So you are interested in becoming an Earthtonian? Earth Tones is a neo related guild. We strive to be unique, yet still commonly neo related. Earth Tones is simply a place for our members to come relax, forget about the world, and keep themselves occupied with all we have to offer. As we grow we hope to develop friendships, knowledge, and much more. We try to offer a variety of things to do in our guild so members will always have fun, but not so much stuff that members are not able to fully relax. Please be sure to go through all of our pages and read all about our guild.
Feel free to ask our council any questions or concerns you may have, but please make sure you read all of our pages first in case your question or concern has already been answered.
We also do understand that some of you use internet browsers that do not support some layouts. Our guild and every other layout is designed specificaly for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome. Some of our layouts may work in other browsers, but we cannot guarantee this. We just thought we should let you know to avoid you the trouble. :)

We have received many applications with people staying that they are a nature lover and that is why they would like to join. Though we are known as Earth Tones please do not be confused that we are strictly about the earth. You don't have to be a nature lover in order to join, though nature lovers are always welcome! :) We are simply a neopets related guild, with nature in mind.
Earth Tones was first created by Chaquita, who considers herself a "nature freak" because of her love of the earth. But, even though she created the title with the earth in mind, she did not intend of having a nature guild, but rather a neopets related guild. We are all neopets users so why not join a guild with something well have in common?
Earth Tones is intended for other earthtonians to come chat and forget about the real world. We include many events and activities to have fun at the same time.
We have also noticed many guilds that come and go all the time, never lasting long. Why you may ask? Possibly the leader has gotten bored of their guild and wants to create a new one, leaving all their old members behind. This is an issue we want to avoid. We plan on being around for a long time, so there are no worries of you having to find yourself a new guild because we closed down. We assure you that will not happen! Even if something should happen to the owner, Chaquita, and she is unable to attend to the guild anymore (which should never happen!), the duties of the leadership will passed onto the next member of council who is relaible, active, and knows well how to run the guild. Therefore, what reason is there to close down Earth Tones?
Earth Tones was once a public guild, but as we rapidly grew we became too active. A guild that is too active makes it difficult for other members to get a word in on the message boards, and also stresses out the council. Thus, once we decided we had reached enough members we thought it would be convenient to become private.
Another reason for going private is to keep a certain type of class in our guild. We are semi-literate thus only semi-literate and up may join. This means that proper grammer, spelling, and no chatspeak is preffered. We also ask that if you are not accepted for your literacy to please not be upset! If everyone and anyone could join, what would be the point of being private? :)
Thank you for taking an interest in being a bigger part of Earth Tones. Before you begin going crazy about the open council and praying for a council spot I would like to clear a few things up. I do not know who im choosing yet at the moment, or when I will be. I love all you guys, you are great :) But I do not want any hurt feelings if someone is not chosen and I would like to be 100% that I chose the right council. And because of that, I may only choose one or two people at a time. Please be paitent with my decisions, they need to be for sure. I dont want to have to take council members off again, I hate doing that, makes me feel terrible. Besides this guild is here to make friends and have fun, not just to be high up on council. No one is high up, we are all equal, so please remember that. You are all equally important to me as any council memeber :P
I will of course still accept your application. Do not worry about which position you apply for as I will not choose based on the position your application is for, but what position you are actually best suited for. Also, please do not neomail me with your application, you may apply at the guild itself when you click on "apply for position" on the empty council list. And please do not neomail me telling me that you applied, I check them. :)
Here a few basics I look for in a council member. Coucnil members should be reliable so that they will not randomly leave or become completely unactive out of no where (this has happened before). No council member is expected to be on every single day (we all have lives), but they should be often to show their dedication and that they are there to help out with thier council responsibilities. Donating 234204234np will not get you into council, I always greatly accept your donations as it helps the guild to run PB auctions and other fun events, but I do not choose based on how rich you are. I find it rather unfair to bribe me :P But still feel free to donate! :D
Please, PLEASE! do not bug me about when I am going to choose or who. I will when I am ready. I do not want any conflicts to begin or any sore feelings. Again, I love all of you and I hope you enjoy being in the guild as it is. :) Anyways, thank you very much for taking the time to read this. It is greatfully appreciated.
