he addressed me in a mocking tone. "I must ask, why in the world are you wearing that silly pair of glasses? Sunglasses aren't for indoors, you know." He was greeted with silence. "Either way, I'd suggest a lady like yourself hurry on outta here, but, in all honesty, I want to destroy you myself.
I didn't allow him to continue with his tirade of words because at that moment, as he prepared to look over at his partner, he made the mistake of taking his eyes off of me. I aimed my weapon and shot all within a sixth of a second. My aim was not for his chest, however; he seemed quite surprised by that fact. My aim was for the ceiling.
The electromagnetic pulse radiated upward in a supersonic screech. Then I heard the satisfying hum as the generator powering the lights shut down. I silently slipped into the shadows towards the southeast corner.
Mick grumbled something along the lines of "pitch black, can't see a Glowing Korbat right in front of your face" as I heard the click of his blaster as he pulled the trigger. Nothing happened, as expected.
What?! This here blaster ain't working! And the sensors aren't getting a reading either! Hey, Jaz!
Electro-magnetic pulse," Jaz whispered. "Electronics don't work anymore. Not only that, but we can't see a-
The gratifying smack of my boot on Jaz's face rang throughout the room. Unnecessary violence, but oh so rewarding. I stabbed him with a tranquillizer dart.
Eh, Jaz?" His voice was brimming with both anger and fear. "What, did you trip?
I threw a second dart but Mick turned at the last moment so it only grazed his skin. He wouldn't go down right away, but it was enough.
Wha- hey, Jaz…" he cried as he crumpled to his knees. "How did ya… see us… in… the dark…" he slurred and collapsed. With the item in hand I walked past the silent figure and climbed back into the heating duct. Mission complete. Best be on my way before reinforcements investigate the power outage.
I smiled at the guard's last words. Of course they wouldn't understand. They didn't see beneath the sunglasses I wore, didn't see my eyes. My blind, useless eyes.
Artwork

Drawing completed in MS paint. I imagined something more 'serious' but honestly, I can't draw anthro, so think of this as Kousa as a child, before her outlook of the world became so dark.
