And I love to paint them and adopt them. I don't collect anything. Oh, but I might start RPing, and as soon as I figure my scanner out, I'll enter the BC.

This is Noelle's Petpage Guide for Newbies!

If you have just started neopets, and don't have a clue what to do, (Don't worry, we have all been there!) this is the perfect guide for you!

Creating/Adopting a Pet

First of all, if you have activated your account, you need to create a pet. There are pets that say "Limited Edition" or "restricted." These pets cannot be adopted. BUT, you can adopt limited edition pets on their days. So say you want a chomby, you have to wait until chomby day when they release a couple thousand chombies into Neopia.

If you want a great name, look at my strawberry pet's look up (when you click on the pet) and click on Trementine's Treasures.

Then, there is also the pound where you can adopt a pet (that someone disowned) for a cheap price. There are all kinds of pets in the pound, including restricted, limited edition and painted. You can also apply for a pet on the Neoboards or apply for a pet in someone's adoption agency. Painted pet have been painted by, obviously, a paint brush. Paint brushes range from 40k (k=thousand) to a few million neopoints. You can buy paintbrushes from the Hidden Tower in Faerieland, the trading post or someone's shop (all of those places will be explained in a minute). You are probably thinking, "How am I supposed to get enough neopoints to do any of this?" Well, just keep reading. :)

How to Earn Lotsa Neopoints

To earn neopoints, you can:
A)Play games
B)Use a guide
C)Use a shop
D)Trade items for money at the TP (trading post)
E)RS (restock)
F)Enter in the BC (beauty contest)

See? The possibilities are endless! In my opinion, the fastest and easiest way to earn lotsa neopoints is to use a guide. I will give you a link later. All you do is follow the instructions on the page (they all say to click a link a certain amount of times for neopoints). Oh, and definitely KEEP A SAVINGS ACCOUNT! Put all of your neopoints in it so that it cannot be random evented away (Ghosts, Bug Brothers, etc.). You will earn interest daily, but you must make sure that you go to the bank daily to collect it.
Okay, moving on to my favorite parts, etiquette and how NOT to be a n00b.

Etiquette (mainly on the neoBoards)and How Not to be a N00b.

Okay, now. For starters, let's define the word n00b.

n00b: n. or -ish adj. 1. An extremely annoying and ignorant Neopian
2. A Neopian with a lack of common sense and integrity.
3. A Neopian who spams tastelessly.
4. A Neopian who begs, whines or is otherwise incapable of controlling his/her immaturity.
5. A Neopian who cannot speak in comprehendible sentences.

In other words, being called a n00b is NOT a compliment. In order to gain respect, I suggest that you do these things:

1. Use correct spelling, punctuation, grammar and capitals so that everyone can understand what you are getting at.

2. Speak with respect towards everyone. If someone is rude to you either ignore them or give them a witty, tasteful (but not rude) comeback.

3. This is an extremely silly one, but people usually associate default fonts and avatars (avvie is avatar for short) with newbs/n00bs on the boards. (Default means the font and avatar that is already set up) So change them. It is not so hard, there are some instructions on the top of the box where you enter the coding html for font (go to boards, board preferences.). To change your avvie, you also go to board prefs. When you sign up, you automatically are given a few avvies. Google for an avvie guide to get others. Ofr example, my avvie is a tyrannian jubjub. All you have to do to get that avatar is to view the lookup of a tyrannian jubjub (If you want the avvie, view Gudrianta's lookie).

4. Do not, ever, under any circumstances, beg. Begging is a sure way to get flamed. People can get very sensitive about the fact that they worked for their pets, so you should work for yours. I completely agree. I have told you how to earn neopoints, so start there.

5. Another silly one. Make sure that your lookie is not (here comes another vocabulary word) default. Check out one of the following sites for pre-made lookups: i-petz .com, neopound .com, etc. Just copy and paste the coding into the box under boards, then user preferences.

6. Yet another silly one! Don't name your pet something like: 12498miley__cyrus_x0_rocks1947_xo. In simpler terms, try to avoid underscores (these: _), numbers, extra x's, extra O's. Try using the naming guide on ImACuteSparklyJubJUB's lookie (the pink box that says Trementine's treasures). A good name would be like: Myachelle, Gudrianta, Amarinne or Tzarianne. Names that are capitalized, names that are readable.

7. Tell the truth! Trust me, there is nothing like lying and then being discovered online_ people will post your name all over the place.

8. One of my favorite ones! Be trusting. Just because you can't see what the person's reaction on the other side of the screen is after you've called them something like spammer, doesn't mean that it was okay and they didn't care. If someone says they are pounding a mutant draik and they are a week old, with no game scores, and they won't give you the name of the draik and you don't see it on their account, then you can mistrust them. But if someone is pounding a purple xweetok, and you can see it, there is no reason to yell at them for scamming.

9. Don't give out your personal information. This includes: Age, REAL name, where you live (specifics, saying that you live in the USA or UK is fine), what school you go to, your address, or email address, etc. This is just for YOUR personal safety. See isafe .com for more information. For example, my neopets name is Noelle, as you can see. You'll never guess my real name! ^_^

10. Don't be stupid. That means: Don't give out your PIN or secret word! If someone, for example, neomailed you saying that they would give you something for your PIN and secret word. Or if they said that if you type your secret word backwards, it will come out in hearts. DON'T DO IT! That is what we call a scam. Read on to find out more about scamming. xD

Scams and Spams

Okay, a scam is a ruse to get YOU to give out your secret word and/or PIN, as we said before. If someone asks you for either of these things, I have two words: REPORT and BLOCK. Reporting (look up theneopetsteam and click contact us to report) will warn and/or freeze a user who has broken a neorule (search Neorules).

Spamming. Spamming is especially existent on the HC (help chat or help board). Spamming is defined (in the Noelle dictionary) as unnecessary, not neo-related posts, topics or boards. A spam can be something like, oh, say there was a topic in the help board that said something like, "I have a banana in my ear. GET IT OUT!" That would be spamming. DON'T DO IT. Yes, there are some spammers that become famous for their TASTEFUL spamming. Such as Sass, Cammie, Gee, Nadine, Cherry and of course, Balet. But, few can achieve that tasteful spamming that leads to cyber-fame. They all think that they need to be crude or crass or just plain stupid to get people to laugh. In the truth, they don't really need to do that. But enough of educating you in spam. If you hang around the (here comes a vocab word!) HC, you will find out more than you wanted to know about spamming.