With every guild there are rules, which need to be obey in order for the guild to stay successful and for the members to be happy. Of course if any rules are disobeyed there are penalties, which are listed below. Penalties do seem harsh, but the rules are quite easy to obey and keeps everyone happy. :)
once you will receive a warning, everyone makes mistakes.
twice you will be suspended from the guild for a short period of time.
three times you will be deleted from the guild.
four times you will unfortunatly be blocked.
1. Treat other members with respect. If anyone says something you do not agree with please do not argue as it begins a fight, which is not needed. Debates in a conversation are perfectly alright as long as there are no harmful accusations or insults. Only friendly debates allowed.
2. No spamming as it clogs the message boards with uneeded posts. This also makes it difficult to keep up with conversations, which no one likes :P. Also, please keep posts at least 2 sentences.
3. No swearing, insults, or rude remarks. We don't want any hurt or angry feelings in Earth Tones. This is suppose to be a happy guild. :) If you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all.
4. Don't act like you are better than anyone else because of age, neopet, neopoints, etc. Everyone is equal and always will be.
5. If anything is bothering you don't be afraid to neomail Chaquita or any council members. This is not a rule that you will receive penalties for as we cannot force you to tell us everything that is bothering you, but just letting you know that we're here to help :)
2. For the Event/PB auctions you are only able to win one item, so if you win more than one please return the others. They will then be given to those who did not win.
3. Any auctions are for active members only.
4.Do not worry, there will always be 1np auctions :)
Our guild does monthly member sweeps to eliminate members who no longer seem interested in us. To be fair, however, we do give out warnings a while before deleting a member to let them know. If they still do not respond to the neomail or do not become active a month after their warning they are then deleted. Once deleted they will still receive a neomail stating why they have been deleted and that if interested they may refill another application form out to rejoin the guild. Refilling out the application form, though, does not gurantee reacceptance. You will receive a polite warning if you have been inactive for 1 month. You will then be deleted if you do not become active after the warning and are inactive for a total of 2 months. We beleive that it is only fair to warn someone before deleting them, since we understand some people have busy lives or important situations going on.
Teams are a great way of having fun in any guild. Since prizes are not allowed we give out pounts instead. When you join Earth Tones one of the first things you should do is choose a team! Once in a team you can earn points by participating in activities, events, and donating (which of course is optional). Every so often the team with the most outstanding points gets special opportunities.
Each team has its own leader as well. They create their own team page with activites and whatever they like to provide just for their team. (:

Thoughts on the Guild: My name is Benjamin, I am an Earth-Tonesaholic, and this is my story: I was on my mission. I NEEDED TO FIND THE GREATEST GUILD EVER! So, I took to the neoboards. I was like "Sup, I'm Ben. I need a good guild." I didn't list a bunch of silly prerequisites, or a certain word and a jumble of numbers they needed to post at the beginning of their post. In my opinion, it's stupid to make someone jump through hoops just so you join their guild. That was the first thing I liked about Earth Tones. They didn't kiss up to me. They didn't beg me to join. In fact, all little miss _chaquita did was post the ad, and said "If you have any questions, just let me know." Let the truth be told, she didn't NEED to beg me to join her guild. She didn't need to bribe me with free items, neopoints, or a special spot on council. I knew from the moment I clicked the link that it was the guild for me. The page was so organized, I was able to find any information I wanted on the guild. I continued looking at all of the pages, and went to apply. This application wasn't as tedious as the applications I've seen in the past. This was another favorite thing about the guild. Simplicity. And they were interested in quality, not quantity. Numbers meant nothing. They wanted good people, and good people only. Even if it meant 3 members, if they were good members they would be happy. Earth Tones has a lot to offer. Every one of our active members will tell you this. Everyone is so nice, every member has a great personality, and is easy to get along with. If you're looking for the perfect guild, you've found it.
