The Depths
The ocean is dark at these depths. The sun barely penetrates through the fathoms. You can see the faint shadow of the ocean floor, and you begin to wonder why you're here in the first place. As you continue forward, a shining lgiht begins to come into view. It glimmers with blue-green light, and you realize you are coming upon the fabled city of Maraqua. As you marvel at the beauty of the legendary city, a figure swims toward you, fully cloaked in maractite armor and mail, a spear in hand. As the figure comes up to you, you can make out the shape of a female peophin, dark green skin, and cream-colored hair tied back. Her look is hard, either with fear....or fury. "What are you doing here human? These waters are not for those who do not know them." Her countenance softens. "There are dangers down here....but I suppose that's what I'm for." She holds out her hand. "Brandy, Soldier of Maraqua." She looks up toward the sky, than back to you. "Follow me" She turns and swims toward the gleaming city, making no sound, even in the silence of the deep. A couple minutes later, you enter the gates of Maraqua. You are barely inside whe she makes a sharp turn and stops at a row of golden lockers. With a couple punches on a keypad, one silently slides open. Reaching behind her, she unsnaps her chest armor, pacing it on a hook in the locker. Next she slides off her chain mail, carefully folding it and placing it on the locker's shelf. She then slips off her helm, laying it on the mail. She bends down to a lower shelf and picks up a faux maractite face plate, placing it on her forhead. She picks up a leather strap tied to a dagger and slips it over her head, letting it rest on her shoulders. Lastly, she unties her hair, placing its leather strap with the rest of her armor. She presses a button and the locker slides shut. "So. Now that my shift is over, and we're safe inside The City, I shall tell you a bit about myself."

The Aisha Sisters
You see much as a soldier for Maraqua. In fact, I was on the expedition that discovered the Aisha sisters, Caylis and Isca.
I was assigned to guard Caylis (in shifts of course)when she started having her nightmares. I felt so sorry for the poor girl; I still do. I have to convince myself that banishing her was best for New Maraqua, but it's hard; she was so young...
Mark of Rank
You are probably wondering about the marking on my tail, right? It is a mark of my rank in the Maraquan Army. The mark starts as a plain circle, but gets more intricate the higher you go. As you can see, I'm fairly new, but I've been around the block once or twice.
Maractite
I thought maybe I'd tell you a little about the metal Maractite, that most Maraquan weapons are made of. 'Made from one of the rarest materials under the sea, and empowered with runes, its magic was mighty indeed.' Very true. The benefit of Maractite, is that it moves (and allows you to move) as fast underwater as on land. Quite amazing really. Te one drawback is that this miraculous metal decays when exposed to air. That is why my dagger and faceplate are made of faux Maractite.
My family is very dear to me, though often I am on duty, and only home for short periods of time.

This is Granchio. He's a little hermit crab I was given near Alohuaki's home. He lives in my locker while I'm away, and smetimes rests on my spear while I'm on duty. |

As you break the surface she begins to speak. "Maybe next time you return to the deep you might care to visit one of these peophins, female warriors, or maraquans. Or maybe even my family. Whomever you wish." She smiles, waves, and slips back into the ocean.
