Note: This is under construction. Bear with us.
Hear the birds sing in the night,
Calling out their sweetened airs,
Hear wolf cry her soft lament,
The night grows dark as her heart tears.
Hark, my lady, hear those songs!
Don't they move your ice-cold heart?
Your eyes are bright as sunlight's kiss,
But they fade in the mirror when day departs.

My Story
I do not remember the day I was born. Few do- but I have stories and pictures, memories of how the Queen of the Dusklands held her perfect baby girl in her arms, exhausted, but still regal, jaded and beautiful. It was a perfect time among my people. The King had an heir, the harvest had just come in, and there was enough wine to go around. So they danced and drank and sang, the merriest fey that would ever exist in the Duskland Realms.
From the moment I was born, I was different. I was beautiful, even as a squirming child- or so I'm told, and even as I cried, there was an unmistakably royal aura about me. I held my head high, I curtsies in a perfect dip, and my dancing was the most charming show of grace you could ever see. I know now that I grew up spoilt, told I was the most beautiful of princesses day by day. I am not ashamed.
The day everything changed seems now so long ago. I was tired, my eyelids longing to drop as I brushed my hair, gazing into my vanity mirror. There had been babies to bless, events to attend, suitors to meet. But sleep was denied me, for a loud rap on my door shook me from my reverie. The guard knocking averted his eyes when I bid him come in- my shift was thin, and I had been expecting my nurse. But he brought me to my father, who held my mother's slender hand in his, his eyes closed in pain.
What I learned that night would change the rest of my life. I thought I would grow up, marry some dashing prince, and rule the Dusklands by his side. But the Daylight Lands had united (for both the Night Lands and the Daylight Lands had previously been composed of small countries, generally peaceful with mild squabbles over land and money), and they were attacking our own
Dusklands, with forces far beyond those that we could squander in such short notice. It was then that I realized that it was all over. I was right.
The next few months passed too fast for me. At fifteen and a half, I was torn from my pedestal, thrown to the ground and crushed by the feet of a thousand men. I was only right to fear for my own life- and so I fled, with only Ender, my favorite hound at my side. I have disappeared for now, but one day I shall have my revenge.

And now- I, Cayinna Delanuit, ...ex...Princess of the Dusklands, would like to thank you for taking the time from your life to look at the humble page of a once-great being. If you would care to talk with me, do talk first to Estelle, for she, believe it or not, actually enjoys visitors. But fare thee well for now, and good night.
