General Questions

Q: What's this CAU I keep hearing about?
A: CAU stands for Crazy Artists United, a large, friendly art guild on Neopets. It's a great community for artists of all kinds, and you're totally going to join it. :P

Q: Do I have to be a good artist to join?
A: Not at all! CAU is for artists and art-lovers alike. Plus, if you don't think your artwork is up to snuff, join anyway! One of CAU's goals is to help artists improve, so everyone will be eager to give you any advice you want/need. ^^ Also, CAU isn't just for traditional visual art, but for artists of all kinds, including writers, photographers, poets, or even musicians. So all are welcome!

Q: How do I join the guild?
A: Lucky for you, CAU is completely public and all you have to do to join is go to the homepage and click the "Join Guild" link. CAU is one of very few large, successful art guilds that is like this, so feel special!

Q: I just joined. What do I do first?
A: Great! Let me just say, welcome to CAU! ^^ Take some time to explore the guild pages and the various blogs on the homepage. Get a feel for how the guild is set up, and post on the messageboards. Everyone is dying to meet you!

Q: I don't know anyone! ;_;
A: Don't let that worry you! All you have to do is post a quick introduction of yourself on the messageboards. Tell us what you'd like to be called, what your interests are, whatever you feel like telling us. You're guaranteed to get several posts back from council, subcouncil, or other active members, introducing themselves. Pretty soon, you'll know everyone! ^^

Q: What is there for me to do in CAU?
A: Aside from chatting with other members on the messageboards, CAU has all sorts of activities and minigames going on all the time. For more information about those, refer to the Activities Section of the FAQs. C:

Q: Pyro is awesome? Ciran is kick-butt? Koryo is teh love? Raylin is fabulous? Star is…STELLAR?!
A: Yes. C:

Activities Questions

Q: What activities can I participate in in CAU?
A: Whew. Well, there's a long list. The CAU Times and the CAU BC are always going on, looking for submissions from anyone and everyone. Also, at various times there will be activities and minigames going on such as Art Swaps, Writing Events, Food Fight Festivals, Write-Offs, CAU Parties on the BC boards, and anything else you can imagine! Everyone is free to participate in all of these events. ^^

Q: How do I enter the CAU BC, CAU Times, etc.?
A: To enter the CAU BC or CAU Times, you just need to prepare a submission and send it to the subcouncil who run those two activities. JJ runs the CAU Times, and you can find the Times page here. The CAU BC is run by Topaz and the BC page is here. Topaz also runs the minigames, so you can talk to her about those. Additionally, the guild activities coordinator is Raylin.

Q: Where do I found out more about the various activities?
A: For the CAU BC and CAU Times, you can send a neomail to either JJ or Topaz, or visit the pages for each activity. For convenience, the links to the CAU BC and CAU Times pages are on every guild page, in the sidebar. For any other activity, you can neomail Raylin or Topaz, or look for updates about the activity on the guild homepage.

Q: I have a great idea for a guild activity. What should I do?
A: Send a neomail to either Raylin or Topaz and tell them about it. If you neomail Raylin and don't get an answer back within a few days, try Topaz, and vice versa. Or just send a neomail to both. ^^

Q: What if I'm not good at art? Can I still participate?
A: Of course! Only some of the activities require artistic ability, and even those are open to anyone to enter. Don't be afraid to try new things or challenge yourself! Guildmembers are always available for help or advice. ^^

Q: What about us writers?
A: I sympathize. For writers, there are the Writing Events and Write-Offs, and the CAU Times is always open to writing submissions like poems, short stories, or series'. However, if you want more (like me), send a neomail to Topaz. Tell her Maught sent you and you support the idea of a writing group in CAU!

Mascot Questions

Q: Does CAU have a mascot?
A: Yes, actually. CAU's mascot is a shapeshifter by the name of Prism, who is white with a black belly and rainbow markings on her back. She can be any species of neopet, quad or anthro, and her exact markings are whatever the artist wants them to be. ^^

Q: Can I draw pretty pictures for her?
A: Please do! Prism loves fanart. ^^ Also, feel free to write stories or poems for her also! She loves any kind of gift.

Q: I made something for Prism. What do I do with it?
A: Put it on a petpage or lookup somewhere and Maught will save it and host it on Prism's petpage, coming soon. 83 Then all of Prism's lovely collection will be in place for everyone to see.

Q: Prism is awesome! Where can I find out more about her?
A: On her petpage, of course! It's still in the works, but as soon as its up and running, all of her fanart, etc. will be there to view, and all the info we have about her will be there as well.

Q: Why is Prism a shapeshifter? Why doesn't she just have a permanent design like other mascots?
A: Prism is a shapeshifter so that anyone and everyone can draw her with ease. The purpose of a mascot is that every single member in the guild will be able to draw/write about her comfortably and easily, without getting frustrated because they just can't draw a certain species of pet! Thus, she is infinitely flexible. ^^

Q: I hate Prism. We need a new mascot.
A: D8 Sacrilege! Grab your torches and pitchforks, everyone!
