How to cure your pet
There are quite a few ways to cure your pet. You can either go to the Healing Springs in faerie land every 30 minutes (click here for a complete guide to the healing springs) and you MAY have your pet cured for free.

The other option is to buy a cure.

Cures:
For a complete list of all the diseases and their cures, visit the Neopian Hospital in the Neopian Plaza.

Each disease has its own cure. For a few diseases, there is more than one cure. This second cure is called the Lost Desert cure, and can be purchased for a low price.
Important: Lost desert cures do not always work. It may take more than one application or use of the medicine to cure your neopet.

Below is a list of the lost desert medicines (bought at the Emergeny Supplies Store) and the diseases that they cure.

Everyone, please, stare in wonder. This uber awesome mushroom can heal your pet of any disease. If you can't wait for the healing springs for some reason, or if you can't afford that unbuyable cure, try one of these. They range from 55k-100k. Sounds expensive but they may be cheaper than some other cures.

What is a scam?
Scams are methods of hacking (or the "illegal" taking over of another person account) used by idiotic people to manipulate newcomers and experienced users alike. Items can also be scammed, or stolen, through trades or lending. Scams can be harmless but rather annoying, such as chain letters.

The Chatroom Scam:

While you're browsing the boards, like the innocent neopian you are, you'll run into things like this:
Giving away ten free paint brushes! Neomail me!

The account that's saying this is almost ALWAYS be 2 weeks old or even less. So, if you do neomail the person, one of two things will happen:
1) A harmless "HA! YEAH RIGHT" -_- Oh well it's considered spam anyways so report away.
2) The user will ask for your account information saying "Just let me put it onto your account" or something of the sort.

If you have already neomailed the person by the time you're reading this, report them and then block them. Do not encourage other people to report the person as well; it does not speed up the freezing process and YOU can be reported for that.

The person will NOT give you a promised item or neopoints. You WILL lose everything you have. You might not even get your account back once it's been hacked into. The best thing to do: stay away from these boards completely. If you see one, don't bother with it. Report if you must, but don't post "reported" as it's considered spam.

Chain letters:

Haven't we all heard "post this in ten boards and you'll get a million and two hundred neopoints!?" Here's the deal: Lies and slander. These do NOT work, ARE reportable, and are EXTREMELY annoying. Pointless spam.

Avatar lending scams:

So you've finally gotten that avatar item that everone wants. You decide that you're going to lend it out to the people; be a good citizen... Unfortunately, as in the real world, the nice people always get the worst of it.

Lending for free is a very risky business. The likeliness that your item will be stolen is very high. Before you lend for free, make sure you TRUST the person (not for the last five minutes either... more like for the last 5 months or something... even then, it could be a long-term scam). Only lend for free if you're willing to lose your item.

I STRONGLY recommend requiring collateral. This is great anti-scam protection. If you recquire someone to give YOU something in return until they return your item, you can ALMOST be sure that the person will not steal your things.

Collateral help:
Recquiring neopoints is a risky business; multiple trades must be made for items worth over 800,000 np. It is easier and safer to ask for an item of equal value, or 800,000 np and an item whose value plus the neopoints will equal the value of your item.

Off-site scams:
People these days... I mean really. They find ways to manipulate the neopets filter and put links to sites OTHER than neopets. The risk: cookie grabbers. Cookie grabbers are like little leeches that follow you around the internet and track everything you write... including how to access your account. DO NOT visit any off-site links, no matter how safe you think they are. Don't be over paranoid, just don't trust what people type on the boards.

OMG! I heard how to make a million NP!
Good for you. However, if this recquires entering ANY information on an offsite webpage... it's a scam. You will not receive any neopoints or items; you will have things taken from you instead. Report the person advertising for this immediately to get him off the site and protect other users.

Graphix Scams
Hey, I finished your banner. I gotta get on ur account so I can put it up.

Not true. There is absolutely NO REASON for a graphics artist to log into your account. Graphics codes can be given to you via petpage or other methods. Paying for graphics is also unneeded and strongly regarded as neo-illegal.

