Neopets Account Building


What is account building on Neopets? That's a really good question, but the answer isn't very easy. Account building is basically improving your Neopets account in a variety of ways, including painting and customising pets, collecting avatars, stamps, and collectible cards, earning trophies, or even making pet lookups and user lookups. It's basically taking your plain, basic account and making it look incredible, really. How does one begin?

You might think painting a pet might be a good way to begin, and maybe it is, but account building shouldn't be based on one area alone. Doing bits here and there are actually great ways to build up your account, and not get bored in doing so! When you signed up on Neopets, you obviously created a pet and received a few items in a newbie pack. One item you should have received was a book. Reading books to your pet counts toward account building, for certain! Over time, as your pet reads books, his intelligence increases, and he will eventually qualify for a book trophy, if he's read books enough! Reading to your pets is one example of account building. There are many others, however.

Collecting avatars is another really great example of account building. Some avatars are easier to obtain than others. Some avatars are available during a seasonal event, or are released as a final prize following a site plot or gaming event. In certain cases, these avatars are a one-time release, retired after being awarded, never to be offered again, so getting these avatars is a rather good idea. Other avatars are seasonal, released at certain times of the year. Then you have other avatars you win from playing certain site games and gaining a specific score, and avatars you can win from various site contests. Oftentimes, these avatars are also awarded with corresponding trophies, making them even more worthwhile.

Along similar lines, winning trophies is a great example of account building. Trophies can say alot about your dedication to the site, which goes along with the purposes of account building. Did you know there are people on Neo who look at other people's accounts, particularly in the cases of item lending or adopting out nice pets? A really good reason for account building is to show other people that you're dedicated to your personal account, have goals, and hope to achieve them. Account building is an encouraging factor that other people like to see, particularly in choosing a new owner for a pet they plan to adopt out, or in lending out rarer items worth a good amount of NP. Such is the reason why account building guilds such as this one are out there, and it's why this guide is being written, as well.
