The Grey Charter was inspired by a need to reform a successful existing guild who lost it's leader to Real Life requirements. Like the Guild it is replacing, we want to provide a place for good conversation, current information about the happenings in Neopia, as well as a place people can escape from the drama of the public boards. We value the Charter Boards and the friendliness and camaraderie that can be found there. We hope to provide those same values in a smaller venue.

About Us
We value members who:
- WANT to be part of our guild and visit on a regular basis.
- Feel able to share their neo knowledge and help fellow members.
- Want to be part of a friendly, close-knit but non-judgemental community.
- Actively, thoughtfully and purposefully post and join in with some of the guild's activities.
- Would like a place to visit where questions are answered and advice shared.
- Are proud to represent the guild in Neopia.
Please explore the links at the top of the page. There is information there regarding Guild Rules, what Guild ranks are available to members, and how to raise your rank in the Guild. You can also find Guild Events, and banners to place in your shop or on your look-up to show your support of the Guild.
No donations are required within the guild, there are "rewards" of trophies to place on your lookup, and of course braggin' rights on the Guild board.

Rules
- Follow all Neopets rules. This includes simple courtesy and respect to others in or out of the Guild.
- To keep things fair each member may only join with one account. You may join from a side account but do not over-extend your ability to be involved in Neopia. If your main account Guild takes all of your time, then you cannot hope to give a second Guild what it deserves of your time.
- If you have a problem with another member neomail a Council Member. Do not cause a scene on the guild board.
- Please try to be active as much as real life allows you. We're not saying you have to post every single day, but at least once a week seems reasonable. If you are going on a small hiatus, vacation, or have some real life issues interfering etc. please be courteous and let us know so we can excuse you from being inactive. If you are active on the message boards and yet cannot post on the Guild board, you may wish to consider that you do not have time to be involved in a Guild.
Members with no Guild Activity for one month, that have not contacted Council about a required absence, will be purged from the Guild. This is not a personal action against any member, simply a realistic recognition that you are too busy for our Guild.

Council

Greystaff- This rank is for the Guild Leader/ Creator. The responsibilities of this position are supervising/organizing activities, maintaining Guild web pages, initiating needed changes Guild-wide as determined by the Guild Council. Monitoring the Guild board and assisting Guild members as needed.

Gatekeeper- This rank is for the Guild Second In Command. The responsibilities of this position include supervising/organizing activities, carrying out monthly rank promotions as determined by Member activity, and organizing Council meetings as needed. Covering any position within the Guild Council including the Leadership position if required. Monitoring the Guild board and assisting Guild members.

Commander- This Council Member is responsible for all discipline within the Guild, working with Members having difficulty following the rules of the Guild, and acting as intermediary between members should mediation be required. Further duties include maintaining web pages, supervising/organizing activities, monitoring the Guild message board, and assisting members as needed.

The Archive- This Council Member is responsible for information within the Guild. Bringing current events in Neopia to the Guild message board so that all members can see at a glance what is happening. Current plot steps, new/retiring neocash in the mall, where to go if you have troubles with your account and need links to support etc. This Council Member is who to write to if you need information about Neopets. Further responsibilities of this position are supervising/organizing activities, monitoring the Guild message board, and assisting members as needed.

Protector- This Council Member is responsible for welcoming and assisting new members to the Guild. Shortly after joining the Guild you'll get a neomail from this Council Member, welcoming you, and making sure any questions you have about the Guild are answered, or directing you to the person who has the information you need. Further responsibilities of this position are maintaining the guild treasury, buying gifts for Guild Members, supervising/organizing activities, monitoring the Guild message board, and assisting members as needed.
Members

VIP- This rank belongs to the Guild Member chosen as Member Of The Month, and changes monthly.

Warden- This is the highest rank available to Guild Members.

Wizard- The third of four available ranks Guild Members can achieve.

Guru- This is the first rank promotion a Guild Member can achieve.

Apprentice- This is the entry level rank for all new members.
Rank Elevations and such...

Rank elevations will be based first on time within the Guild. Members will be evaluated for rank elevation at 1 month, 3 months, and 6 months.

Rank elevation will be based secondly on participation in the Guild. This includes posting on the Guild Board, and/or participation in a Guild activity, and/or assisting other Guild members as needed.

You do not have to participate in every activity to have your Rank elevated. You do not have to post on the board daily to have your Rank elevated. What you do need to do is show by action that you want to be here. So time in the Guild, and involvement in the Guild on some level is what Council will be looking for.

Member of the Month (M.O.T.M)
Every month one lucky member who was active the month prior will be chosen randomly by council as the M.O.T.M. It will be awarded at the beginning of the month. The chosen member will earn themselves a nifty trophy they can display proudly, a gift from the Guild, and will hold the VIP rank within the Guild for that month.

Birthdays
We love birthdays! Free cake all around! Please add your birthday, or your UN-birthday, to the Guild Calendar. Let us celebrate your special day with you!

Fashion Show
Every month the guild will hold a fashion show. A theme will be chosen, for example: Winter, Valentines etc. All members of the guild will have the opportunity to enter their pets. All entries will be displayed for everyone to see. Once all entries are accepted voting will begin. All guild members, whether they entered or not, will be able to vote for their top three choices. The top three pets will earn a trophy. All other participants will earn a participation medal.

Dubloon Toss
Each week we will toss a dubloon coin 100 times, using a random coin toss application. The object is to get the closest guess to the actual head vs. tails results. For example you might guess 52 Heads/48 Tails, meaning the coin landed 52 times on heads and 48 times on tails. The object is to guess the closest to the actual number.

Pelting Friday
Bi-monthly a pelting victim will be announced on the Guild message board. The Guild will "pelt" the victim with items they might need or want for a gallery, training a pet, etc. Pelting is completely optional.

Magic Number
Every month members are welcome to pick a number on the guild board. What mysterious thing awaits? A pile of snakes? A steak dinner? The power to fly? Watch the Guild message board for breaking news!

Fun Auctions
Auctions for smaller neopoint items run daily. Auctions for higher priced items run once a month, the day is announced on the Guild message board. Items are on display prior to sale time.

Pet of the Month (P.O.T.M)
Each month a pet will be chosen as P.O.T.M. This pet will recieve a trophy for their lookup, and have their photograph and name displayed on the Pet of the Month page.

Board Trivia
Every other Friday Council will post 5 trivia questions for Guild members to answer on a variety of topics. Enjoy this fun and challenging activity that runs on opposite weekends as Pelting.