Contests

So you're chatting on the boards or you're in a guild and suddenly someone says "I'm creating this awesome contest; you gotta put in 50,000 neopoints and you'll get a baby paint brush back!
Two things wrong with this:
1) Contests are against neopian rules
2) You'll never get the item and your money will be put to waste

Off-site Rumors:
Someone contacts you through an instant-messaging program and says "Hey I found this site it gave me a few million neopoints! You should totally go there!
Even if it's your best friend, don't believe a word of it. Neo-points and neo-items are exactly that: NEO as in NEOPETS ONLY. You can't earn these things anywhere else. I have been scammed by my best friend in elementary school -sob and sniffle- not fun.

Claiming to know your whereabouts
I know it sounds crazy but I HAVE come accross this before. People state "I know who you are.. give me a million neopoints or I'll come get you."
These are lies to scare you. Report and don't believe a word of it. No one is going to risk going to jail over pixels.

I'm an old friend... remember me?
Even if you CAN verify who the person is, that's no reason to let them enter your account. There is no reason to let ANYONE enter your account or "borrow" your items.

Borrowing:
No one can borrow your things. You've got no guarantee of ever getting them back and it's not likely that you will. Even if the person swears upon their grandmother's amputated toe, don't trust them. They won't give you your items back. If they were good people, they'd earn the things themselves.

Begging:
Some scammers will attempt to wear you down to the point where you say "Fine if you'll stop bugging me." If they're annoying you, report them and block them.

If you've been scammed:
If you can't get back into your account, immediately contact neopets. They'll do all they can to get it back for you.

If you CAN get into your account, change your account settings immediately. If you know who scammed you, report them to neopets ASAP. DON'T go to the boards saying "I jsut got scammed give me stuff." You'll get reported. It's best to just stay quiet.

If you're wondering if you have been scammed, it's easy to tell. If all your neopoints and/or things are gone... well, you've been hacked.

Pin-Numbers

If you're worried about being hacked, don't be afraid to set a pin number.

I believe neopets puts it in the best terms:
You can use a PIN number for extra security.

If you choose to use a PIN number, certain areas of the site will require you to enter it in order to complete an action.

For example, if you wish to have a PIN number connected with your Neopian Bank Account, any time you wish to make a withdrawal, you will be required to enter your PIN number.

Basically, if you get hacked, it will keep the hackers out of your things (most of them, anyhow). If you can get your account back, the important things will still be there.

Introduction:
If you're roaming the Help Chat Boards and you happen to see "OMG TARLA!?" or "Tarla's here!" and you find yourself wondering... what is this "Tarla" of which they speak? Your questions are finally answered!

Who is Tarla?
Tarla is a red ixi who has a shop on Terror Mountain. Despite all odds and the pleading of her family and friends, she left her nice, warm, happy home in Meridell.

You're crazy, Tarla!"

I can't believe you're doing this!"

Are you nuts?"

No, that's not me making this all up. The Neopedia article on Tarla can be found here.

Where can I find Tarla?
Tarla can be found on the Neopets Toolbar. You can download the toolbar here. You do not hae to be a premium member to download! So, what does the toolbar do, exactly?

The toolbar gives you special alerts (including tarla's!). When the orb starts flashing, click on it to see what's up!

The toolbar also provides a pop-up blocker, quick links, neomail alerts, and more. You do not have to be on the Neopets site, or even logged in, to receive alerts or use the toolbar.

Alright. So when does Tarla come?
Tarla comes at random times during the day (or night). Sometimes, she'll come up to four times a day, while other times she'll only come once or not at all!

What does she give away?
Tarla gives out random prizes. The one thing that you can be sure of, though, is that if the prize is rare, it's price will go WAY down. For example, Tarla gave out a piece of the secret lab map not long ago. The price went down from 60,000 to 25,000 (as of 12.26.07).

When Tarla gave out a paintbrush, its value also declined rapidly. Don't be surprised if you get a run-of-the-mill item. Sometimes, you might not get anything at all (false alarm!).

Eep! My computer won't let me download the toolbar!
Not a problem! If your computer doesn't let you download, neopians are allowed to post the Tarla link when she's giving things away. It's a good idea to check the help boards every so often to see if there is anything on "Tarla is here!" If there is, there's likely a link posted to her shop where you can receive her newest prize.

I missed Tarla's giveaway...
It happens. Don't worry, she'll be back soon! Sadly, there's nothing that you can do about this.

OMG I clicked but it says she's not there!?!?!
You'll have to be quicker next time. The events only last for about 5 mintes (at the most!). Once again, don't get too upset about it. She'll be back, dont' worry.

More comin soon (maybe...)

Thanks to the users that have helped me improve this guide so much:
